1 Haddaba Yacquub wuxuu arkay in hadhuudh laga helo Masar, markaasuu Yacquub wiilashiisii ku yidhi, War maxaa midkiinba midka kale u fiirinayaa?

Then saw Jacob that there was corn in Egypt, —and Jacob said to his sons, Wherefore look ye one at another?

2 Oo wuxuu yidhi, Bal ogaada, waxaan maqlay in hadhuudh laga helo Masar. Bal xaggaas u dhaadhaca, oo halkaas wax inooga soo iibiya, inaynu noolaanno oo aynaan dhimanin.

And he said, Lo I have heard that there is corn in Egypt, —Go down thither and buy corn for us from thence, that we may live and not die.

3 Markaasaa Yuusuf tobankiisii walaal waxay u tageen Masar inay hadhuudh ka soo iibsadaan.

So Joseph’s ten brethren went down, —to buy corn from the Egyptians;

4 Laakiinse Benyaamiin oo ahaa Yuusuf walaalkiis Yacquub ma uu raacinin walaalihiis; waayo, wuxuu isyidhi, Waaba intaasoo belaayo ku dhacdaa.

but, Benjamin, Joseph’s own brother, Jacob sent not with his brethren, —for he said, Lest there befall him any mischief.

5 Markaasaa wiilashii Israa'iil waxay u yimaadeen inay wax iibsadaan, iyagoo la socda kuwii yimid, waayo, abaartu dalkii Kancaanna way ka dhacday.

Thus came in the sons of Israel, to buy corn in the midst of them that came—for the famine was in the land of Canaan.

6 Yuusufna wuxuu ahaa taliyihii dalka, isaguna wuxuu ahaa kii wax ka iibin jiray dadka dalka oo dhan. Markaasay Yuusuf walaalihiis u yimaadeen isagii, oo intay u wada sujuudeen ayay wejiga dhulka wada saareen.

Now, Joseph—he, it was, that was in power over the land, he, it was that was selling corn to all the people of the land, —so Joseph’s brethren came in, and bowed themselves down to him, with their faces to the earth.

7 Yuusufna walaalihiis wuu arkay, wuuna gartay, laakiin wuxuu isaga dhigay sidii nin qalaad, oo intuu si qallafsan ula hadlay ayuu wuxuu ku yidhi iyagii, War xaggee baad ka timaadeen? Oo iyana waxay yidhaahdeen, Waxaannu ka nimid dalka Kancaan si aannu cunto u iibsanno.

And Joseph beheld his brethren and recognised them, —and made himself a stranger unto them and spake with them harsh things and said unto them—Whence have ye come in? And they said, From the land of Canaan, to buy food.

8 Yuusufna wuu gartay walaalihiis laakiinse iyagu ma ay garan isagii.

And Joseph recognised his brethren, —whereas they, recognised him not.

9 Markaasaa Yuusuf xusuustay riyooyinkii iyaga ku saabsanaa oo uu ku riyooday, oo wuxuu ku yidhi iyagii, Basaasyaad tihiin, oo waxaad u timaadeen inaad aragtaan dhulka abaarnimadiisa.

And Joseph remembered the dreams which he had dreamed regarding them, —so he said unto them—Spies, are, ye! to see the nakedness of the land, have ye come in!

10 Iyana waxay ku yidhaahdeen isagii, Maya, sayidkayagiiyow, laakiinse annagoo addoommadaada ah waxaannu u nimid inaannu cunto iibsanno.

And they said unto him, Nay, my lord, —but, thy servants, are come to buy food.

11 Kulligayo isku nin wiilashiis baannu nahay, oo waxaannu nahay niman daacad ah, oo annagoo addoommadaada ah basaasyo ma nihin.

All of us, are, sons of one man, —honest men, are we: thy servants are not, spies.

12 Oo isna wuxuu ku yidhi iyagii, Maya, laakiinse waxaad u timaadeen inaad aragtaan dhulka abaarnimadiisa.

And he said unto him, —Nay! but, the nakedness of the land, are ye come in to see.

13 Iyana waxay yidhaahdeen, Annagoo ah addoommadaada waxaannu nahay laba iyo toban walaalo ah, oo waxaannu nahay nin jooga dalka Kancaan wiilashiisii; oo bal eeg, kii noogu yaraa wuxuu maanta la joogaa aabbahayo, midna maba joogo.

And they said: We, thy twelve servants, are, brethren, sons of one man in the and of Canaan, —and lo! the youngest: is with our father this day, and, the one, is not!

