1 Ukovita pesem Etana Ezrajičana. Milosti Gospodove bodem prepeval vekomaj; od roda do roda bodem oznanjal z usti svojimi zvestobo tvojo.
[A contemplation by Ethan, the Ezrahite.] I will sing of the loving kindness of Jehovah forever. With my mouth I will make known your faithfulness to all generations.
2 Ker preverjen sem, da se bode vekomaj slavila milost tvoja; v samih nebesih bodeš utrdil zvestobo svojo, s katero si rekel:
I indeed declare, "Love stands firm forever. You established the heavens. Your faithfulness is in them."
3 Sklenil sem zavezo z izvoljenim svojim, prisegel sem Davidu, svojemu hlapcu.
"I have made a covenant with my chosen one, I have sworn to David, my servant,
4 Da bodem na vekomaj utrdil seme tvoje in stavil prestol tvoj od roda do roda.
'I will establish your offspring forever, and build up your throne for all generations.'" (Selah)
5 Zatorej slavé nebesa čudovito delo tvoje, Gospod; in zvestobo tvojo v zboru svetnikov.
The heavens will praise your wonders, Jehovah; your faithfulness also in the assembly of the holy ones.
6 Kdo namreč naj se enako čisla v gornjem oblaku Gospodu; primerja se Gospodu med sinovi mogočnih?
For who in the skies can be compared to Jehovah? Who among the sons of God is like Jehovah,
7 Bog mogočni je strašán v zboru svetnikov, in čestit nad vse, kar ga obdaja.
a very awesome God in the council of the holy ones, to be feared above all those who are around him?
8 O Gospod, Bog vojnih krdél, kdo je tebi enako mogočen, Gospod? Ker zvestoba tvoja te ogrinja!
Jehovah, the God of hosts, who is a mighty one like you, JAH? Your faithfulness is around you.
9 Ti gospoduješ nad morja ponosom; ko se spenjajo valovi njegovi, ti jih krotiš.
You rule the pride of the sea. When its waves rise up, you calm them.
10 Ti si zdrobil, kakor prebodenega, Egipčana; z roko svoje moči si razkropil sovražnike svoje.
You have broken Rahab in pieces, like one of the slain. You have scattered your enemies with your mighty arm.
11 Tvoja so nebesa in tvoja zemlja; vesoljni svet in česar je poln ustanovil si tí.
The heavens are yours. The earth also is yours; the world and its fullness. You have founded them.
12 Sever in jug, katera si ti ustvaril, Tabor in Hermon prepevajo o imenu tvojem.
The north and the south, you have created them. Tabor and Hermon rejoice in your name.
13 Ti imaš roko z močjo; krepka je tvoja roka, vzvišena desnica tvoja.
You have a mighty arm. Your hand is strong, and your right hand is exalted.
14 Pravica in sodba sta za prebivališče tvojemu prestolu; milost in zvestoba hodita pred tvojim obličjem.
Righteousness and justice are the foundation of your throne. Loving kindness and truth go before your face.
15 Blagor ljudstvu, katero pozna trombe glas, hodi v svetlobi obličja tvojega, Gospod!
Blessed are the people who know the joyful shout. They walk in the light of your presence, Jehovah.
16 V imenu tvojem radujejo se ves dan, in dvigujejo se v pravici tvoji.
In your name they rejoice all day. In your righteousness, they are exalted.
17 Ker slava si njih móči, in po blagovoljnosti tvoji dviguje se naš rog.
For you are the glory of their strength. In your favor, our horn will be exalted.
18 Gospod namreč je naš ščit in svetnika Izraelovega, našega kralja.
For our shield belongs to Jehovah; our king to the Holy One of Israel.
19 Tedaj si v prikazni nagovoril njega, kateremu milost deliš, ter mu rekel: "Pomoč sem napravil zoper močnega, povzdignil izvoljenega iz ljudstva.
Then you spoke in a vision to your faithful ones, and said, "I have bestowed strength on the warrior. I have exalted a young man from the people.
20 Našel sem Davida, svojega hlapca; pomazilil sem ga sè svetim oljem svojim.
I have found David, my servant. I have anointed him with my holy oil,
21 Z njim bodi stanovitna roka moja, in dlan moja naj ga krepča.
with whom my hand shall be established. My arm will also strengthen him.
22 Ne bode ga stiskal sovražnik, in krivici udani ga ne ne bode žalil.
No enemy will tax him. No wicked man will oppress him.
23 Temuč starem izpred njegovega obličja neprijatelje njegove, in sovražnike udarim.
I will beat down his adversaries before him, and strike those who hate him.
