1 Mu masubawo, beshikwiya balikabaya kufulilako. Bayuda balikwamba Cigiliki balikutongokela Bayuda banabo balikwamba Cihebeli, busuba ne busuba nkabalikuyaba cena mali, ne bipo nabimbi kubamukalubingi babo.
And during those days, the disciples multiplying, there was a murmuring of the Hellenists against the Hebrews, that their widows were being neglected in the daily ministration.
2 Batumwa likumi ne babili, balabunganya beshikwiya bonse pamo, ne kubambileti, “Nkacaina kwambeti afwe tushiyenga kukambauka maswi a Lesa, tutatike kusamalila bamukalubingi.
And the twelve calling to them the multitude of the disciples, said, It is not pleasing that we, leaving the word of God, serve tables.
3 Mobanse, musalepo pakati penu, batuloba basanu ne babili, babwikalo bwaina, besulilwa ne Mushimu Uswepa, bakute mano, mbotitupe incito iyi.
But brethren, look out seven men from you of good report, full of the Spirit and wisdom, whom we shall appoint over this interest;
4 Afwe nitulibenge kukupaila, ne kukambauka maswi a Lesa.”
and we will give our attention to prayer and the ministry of the word.
5 Bonse balakondwa kunyumfwa maswi alico. Neco balasala; Stefano, muntu wa lushomo, wesulilwa ne Mushimu Uswepa. Filipo ne Pulokolasi ne Nikana ne Timoni. Pamenasi ne Nikolasi waku Antiyokeya, uyo kendi walikukonka kwiyisha kwa Ciyuda.
And the word was pleasing before all the multitude, and they chose Stephen, a man full of faith and the Holy Ghost, and Philip, and Prochorus, and Nicanor, and Timon, and Parmenas, and Nicolas,
6 Kufumapo balabemanika pamenso pabatumwa, nabo batumwa balapaila ne kubika makasa pa batuloba basa.
the Antiochian proselyte, whom they placed before the apostles, and having prayed, they placed their hands on them.
7 Maswi a Lesa alamwaikila kulikonse, nabo beshikwiya balatatika kufulilako mu Yelusalemu. Beshimilumbo bangi nabo balashoma.
And the word of God increased, and the number of the disciples multiplied exceedingly in Jerusalem, and a great multitude of the priests were obedient unto the faith.
8 Stefano walikuba muntuyo Lesa ngwalapa colwe ne ngofu shingi, cakwinseti walikwinsa bishikukankamanisha ne bingashilo byangofu pakati pa bantu.
And Stephen, full of grace and power, was doing great wonders and miracles among the people.

And certain ones of the synagogues, called Libertines, and Cyrenians, and Alexandrians, and those from Cilicia and Asia, stood up disputing with Stephen,

and they were not able to resist the wisdom and spirit with which he was speaking.
11 Lino balayungaula bantu nabambi kwambeti, bambengeti, “Twalamunyumfwa kacobola Mose ne Lesa.”
Then they bribed men, saying, that we have heard him speaking words blasphemous against Moses and God.
12 Neco, balakalalisha bantu, bamakulene Baciyuda, ne beshikwiyisha milawo ya Mose. Bonse pamo balamubukila Stefano, balamwikata ne kuya nendi ku nkuta inene ya Bayuda.
And they excited the people and the elders and scribes, and coming upon him, seized him, and led him into the council,
13 Balaleta bakamboni babwepeshi abo balambeti, “Ee muntuyu nishikwambowa maswi akunyansha Ng'anda ya Lesa, kayi ne milawo ya Mose.
and they raised up false witnesses, saying, This man does not cease speaking words against this holy place and the law;
14 Twalamunyumfwa kambeti, Yesu waku Nasaleti nakapwaye Ng'anda ya Lesa ne kushinta miyambo njalatupa Mose.”
for we have heard him saying, that this Jesus the Nazarene will destroy this place, and change the customs which Moses delivered unto us.
15 Bomboloshi bonse balikuba mu nkuta balaswamuna menso abo pali Stefano, pakwinga cinso cakendi calaboneketi ca mungelo.
And all sitting in the council, having fixed their eyes on him, saw his face as the face of an angel.