14 Markaasuu Yuusuf iyagii ku yidhi, Taasu waa tii aan idinkula hadlay, anigoo leh, Basaasyaad tihiin.

And Joseph said unto them, —The very thing, that I spake unto you, saying—Spies, are, ye.

15 Haddaba tan baa laydinku tijaabin doonaa; nolosha Fircoon baan ku dhaartay inaydaan halkan ka tegi doonin, in walaalkiinnii yaraa halkan yimaado mooyaane.

Hereby, shall ye be proved, —By the life of Pharaoh, ye shall not go forth from hence, save only by the coming in of your youngest brother hither.

16 Mid idinka mid ah dira, oo ha keeno walaalkiin, idinkuna waad xidhnaan doontaan, in la tijaabiyo hadalkiinna, bal inay runi idinku jirto iyo in kale, haddii kalese hubaal nolosha Fircoon baan ku dhaartay inaad basaasyo tihiin.

Send—from among you—one that he may fetch your brother, but be, ye, held as prisoners, that your words may be proved whether, truth, is with you, —and, if not, by the life of Pharaoh, surely, spies, ye are.

17 Markaasuu kulligood muddo saddex maalmood ah wada xabbisay.

So he drew them all together into ward, for three days.

18 Kolkaasaa maalintii saddexaad Yuusuf iyagii ku yidhi, Tan yeela, oo waad noolaan doontaan, waayo, anigu Ilaah baan ka cabsadaa.

And Joseph said unto them on the third day, This, do and live, —God himself, do, I, revere.

19 Haddaad niman daacad ah tihiin, walaalihiinna midkood ha ku xidhnaado guriga xabsigiinna; laakiinse idinku taga, oo hadhuudh u geeya reerihiinna abaaraysan.

If ye, are, honest men, one brother of you shall be kept as a prisoner in your house of ward, —but, ye, go, take in corn for the famine of your houses;

20 Walaalkiinna idiinku wada yar ii keena; sidaasuu hadalkiinnu ku rumoobi doonaa, mana aad dhiman doontaan. Iyana sidii bay yeeleen.

and your youngest brother, shall ye bring in unto me, that your words may be confirmed, and ye die not. And they did so.

21 Markaasay waxay isku yidhaahdeen, Runtii walaalkeen eed baan ka galnay, maxaa yeelay, waxaynu aragnay naftiisii dhibaatada ku jirtay, markuu ina baryay, mana aynu maqlin, sidaas daraaddeed ayay dhibaatadanu inoogu dhacday.

And they said each man unto his brother—Verily guilty, we are, respecting our brother, in that we saw the distress of his soul when he appealed unto us for favour and we hearkened not, —therefore, hath come in unto us this distress.

22 Markaasaa Ruubeen u jawaabay iyagii, oo wuxuu ku yidhi, Miyaanan idinla hadlin oo idinku odhan, Wiilka ha ku dembaabina, oo sow ima aydin maqli waayin? Haddaba bal eega, dhiiggiisii baa laydin weyddiistaye.

And Reuben responded to them, saying—Spake I not unto you saying, Do not sin against the child! And ye hearkened not? His very blood, therefore lo! it is required.

23 Oo iyana ma ay ogayn in Yuusuf gartay iyaga; waayo, turjumaan baa kala dhex joogay.

But, they, knew not that Joseph was hearkening, —for, the interpreter, was between them.

24 Markaasuu ka sii jeestay iyagii, wuuna ooyay; oo haddana intuu ku soo noqday ayuu la hadlay, oo wuxuu kala dhex baxay Simecoon, wuuna xidhay isagii iyagoo arkaya.

So he turned away from them, and wept, —then came back unto them and spake unto them, and took away from them Simeon, and bound him prisoner before their eyes.

25 Markaasaa Yuusuf wuxuu amray in joonyadahoodii hadhuudh looga buuxiyo, iyo in nin walba lacagtiisii loogu celiyo joonyaddiisii iyo in sahay jidka loo siiyo, oo sidii baana loo yeelay.

Then commanded Joseph that their bags should be filled with corn, and their silver be returned each man’s into his sack, and provision be given for the journey, —and it was done to them thus.

26 Markaasay hadhuudhkoodii dameerradoodii ku rarteen, wayna ka tageen halkaas.

So they lifted up their corn on their asses, —and went their way, from thence.

27 Meeshay ku hoydeen markii uu midkood joonyaddiisii ugu furay inuu dameerkiisii cunto siiyo ayuu arkay lacagtiisii oo ku jirta joonyaddiisii afkeeda.