24 Tako mu bode pomagala zvestoba moja in milost moja, da se bode v mojem imenu povzdignil rog njegov.
But my faithfulness and my loving kindness will be with him. In my name, his horn will be exalted.

I will set his hand also on the sea, and his right hand on the rivers.

He will call to me, 'You are my Father, my God, and the rock of my salvation.'
27 In jaz ga postavim za prvorojenca, povišanega nad zemeljske kralje.
I will also appoint him my firstborn, the highest of the kings of the earth.
28 Vekomaj mu ohranim milost svojo, in zaveza moja mu bode zvesta.
I will keep my loving kindness for him forevermore. My covenant will stand firm with him.
29 In vekomaj postavim seme njegovo in prestol njegov kakor so dnevi nebeški.
And I will establish his descendants forever, and his throne as the days of heaven.
30 Ako zapusté sinovi njegovi zakon moj, ne bodo hodili v sodbah mojih,
If his children forsake my Law, and do not walk in my ordinances;
31 Ako oskrunijo postave moje, in se ne držé zapovedi mojih:
if they break my statutes, and do not keep my commandments;
32 Obiskal bodem sè šibo njih pregreho; z udarci njih krivico.
then I will punish their sin with the rod, and their iniquity with stripes.
33 Milosti pa svoje mu ne odtegnem, in lagal ne bodem zoper zvestobo svojo.
But I will not completely take my loving kindness from him, nor allow my faithfulness to fail.
34 Oskrunil ne bodem zaveze svoje, ne izpremenil ust svojih besede.
I will not break my covenant, nor alter what my lips have uttered.
35 Enkrat sem prisegel pri svetosti svoji, Davidu ne bodem lagal:
Once have I sworn by my holiness, I will not lie to David.
36 Da bode večno seme njegovo, in prestol njegov kakor solnce pred mano.
His descendants will endure forever, his throne like the sun before me.
37 Kakor luna bode stanoviten vekomaj, in kakor priče zveste na gornjem oblaku."
It will be established forever like the moon, the faithful witness in the sky." (Selah)
38 Ti pa si zavrgel in zaničeval; razsrdil si se proti maziljencu svojemu.
But you have rejected and spurned. You have been angry with your anointed.
39 Zaničeval si hlapca svojega zavezo, oskrunil in vrgel na tla venčanje njegovo.
You have renounced the covenant of your servant. You have defiled his crown in the dust.
40 Podrl si vse ograje njegove; trdnjave njegove si izpostavil razdrobljenju.
You have broken down all his hedges. You have brought his strongholds to ruin.
41 Plenili so ga vsi popotniki, v zasramovanje je sosedom svojim.
All who pass by the way rob him. He has become an object of ridicule to his neighbors.
42 Povzdignil si sovražnikov njegovih desnico, razveselil vse neprijatelje njegove.
You have exalted the right hand of his adversaries. You have made all of his enemies rejoice.
43 Skrhal si tudi meča njegovega ostrino, in utrdil ga nisi v vojski.
Yes, you turn back the edge of his sword, and haven't supported him in battle.
44 Storil si, da mine bleščoba njegova, in prestol njegov si pahnil na tla.
You have ended his splendor, and thrown his throne down to the ground.
45 Okrajšal si dnî mladosti njegove; pokril si ga sè sramoto.
You have shortened the days of his youth. You have covered him with shame. (Selah)
46 Doklej, Gospod? bodeš li se skrival vekomaj? gorela bode kakor ogenj jeza tvoja?
How long, Jehovah? Will you hide yourself forever? Will your wrath burn like fire?
47 Spomni se mene, kako sem kratkih dni, kaj bi bil zastonj ustvaril vse otroke človeške?
Remember how short my time is. Have you created the descendants of Adam for no reason?
What man is he who shall live and not see death, who shall deliver his soul from the power of Sheol? (Selah) (Sheol h7585)
49 Kje so milosti one nekdanje, Gospod, katere si bil prisegel Davidu po zvestobi svoji?
Jehovah, where are your former loving kindnesses, which you swore to David in your faithfulness?
50 Spomni se, Gospod, sramote hlapcev svojih, da nosim v naročji svojem zasramovanje vseh ljudstev največjih,
Remember, Jehovah, the ridicule of all the many peoples against your servants I have borne in my heart,
51 S katerim so sramotili sovražniki tvoji, Gospod, s katerim so sramotili maziljenca tvojega stopinje.
how your enemies have ridiculed, Jehovah, how they have ridiculed the footsteps of your anointed one.
52 Slava Gospodu vekomaj, zgódi se, še enkrat, zgódi se!
Blessed be Jehovah forevermore. Amen, and Amen.
