2 Timoteju 2
1 Ti torej, dete moje, ojači se v milosti, ki je v Kristusu Jezusu;
You therefore, my child, be strengthened in the grace that is in Messiah Yeshua.
2 In kar si slišal od mene pred mnogimi pričami, tisto izročí vernim ljudém, kateri bodo zmožni tudi druge učiti.
The things which you have heard from me amongst many witnesses, commit the same things to faithful men who will be able to teach others also.
3 Ti torej trpi, kakor dober vojak Jezusa Kristusa.
You therefore must endure hardship as a good soldier of Messiah Yeshua.
4 Nobeden vojskovalec se ne zapleta v opravila življenja, da je po volji vojskovodji.
No soldier on duty entangles himself in the affairs of life, that he may please him who enrolled him as a soldier.
5 Ako se pa kdo tudi bojuje, ne venča se, ako se ne bojuje postavno.
Also, if anyone competes in athletics, he isn’t crowned unless he has competed by the rules.
6 Ratár, ki se trudi, treba da najprej dobi od pridelkov.
The farmer who labours must be the first to get a share of the crops.
7 Umej, kar pravim; Gospod ti namreč daj razum v vsem.
Consider what I say, and may the Lord give you understanding in all things.
8 Spominjaj se, da je Jezus Kristus zbudil se od mrtvih, iz semena Davidovega, po evangelji mojem,
Remember Yeshua the Messiah, risen from the dead, of the offspring of David, according to my Good News,
9 V katerem trpim do spón, kakor hudodelnik; ali beseda Božja ni vezana.
in which I suffer hardship to the point of chains as a criminal. But God’s word isn’t chained.
10 Zato vse pretrpim zaradi izvoljenih, da tudi oni zveličanje zadobé v Kristusu Jezusu z večno slavo. (aiōnios g166)
Therefore I endure all things for the chosen ones’ sake, that they also may obtain the salvation which is in Messiah Yeshua with eternal glory. (aiōnios g166)
11 Resnična je beseda, če smo namreč vred umrli, bodemo tudi vred živeli;
This saying is trustworthy: “For if we died with him, we will also live with him.
12 Če pretrpimo, bodemo tudi vred kraljevali; če ga zatajimo, bode tudi on nas zatajil;
If we endure, we will also reign with him. If we deny him, he also will deny us.
13 Če smo nezvesti, on ostane zvest; zatajiti se ne more.
If we are faithless, he remains faithful; for he can’t deny himself.”
14 Tako opominjaj, roteč pred Gospodom, ne boriti se z besedami za nič prida, v pogubo poslušajočim.
Remind them of these things, charging them in the sight of the Lord that they don’t argue about words to no profit, to the subverting of those who hear.
15 Prizadevaj si izkušenega se storiti Bogu, delalca, ki ga ne bodi sram, ki prav ravná z besedo resnice.
Give diligence to present yourself approved by God, a workman who doesn’t need to be ashamed, properly handling the Word of Truth.
16 Posvetnega pa govoričenja ogiblji se; kajti vedno bolj bodo napredovali v brezbožnosti,
But shun empty chatter, for it will go further in ungodliness,
17 In beseda njih bode razjedala kakor rak,
and those words will consume like gangrene, of whom is Hymenaeus and Philetus:
18 Izmed katerih je Himenej in Filet, katera sta izgrešila resnico, rekóč, da je že bilo vstajenje, in nekim vero motijo.
men who have erred concerning the truth, saying that the resurrection is already past, and overthrowing the faith of some.
19 Trdna tla pa Božja stojé, imajoč ta pečat: "Gospod pozna svoje," in "Odstopi naj od krivice vsak, kdor imenuje ime Kristusovo."
However, God’s firm foundation stands, having this seal: “The Lord knows those who are his,” and, “Let every one who names the name of the Lord depart from unrighteousness.”
20 V veliki hiši pa niso samo zlate in srebrne posode, nego tudi lesene in lončene in ene v čast, ene v nečast.
Now in a large house there are not only vessels of gold and of silver, but also of wood and of clay. Some are for honour and some for dishonour.
21 Ako se torej kdo oznaži téh, bode posoda v čast, posvečena in koristna Gospodu, pripravljena za sleherno dobro delo.
If anyone therefore purges himself from these, he will be a vessel for honour, sanctified, and suitable for the master’s use, prepared for every good work.
22 Mladostnih pa poželénj ogiblji se, nego hodi za pravico, vero, ljubeznijo, mirom z njimi, kateri Gospoda kličejo iz čistega srca.
Flee from youthful lusts; but pursue righteousness, faith, love, and peace with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart.
23 Abotnih pa in neslanih prepirov iznebi se, vedóč, da rodévajo boje;
But refuse foolish and ignorant questionings, knowing that they generate strife.
24 Hlapec pa Gospodov naj se ne bojuje, nego kroták bodi proti vsem, dober učitelj, potrpežljiv,
The Lord’s servant must not quarrel, but be gentle towards all, able to teach, patient,
25 V krotkosti naj zavrača nasprotnike, ali jim morebiti Bog ne dá kdaj kesanja v spoznanje resnice,
in gentleness correcting those who oppose him. Perhaps God may give them repentance leading to a full knowledge of the truth,
26 In se iztreznijo iz pasti hudičeve, ko jih je vjel v voljo svojo.
and they may recover themselves out of the devil’s snare, having been taken captive by him to do his will.