And the first opened his sack to give fodder to his ass at the inn, —and beheld his silver, yea there, it was in the mouth of his sack!

28 Markaasuu walaalihiis ku yidhi, Lacagtaydii waa lay soo celiyey; oo waxay ku jirtaa joonyaddayda, markaasay qalbiga ka nexeen, oo ay isku jeesteen iyagoo gariiraya, oo waxay isku yidhaahdeen, Waa maxay waxakan Ilaah inagu sameeyey?

So he said unto his brethren My silver hath been returned, yea verily, there it is in my sack! Then went forth their heart and they turned trembling—each man unto his brother saying. What is this that God hath done to us?

29 Markaasay aabbahood Yacquub ugu yimaadeen dalkii Kancaan, oo waxay isagii u sheegeen wixii ku dhacay oo dhan, iyagoo leh,

So they came in unto Jacob their father to the land of Canaan, —and told him all that had befallen them saying:

30 Ninka sayidka u ah dalka ayaa si qallafsan noola hadlay, oo wuxuu noo qaatay inaannu dalka basaasayno.

The man that is lord of the land spake unto us harsh things, —and then delivered us up. as spies of the land.

31 Oo waxaannu isagii ku nidhi, Annagu waxaannu nahay niman daacad ah; oo basaasyo ma aannu nihin.

And we said unto him Honest men, are, we, —we are not spies!

32 Waxaannu nahay laba iyo toban walaalo ah, oo ah wiilashii aabbahayo. Mid ma joogo, kii noogu yaraana maanta dalkii Kancaan ayuu aabbahayo la joogaa.

Twelve brethren, are, we, sons of our father, —the one, is not, and the youngest is this day with our father in the land of Canaan.

33 Markaasaa ninkii sayidka u ahaa dalka wuxuu nagu yidhi, Inaad niman daacad ah tihiin tanaan idinku garan doonaaye; walaalihiin mid igaga taga, oo hadhuudh u qaada reerihiinna abaaraysan, oo iska taga,

Then said the man the lord of the land unto us, Hereby, shall I get to know that honest men, ye are, —One brother of you, leave ye remaining with me, and corn for the famine of your houses, take ye and go your way;

34 oo ii keena walaalkiinnii idiinku wada yaraa, markaasaan garan doonaa inaydaan basaasyo ahayn, laakiinse inaad tihiin niman daacad ah. Markaasaan walaalkiin idin siin doonaa, dalkana waad ka baayacmushtari doontaan.

And bring ye in your youngest brother unto me, So must I get to know that ye are, not spies, but are honest men: Your brother, will I give up to you, and with the land, shall ye traffic.

35 Oo waxay noqotay in markay joonyadahoodii hadhuudhkii ka shubeen, nin walba xidhmadiisii lacagta ahayd ay ugu jirtay joonyaddiisii, oo markii iyaga iyo aabbahood ay arkeen xidhmooyinkoodii lacagta ahaa ayay baqeen.

And it came to pass when, they, were emptying their, sacks then lo! each man’s bundle of silver, was in his sack, —and when they beheld their bundles of silver—they and their father, they were afraid,

36 Markaasaa aabbahood Yacquub wuxuu iyagii ku yidhi, Gablan baad iga dhigteen, bal eeg, Yuusuf ma joogo, oo Simecoon ma joogo, oo haddana waxaad kaxayn doontaan Benyaamiin; waxyaalahan oo dhammu waa iga gees.

And Jacob their father said unto them, Me, have ye bereaved, —Joseph, is not, and, Simeon, is not, and Benjamin, ye would take! Against me, have happened all these things.

37 Markaasaa Ruubeen aabbihiis la hadlay, oo wuxuu ku yidhi, Haddii aan isaga kuu keeni waayo, dil labadayda wiil. Aniga ii dhiib isaga, oo anna waan kuu soo celin doonaa.

Then spake Reuben unto his father saying, My two sons, shalt thou put to death, if I bring him not unto thee, —Come give him up upon my hand, and I, will restore him unto thee.

38 Markaasuu yidhi, Wiilkaygu idinla dhaadhici maayo; waayo, walaalkiis waa dhintay, oo keligiis baa hadhay. Haddii jidka aad sii maraysaan belaayo kaga dhacdo isaga, de markaas cirradayda caloolxumaad qabriga la gelin doontaan. (Sheol h7585)

And he said, My son shall not go down with you, —For, his brother, is dead and, he alone, is left, and as surely as there befall him any mischief by the way wherein ye go, so surely shall ye bring down my grey hairs with sorrow unto hades. (Sheol h7585)
