Psalmi 34
1 Pesem Davidova, ko je bil izpremenil lice svoje pred Abimelekom, in je bil odšel, ker ga je on podil. Blagoslavljal bodem Gospoda vsak čas; vedno bode hvala njegova v ustih mojih.
Of David, when he feigned madness in the presence of Abimelech, who drove him away, and he left. I will bless the Lord at all times, in my mouth will his praise be forever.
2 V Gospodu se bode ponašala duša moja; čuli bodejo krotki ter se veselili;
In the Lord will my heart make her boast, the humble will hear and be glad.
3 Poveličujte Gospoda z menoj, in vkup povišujmo ime njegovo.
O magnify the Lord with me and let us extol his name together.
4 Iskal sem Gospoda in uslišal me je, in iz vseh strahov mojih me je rešil.
I sought the Lord, and, in answer, he saved me from all my terrors.
5 Kateri gledajo vanj in pritekajo, obličja njih naj se ne osramoté, govoré naj:
Look to him and you will be radiant, with faces unashamed.
6 Ta ubogi je klical, in Gospod je uslišal; in rešil ga je iz vseh stisek njegovih.
Here is one who was crushed, but cried and was heard by the Lord, and brought safe out of every trouble.
7 Šatorišče stavijo angeli Gospodovi okrog njih, kateri se ga bojé, in otme jih.
The Lord’s angel encamps about those who fear him, and rescues them.
8 Pokusite in vidite, da je dober Gospod; blagor možu, kateri pribega k njemu.
O taste and see that the Lord is good, happy those who take refuge in him.
9 Bojte se Gospoda, svetniki njegovi, ker stradanja ni njim, ki se ga bojé.
Fear the Lord, all his people, for they who fear him lack nothing.
10 Mladi levi beračijo in stradajo; kateri pa iščejo Gospoda, ne pogrešajo nobenega blaga.
Even young lions may be poor and hungry, but those who seek the Lord will not lack any good thing.
11 Dejte, sinovi, poslušajte me: strah Gospodov vas bodem učil.
Come, children, listen to me. I will teach you the fear of the Lord.
12 Kdo je ón mož, kateri se veseli življenja, ljubi dní, rad uživa dobro?
Which of you is desirous of life, loves many and happy days?
13 Varuj jezik svoj hudega, in ustne tvoje naj ne govoré zvijače.
Then guard your tongue from evil, and your lips from speaking deceit.
14 Umikaj se hudemu in delaj dobro; išči mirú in hodi za njim.
Depart from evil, and do good; seek peace, and pursue it.
15 Oči Gospodove pazijo na pravične, in ušesa njegova na njih vpitje.
The eyes of the Lord are towards the righteous, his ears are towards their cry for help.
16 Srdito pa je njim, ki delajo hudo, obličje Gospodovo, da iztrebi sè zemlje njihov spomin.
The Lord sets his face against those who do evil, to root their memory out of the earth.
17 Ko kličejo, sliši jih Gospod, in jih iz vseh njih stisek otima.
When righteous cry, they are heard by the Lord, and he saves them from all their distresses.
18 Blizu je Gospod pobitim v srci; in potrte v duhu rešuje.
The Lord is near to the broken-hearted, he helps those whose spirit is crushed.
19 Mnoge so pravičnega nadloge, ali iz njih vseh ga reši Gospod:
Many misfortunes befall the righteous, but the Lord delivers them out of them all.
20 Vse kosti njegovo ohrani, ena izmed njih se ne zlomi.
He guards all their bones, none are broken.
21 Krivične pa zadeva sè smrtjo nadloga, in kateri sovražijo pravičnega, pogubé se.
Misfortune will slay the ungodly; those who hate the righteous are doomed.
22 Gospod otima dušo hlapcev svojih, in ne pogubi se nobeden, ki pribega k njemu.
The Lord ransoms the life of his servants, and none will be doomed who takes refuge in him.
