1 Markaasaa Eliifas kii reer Teemaan u jawaabay, oo wuxuu ku yidhi,
Then responded Eliphaz the Temanite, and said: —
2 Mid hadduu isku dayo inuu kula hadlo, ma ka xumaanaysaa? Laakiinse bal yaa hadal iska celin kara?
If one attempt a word unto thee, wilt thou be impatient? But, to restrain speech, who, can endure?
3 Bal eeg, adigu kuwa badan wax baad bartay, Oo gacmihii itaalka darnaana waad xoogaysay.
Lo! thou hast admonished many, and, slack hands, hast thou been wont to uphold:
4 Erayadaadu way tiiriyeen kii sii dhacayay, Oo jilbihii tabarta yaraana waad adkaysay.
Him that was stumbling, have thy words raised up, and, sinking knees, hast thou strengthened.
5 Laakiinse haatan dhibaatadu aday kuu timid, oo waad taag yaraanaysaa, Wayna ku soo gaadhay, oo waad dhibaataysan tahay.
But, now, it cometh upon thee, and thou despairest, It smiteth even thee, and thou art dismayed.
6 War kalsoonidaadu sow ma aha cabsida aad Ilaahaaga ka cabsato, Rajadaaduse sow ma aha daacadnimada jidadkaaga?
Is not, thy reverence, thy confidence? And is not, thy hope, the very integrity of thy ways?
7 Waan ku baryayaaye bal wax xusuuso, bal yaa weligiis halligmay isagoo aan xaq qabin? Amase xaggee baa mid qumman lagu halaagay?
Remember, I pray thee, who, being innocent, hath perished, or when, the upright, have been cut off.
8 Sidaan anigu arkay, weligoodba kuwii xumaan tacbadaa, Oo belaayo beertaa, isla waxaasay goostaan.
So far as I have seen, They who plow for iniquity and sow misery, reap the same:
9 Iyagu waxay ku baabba'aan Ilaah neeftiisa, Oo waxay ku dhammaadaan afuufidda cadhadiisa.
By the blast of GOD, they perish, And, by the breath of his nostrils, are they consumed:
10 Libaaxa cidiisii, iyo aarka cadhaysan codkiisii, Iyo libaaxyada yaryar miciyahoodiiba waa jajabaan.
[Notwithstanding] the roaring of the lion, and the noise of the howling lion, yet, the teeth of the fierce lions, are broken:
11 Libaaxa duqa ahu ugaadhla'aanta buu u bakhtiyaa, Oo goosha dhasheediina way kala firdhaan.
The strong lion perishing for lack of prey, Even the whelps of the lioness, are scattered.
12 Haddaba war baa qarsoodi la iigu keenay, Oo dhegtayduna faqiisay qabsatay.
But, unto me, something was brought by stealth, —and mine ear caught a whispering of the same:
13 Habeenkii markay riyooyinku fikirro kiciyaan, Oo ay dadku hurdo weyn ku fogaadaan,
When there were thoughts, from visions of the night, —When deep sleep falleth upon men,
14 Ayaa cabsi iyo gariiru igu dhacay, Oo lafahayga oo dhammuna way wada ruxruxmadeen.
Dread, came upon me, and trembling, The multitude of my bones, it put in dread:
15 Markaasaa ruux wejigayga soo hor maray, Oo timihii jidhkayguna waa soo wada istaageen.
Then, a spirit, over my face, floated along, The hair of my flesh bristled-up:
16 Oo isagii wuu joogsaday, laakiinse muuqashadiisii waan kala saari waayay; Muuqaal baa indhahayga hortooda joogay; Intii mudda ah aamusnaan baa jirtay, dabadeedna waxaan maqlay cod leh,
It stood still, but I could not distinguish its appearance, I looked, but there was no form before mine eyes, —A whispering voice, I heard: —
17 War nin dhiman karaa miyuu Ilaah ka sii caaddilsanaan karaa? Mase nin baa ka sii daahirsanaan kara kii isaga abuuray?
Shall, mortal man, be more just than GOD? Or a man be more pure than, his Maker?
18 Bal eeg, isagu addoommadiisa iskuma halleeyo; Oo malaa'igihiisana nacasnimuu ku eedeeyaa.
Lo! in his own servants, he trusteth not, and, his own messengers, he chargeth with error:
19 Intee ka sii badan buu eedeeyaa kuwa guryaha dhoobada ah deggan, Oo aasaaskoodii boodhka ku jiro, Oo sida balanbaallis u burbura!
How much more the dwellers in houses of clay, which, in the dust, have their foundation, which are crushed sooner than a moth:
20 Subaxdii iyo fiidkii inta ka dhex leh ayay baabba'aan; Weligoodba way halligmaan iyadoo aan ciduna ka fikirayn.
Betwixt morning and evening, are they broken in pieces, With none to save, they utterly perish:
21 Xadhkaha teendhooyinkoodii sow lama siibo? Way dhintaan iyagoo aan xigmad lahayn.
Is not their tent-rope within them, torn away? They die, disrobed of wisdom!
