2 Tesaloničanom 3

1 V ostalem, molite, bratje, za nas, da se širi beseda Gospodova in slaví, kakor tudi pri vas,

Finally, brothers, pray about us, so that the word of the Lord may run and be glorified, just as also with you,

2 In da se rešimo nespametnih in hudobnih ljudî; kajti vera ni vseh.

and that we may be delivered from aberrant and wicked men, for the faith is not of all men.

3 Zvest pa je Gospod, kateri vas bode utrdil in branil zlega,

But the Lord is faithful, who will establish you and will keep you from evil.

4 Zaupamo pa v Gospodu vam, da kar vam naročamo, tudi delate in bodete delali.

And we are persuaded in the Lord toward you, that what we command you, ye both are doing and will do.

5 Gospod pa naj vodi srca vaša v ljubezen Božjo, in v stanovitnost Kristusovo.

And may the Lord direct your hearts for the love of God, and for the steadfastness of the Christ.

6 Naročamo pa vam, bratje, v imenu Gospoda našega Jezusa Kristusa, da se ogibljete vsakega brata, kateri živi neredno in ne po sporočilu, katero je prejel od nas.

Now we command you, brothers, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, for you to withdraw from every brother who walks disorderly and not according to the tradition, which they received from us.

7 Kajti sami veste, kako je nas posnemati treba;

For ye yourselves know how it is necessary to imitate us. Because we did not act disorderly among you,

8 Ker nismo bili neredni med vami, in ne zastonj kruha jedli od koga, nego s trudom in težavo smo delali noč in dan, da bi ne nadlegovali koga izmed vas;

nor did we eat bread gratis from any man, but in labor and toil, working night and day in order not to burden any of you.

9 Ne da bi ne imeli oblasti, nego da se vam damo v zgled, da nas posnemate.

Not because we have no right, but that we might give ourselves an example to you, in order to imitate us.

10 Saj smo tudi, ko smo bili pri vas, to naročali vam, da če kdo noče delati, naj tudi ne jé.

For even when we were with you we commanded you this, that if any man will not work, neither let him eat.

11 Čujemo namreč, da nekateri med vami neredno živé, in ne delajo nič, nego pečajo se z nepotrebnim.

For we hear of some who walk among you disorderly, not working at all, but being busybodies.

12 Takim pa naročamo in jih opominjamo po Gospodu našem Jezusu Kristusu, da naj v miru delajoč svoj kruh jedó.

Now to such men we command and exhort by our Lord Jesus Christ, that, working with quietness, they should eat their own bread.

13 Vi pa, bratje, ne opešajte v dobrem dejanji.

But ye, brothers, do not become weary doing good.

14 Če pa kdo ne sluša besede naše po listu, njega zaznamovajte, in ne pečajte se z njim, da ga bode sram;

And if any man does not obey our word by this letter, note that man, and do not associate with him, so that he may be ashamed.

15 In ne imejte ga za sovražnika, nego svarite kakor brata.

And yet do not regard him as an enemy, but admonish him as a brother.

16 On pa, Gospod mirú, daj vam mir vedno, vsakoršen. Gospod z vami vsemi!

Now may the Lord of peace himself give you peace through everything in every way. The Lord is with all of you.
