Filipljanom 1
1 Pavel in Timotej, hlapca Jezusa Kristusa, vsem svetim v Kristusu Jezusu bivajočim v Filipih, z vladikami in pomočniki.
PAUL and Timotheus, the servants of Jesus Christ, to all the saints in Christ Jesus which are at Philippi, with the bishops and deacons:
2 Milost vam in mir od Boga očeta našega in Gospoda Jezusa Kristusa!
Grace be unto you, and peace, from God our Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ.
3 Zahvaljujem se Bogu svojemu, kader se vas spominjam.
I thank my God upon every remembrance of you,
4 (Ko vedno v sleherni molitvi svoji molim za vas vse z veseljem),
Always in every prayer of mine for you all making request with joy,
5 Da ste se udeleževali evangelja od prvega do današnjega dne;
For your fellowship in the gospel from the first day until now;
6 Prepričan prav tega, da bode on, ki je začel v vas dobro delo, dokončal ga do dné Jezusa Kristusa;
Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ:
7 Kakor je meni spodobno misliti za vas vse, ker vas imam v srci, v sponah svojih in zagovarjanji in utrjevanji evangelja, ki ste vsi sodeležniki mi milosti.
Even as it is meet for me to think this of you all, because I have you in my heart; inasmuch as both in my bonds, and in the defence and confirmation of the gospel, ye all are partakers of my grace.
8 Kajti priča mi je Bog, kako hrepenim po vas vseh z osrčjem Jezusa Kristusa.
For God is my record, how greatly I long after you all in the bowels of Jesus Christ.
9 In tudi to molim, da naj ljubezen vaša še bolj in bolj raste v spoznanji in slehernem razumu;
And this I pray, that your love may abound yet more and more in knowledge and in all judgment;
10 Da presojate, kar je imenitno, da bodete čisti in neizpotakljivi za dan Kristusov,
That ye may approve things that are excellent; that ye may be sincere and without offence till the day of Christ;
11 Napolnjeni sè sadom pravice po Jezusu Kristusu v slavo in hvalo Božjo.
Being filled with the fruits of righteousness, which are by Jesus Christ, unto the glory and praise of God.
12 Želim pa, da spoznate, bratje, da je stanje moje postalo bolj v uspeh evangelju,
But I would ye should understand, brethren, that the things which happened unto me have fallen out rather unto the furtherance of the gospel;
13 Tako da so spone moje očitne postale, da so v Kristusu v vsem šatorišči telesne straže in vsem drugim,
So that my bonds in Christ are manifest in all the palace, and in all other places;
14 In da večina bratov v Gospodu zaupajoč mojim sponam upa se bolj brez strahu govoriti besedo.
And many of the brethren in the Lord, waxing confident by my bonds, are much more bold to speak the word without fear.
15 Nekateri tudi iz nevoščljivosti in prepirljivosti, nekateri pa tudi iz dobre volje oznanjajo Kristusa.
Some indeed preach Christ even of envy and strife; and some also of good will:
16 Oni, ki iz prepirljivosti, ne oznanjajo Kristusa iz čistega namena, češ da prinesó stisko sponam mojim;
The one preach Christ of contention, not sincerely, supposing to add affliction to my bonds:
17 Kateri pa iz ljubezni, vedóč, da sem pripravljen v zagovarjanje evangelja.
But the other of love, knowing that I am set for the defence of the gospel.
18 Kaj pač? Vendar tako ali tako, bodi si s pretvezo, bodi si v resnici, oznanja se Kristus; in tega se veselim, dà, bodem se tudi veselil.
What then? notwithstanding, every way, whether in pretence, or in truth, Christ is preached; and I therein do rejoice, yea, and will rejoice.
19 Vem namreč, da mi bode to v blaginjo po prošnji vaši in pomoči duha Jezusa Kristusa,
For I know that this shall turn to my salvation through your prayer, and the supply of the Spirit of Jesus Christ,
20 Po pričakovanji in upanji mojem, da se v ničemur ne osramotim, temuč v vsej prostodušnosti, kakor vedno, bode se tudi sedaj Kristus poveličeval v mojem telesu, bodi si z življenjem, bodi si sè smrtjo.
According to my earnest expectation and my hope, that in nothing I shall be ashamed, but that with all boldness, as always, so now also Christ shall be magnified in my body, whether it be by life, or by death.
21 Kajti meni je življenje Kristus, in smrt dobiček.
For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain.
22 Ako pa življenje v mesu, to mi je dela sad, in kaj bodem izvolil, ne vem;
But if I live in the flesh, this is the fruit of my labour: yet what I shall choose I wot not.
23 Kajti pritiska me oboje, želja me je ločiti se in biti s Kristusom, mnogo je namreč bolje;
For I am in a strait betwixt two, having a desire to depart, and to be with Christ; which is far better:
24 Ostati pa v mesu potrebnejše za voljo vas.
Nevertheless to abide in the flesh is more needful for you.
25 In v tem zaupanji vem, da bodem ostal in z vami vsemi skupaj ostal v pospeh vaš in veselje v veri,
And having this confidence, I know that I shall abide and continue with you all for your furtherance and joy of faith;
26 Da bode slava vaša preobila v Kristusu Jezusu v meni, zaradi povrnitve moje k vam.
That your rejoicing may be more abundant in Jesus Christ for me by my coming to you again.
27 Samo védite se spodobno evangelju Kristusovemu, da bodem, bodi si, da pridem in vidim, bodi si v daljavi, slišal, kako je pri vas, da stojite trdno v enem duhu, eni duši, vkup boreč se za vero evangelja,
Only let your conversation be as it becometh the gospel of Christ: that whether I come and see you, or else be absent, I may hear of your affairs, that ye stand fast in one spirit, with one mind striving together for the faith of the gospel;
28 In da vas nikakor ne strašijo nasprotniki; kar je njim znamenje pogube, vam pa blaginje, in to od Boga;
And in nothing terrified by your adversaries: which is to them an evident token of perdition, but to you of salvation, and that of God.
29 Ker vam je bilo podeljeno za Kristusa, ne samo verovati vanj, nego tudi zanj trpeti;
For unto you it is given in the behalf of Christ, not only to believe on him, but also to suffer for his sake;
30 Ko imate isti boj, katerega ste videli v meni, in zdaj slišite v meni.
Having the same conflict which ye saw in me, and now hear to be in me.
