1 Taas dabadeedna Naaxaash oo boqor u ahaa reer Cammoon ayaa dhintay, meeshiisiina waxaa boqor ka noqday wiilkiisii.
And it came to pass after this that Nahash king of the children of Ammon died, and his son reigned in his stead.
2 Markaasaa Daa'uud yidhi, Anigu waxaan u roonaan doonaa Xaanuun ina Naaxaash, maxaa yeelay, aabbihiis baa ii roonaaday. Sidaas daraaddeed Daa'uud wuxuu u diray wargeeyayaal inay u tacsiyeeyaan aabbihiis. Markaasaa Daa'uud addoommadiisii waxay dalkii reer Cammoon ugu yimaadeen Xaanuun inay isaga u tacsiyeeyaan.
And David said, I will shew kindness to Hanun the son of Nahash, because his father shewed kindness to me. And David sent messengers to comfort him concerning his father. And David's servants came into the land of the children of Ammon to Hanun, to comfort him.
3 Laakiinse amiirradii reer Cammoon waxay Xaanuun ku yidhaahdeen, Ma waxaad u malaynaysaa in Daa'uud aabbahaa cisaynayo oo uu sidaas daraaddeed kuugu soo diray kuwa tacsiyada wada? Addoommadiisu sow kuuguma iman inay dalka baadhaan oo basaasaan oo afgembiyaan?
And the princes of the children of Ammon said to Hanun, Is it, in thine eyes, to honour thy father that David has sent comforters to thee? Is it not to search and overthrow, and to spy out the land that his servants are come to thee?
4 Sidaas daraaddeed Xaanuun wuxuu qabsaday Daa'uud addoommadiisii, oo intuu iyagii u xiiray ayuu dharkoodiina dhexda ka kala gooyay xataa ilaa dabada, markaasuu iska eryay.
And Hanun took David's servants, and had them shaved, and their raiment cut off in the midst, as far as the hip, and sent them away.
5 Markaasaa la tegey oo Daa'uud loo soo sheegay sidii nimankii loo galay. Oo isna wuxuu iyagii u diray dad ka hor taga, waayo, nimankii aad bay u ceeboobeen. Boqorkiina wuxuu iyagii ku yidhi, Yerixoo iska jooga ilaa gadhku idiin soo baxo, dabadeedna soo noqda.
And [certain] went and told David concerning the men; and he sent to meet them, for the men were greatly ashamed. And the king said, Abide at Jericho until your beards be grown, and then return.
6 Oo reer Cammoonna markay ogaadeen inay Daa'uud isnacsiiyeen ayaa Xaanuun iyo reer Cammoon sii dhiibeen kun talanti oo lacag ah inay gaadhifardood iyo rag fardooley ah kaga soo kiraystaan Mesobotamiya, iyo Aram Macakaah, iyo Soobaah.
And the children of Ammon saw that they had made themselves odious to David; and Hanun and the children of Ammon sent a thousand talents of silver to hire them chariots and horsemen out of Mesopotamia, and from the Syrians of Maacah, and from Zobah.

And they hired thirty-two thousand chariots, and the king of Maacah and his people; and they came and encamped before Medeba. And the children of Ammon gathered together from their cities, and came to battle.

And David heard [of it], and he sent Joab, and all the host, the mighty men.
9 Oo reer Cammoonna way soo baxeen, oo waxay dagaal isugu soo diyaariyeen magaalada iriddeeda, oo boqorradii yimidna duurkay keli ahaantood joogeen.
And the children of Ammon came out, and put the battle in array at the entrance of the city; and the kings that had come were by themselves on the field.
10 Haddaba Yoo'aab markuu arkay in dagaal looga soo kacshay hore iyo dibba, ayuu raggii reer binu Israa'iil ka xushay kuwii xuladka ahaa oo dhan, oo wuxuu u soo diyaariyey inay reer Suuriya la dagaallamaan.
And Joab saw that the front of the battle was against him before and behind; and he chose out of all the choice men of Israel, and put them in array against the Syrians;
11 Oo dadkii intiisii kalena wuxuu u dhiibay walaalkiis Abiishay, oo iyana waxay isu soo diyaariyeen inay reer Cammoon la dagaallamaan.
and the rest of the people he gave into the hand of Abishai his brother, and they set themselves in array against the children of Ammon.
12 Oo wuxuu walaalkiis ku yidhi, Haddii reer Suuriya iga xoog bataan waa inaad i soo caawisaa, laakiinse haddii reer Cammoon kaa xoog bataan, markaasaan ku soo caawin doonaa.
And he said, If the Syrians be too strong for me, then thou shalt help me; and if the children of Ammon be too strong for thee, then I will help thee.
13 Haddaba si fiican u dhiirranow, oo aynu rag u ahaanno dadkeenna iyo magaalooyinka Ilaaheen aawadood, oo Rabbiguna ha sameeyo wixii la wanaagsan.
Be strong, and let us shew ourselves valiant for our people, and for the cities of our God; and Jehovah will do what is good in his sight.
14 Sidaas daraaddeed Yoo'aab iyo dadkii la jirayba waxay ugu soo dhowaadeen inay la dagaallamaan reer Suuriya, oo iyana markaasay hortiisa ka carareen.
And Joab and the people that were with him drew near in front of the Syrians to the battle; and they fled before him.
15 Oo reer Cammoonna markay arkeen in reer Suuriya carareen ayay iyana walaalkiis Abiishay hortiisa saasoo kale uga carareen, oo waxay galeen magaaladii. Markaasaa Yoo'aab Yeruusaalem yimid.
And when the children of Ammon saw that the Syrians fled, they likewise fled before Abishai his brother, and entered into the city. And Joab came to Jerusalem.
16 Oo reer Suuriya markay arkeen in iyaga looga adkaaday reer binu Israa'iil hortooda ayay wargeeyayaal u direen oo soo kaxeeyeen reer Suuriyihii Webiga ka shisheeyey, iyagoo uu madax u yahay Shoofag oo ahaa sirkaalkii ciidanka Hadarceser.
And when the Syrians saw that they were routed before Israel, they sent messengers, and drew forth the Syrians that were beyond the river; and Shophach the captain of the host of Hadarezer [went] before them.
17 Taas waxaa loo soo sheegay Daa'uud, kolkaasuu reer binu Israa'iil oo dhan soo wada ururiyey, oo intuu Webi Urdun ka soo gudbay ayuu reer Suuriya u yimid, oo ciidankiisii ayuu weerar ugu soo diyaariyey, haddaba Daa'uud markuu raggiisii u diyaariyey inay reer Suuriya la dagaallamaan ayay iyana la dirireen.
And it was told David; and he gathered all Israel, and passed over the Jordan, and came upon them, and set [the battle] in array against them. And David put the battle in array against the Syrians, and they fought with him.

And the Syrians fled from before Israel; and David slew of the Syrians seven thousand [in] chariots, and forty thousand footmen, and slew Shophach the captain of the host.
19 Oo markii Hadarceser addoommadiisii arkeen in reer binu Israa'iil hortooda looga adkaaday ayay la nabdeen Daa'uud, wayna u adeegeen, oo reer Suuriyana way diideen inay mar dambe reer Cammoon caawiyaan.
And the servants of Hadarezer saw that they were routed before Israel, and they made peace with David, and became his servants. And the Syrians would no more help the children of Ammon.
