Efežanom 1
1 Pavel, apostelj Jezusa Kristusa po volji Božji, svetim bivajočim v Efezu in vernim v Kristusu Jezusu.
PAUL, an apostle of Jesus Christ, by the will of God, to the saints which are at Ephesus, and to the faithful in Christ Jesus:
2 Milost vam in mir od Boga očeta našega in Gospoda Jezusa Kristusa!
grace be unto you, and peace from God our Father, and the Lord Jesus Christ.
3 Blagoslovljen Bog in oče Gospoda našega Jezusa Kristusa, kateri nas je blagoslovil z vsakim blagoslovom duhovnim v nebesih v Kristusu;
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with every spiritual blessing in heavenly things in Christ;
4 Kakor nas je izbral v njem pred ustanovljenjem svetá, da bodimo sveti in brezmadežni pred njim v ljubezni,
as he hath elected us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and blameless before him in love:
5 Odmenivši nas naprej v otroštvo po Jezusu Kristusu záse, po ugodnosti volje svoje,
having predestinated us for his adopted children by Jesus Christ unto himself, according to the good pleasure of his will,
6 V hvalo slavne milosti svoje, v kateri nas je pomilostil v ljubljencu;
to the praise of the glory of his grace, whereby he hath made us acceptable in that beloved one;
7 V katerem imamo rešenje po krvi njegovi, odpuščenje grehov, po bogastvu milosti njegove;
in whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace;
8 Katere nam je preobilo podelil v vsej modrosti in razumnosti,
wherein he hath abounded towards us with all wisdom and intelligence,
9 Razodevši nam skrivnost volje svoje po ugodnosti svoji, katero je sklenil v sebi,
having made known to us the mystery of his will, according to his good pleasure, which he purposed in himself;
10 V naredbo izpolnitve časov, da vse zedini v Kristusu, kar je v nebesih in kar je na zemlji, v njem,
at the dispensation of the fulness of the appointed times to gather together under one head all things in Christ, whether they be things in heaven or things in earth, in him:
11 V katerem smo bili tudi izvoljeni, naprej odmenjeni po sklepu njega, ki vse deluje po sovetu volje svoje.
in whom also we have obtained our inheritance, predestinated according to the purpose of him who effectually worketh all things according to the counsel of his own will:
12 Da bodimo v hvalo slave njegove, kateri smo naprej upali v Kristusu,
that we should be to the praise of his glory, who first had hope in Christ.
13 V katerem ste tudi vi, slišavši besedo resnice, evangelj blaginje vaše, v katerem ste tudi sprejemši véro, zapečateni bili sè svetim duhom obljube,
In whom ye also trusted after ye had heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation; in whom also, having believed, ye have been sealed with the holy Spirit of promise,
14 Kateri je zastava dedščine naše, v rešenje lastnine, v hvalo slave njegove.
which is the earnest of our inheritance, until the final redemption, acquired by him, come, to the praise of his glory.
15 Zatorej tudi jaz, ko sem zvedel za vero pri vas v Kristusu Jezusu, in ljubezen do vseh svetih,
For this cause I also, since I heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus, and the love ye have to all saints,
16 Zahvaljujem se neprestano za vas, spominjajoč se vas v molitvah svojih,
have not ceased offering up my praises for you, making mention of you in my prayers,
17 Da vam Bog Gospoda našega Jezusa Kristusa, slave oče, dá duhá modrosti in razodenja v spoznanji njegovem,
that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, would give you the spirit of wisdom and revelation by the knowledge of him;
18 Razsvetljene oči srca vašega, da veste, katero je upanje poklica njegovega, in katero bogastvo slave dedščine njegove med svetimi,
the eyes of your understanding being enlightened, that you may know what is the hope to which he hath called you, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance for the saints,
19 In katera presilna velikost moči njegove do nas verujočih po kreposti silne moči njegove,
and what the transcendent greatness of his power in us, who believe, according to the energy of his mighty strength
20 Katero je pokazal v Kristusu, zbudivši ga izmed mrtvih in posadivši na desnico svojo v nebesih,
which he displayed in Christ when he raised him from the dead, and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly regions,
21 Nad vsako poglavarstvo in oblast in moč in gospostvo, in vsako ime, ki se imenuje ne samo na tem svetu, nego tudi na prihodnjem; (aiōn g165)
far above all principality, and authority, and power, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come; (aiōn g165)
22 In vse je podredil pod noge njegove, in njega je dal za glavo nad vse občini,
and hath put all things under his feet, and hath appointed him head over all to the church,
23 Katera je telo njegovo, izpolnjenje njega, ki vse v vsem izpolnjuje.
which is his body, the fulness of him that filleth all in all.
