4 Nomba Yesu walambeti, “Kwalembweti muntu nkelela kuba ne buyumi ne shinkwa enka sobwe, nsombi ne Maswi onse ngalambanga Lesa.”
But Jesus answered, “It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.’”

and said to him, “If yoʋ are the Son of God, throw yoʋrself down, for it is written, ‘He will command his angels concerning yoʋ,’ and, ‘In their hands they will lift yoʋ up, so that yoʋ do not strike yoʋr foot against a stone.’”
7 Nendi Yesu walambeti, “Kwalembweti, ‘Kotamwelekeshanga Nkambo Lesa wakobe.’”
Jesus said to him, “Again it is written, ‘Yoʋ shall not put the Lord yoʋr God to the test.’”

And he said to him, “All these things I will give yoʋ, if yoʋ will fall down and worship me.”
10 Apa lino Yesu walambeti, “Fumapa, Satana! Mabala alambangeti, ‘Welela kukambilila Nkambo Lesa wakobe, ne kumusebensela enka.’”
Then Jesus said to him, “Get behind me, Satan! For it is written, ‘Yoʋ shall worship the Lord yoʋr God, and him only shall yoʋ serve.’”
11 Popelapo Muyungaushi walamushiya Yesu. Neco bangelo balesa kumunyamfwilisha Yesu.

so that what had been spoken by the prophet Isaiah might be fulfilled:

“Land of Zebulun and land of Naphtali, way of the sea, beyond the Jordan, Galilee of the Gentiles,
16 Bantu bekala mu mushinshe ni bakabone mumuni unene. Bantu bekala mucishi ca mufunsha wa lufu, mumuni ulababonekele.”
the people sitting in darkness have seen a great light, and on those sitting in the region and shadow of death light has dawned.”
