2 Korinčanom 7

1 Imajoč torej te obljube, ljubljeni, očistimo se vsakega madeža mesa in duha dogotavljaje svetost v strahu Božjem.

Having therefore these promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.

2 Primite nas. Nikomur nismo krivice storili, nikogar nismo popačili, nikogar nismo ukanili.

Receive us; we have wronged no man, we have corrupted no man, we have defrauded no man.

3 Ne govorim na obsodbo, kajti poprej sem rekel, da ste tako v srcih naših, da bi mi radi z vami vkup umrli in vkup živeli.

I speak not [this] to condemn [you]: for I have said before, that ye are in our hearts to die and live with [you].

4 Velika je moja zaupnost v govoru k vam, velika moja hvala za voljo vas; napolnjen sem tolažbe, preobilno imam radosti poleg vse stiske naše.

Great [is] my boldness of speech towards you, great [is] my glorying concerning you: I am filled with comfort, I am exceeding joyful in all our tribulation.

5 Kajti kedar smo prišli v Macedonijo, nobenega počitka ni imelo meso naše, nego v vsem smo bili stiskani: zvunaj boji, znotraj strahi.

For, when we had come into Macedonia, our flesh had no rest, but we were troubled on every side; without [were] fightings, within [were] fears.

6 Ali Bog, kteri tolaži ponižne, potolažil nas je s prihodom Titovim.

Nevertheless God, that comforteth those that are cast down, comforted us by the coming of Titus;

7 Toda ne samo s prihodom, nego tudi s tolažbo, s ktero se je on potolažil za vas, pripovedujoč nam vaše želenje, vaš jok, vašo vnetost za mene, tako da sem se bolje obveselil.

And not by his coming only, but by the consolation with which he was comforted in you, when he told us your earnest desire, your mourning, your fervent mind towards me; so that I rejoiced the more.

8 Ker če tudi sem vas razžalostil z listom, ni mi žal, če tudi mi je žal bilo, kajti vidim, da vas je oni list, če tudi za čas, razžalostil.

For though I made you sorry with a letter, I do not repent, though I did repent: for I perceive that the same epistle hath made you sorry, though [it was] but for a season.

9 Sedaj se radujem ne da ste se razžalostili, nego da ste se razžalostili na pokoro; kajti razžalostili ste se po Bogu, da bi v ničemer kvara ne imeli od nas.

Now I rejoice, not that ye were made sorry, but that ye sorrowed to repentance: for ye were made sorry after a godly manner, that ye might receive damage by us in nothing.

10 Ker žalost po Bogu napravlja pokoro na zveličanje, za ktero se ni kesati, a žalost sveta napravlja smrt.

For godly sorrow worketh penitence to salvation not to be repented of: but the sorrow of the world worketh death.

11 Kajti lej, to samo, da ste se po Bogu razžalostili, kakošno vam je napravilo marljivost, pa zagovarjanje, pa nevoljo, pa strah, pa želenje, pa vnetost, pa maščevanje! V vsem ste se pokazali, da ste čisti v delu.

For behold this very thing, that ye sorrowed after a godly sort, what carefulness it wrought in you, yea, [what] clearing of yourselves, yea, [what] indignation, yea, [what] fear, yea, [what] vehement desire, yea, [what] zeal, yea, [what] avenging! In all [things] ye have approved yourselves to be clear in this matter.

12 Za kaj če tudi sem vam pisal, pisal sem ne za voljo tistega, kteri je krivico storil, tudi ne za voljo tistega, kteremu se je krivica storila, nego da se pokaže marljivost naša za vas med vami pričo Boga.

Wherefore, though I wrote to you, [I did it] not for his cause that had done the wrong, nor for his cause that suffered wrong, but that our care for you in the sight of God might appear to you.

13 Za to smo potolaženi s tolažbo vašo; še obilneje pa smo se obradovali nad radostjo Titovo, ker ste spokojili duh njegov vsi vi.

Therefore we were comforted in your comfort: and exceedingly the more we rejoiced for the joy of Titus, because his spirit was refreshed by you all.

14 Kajti če sem se v čem njemu pohvalil z vami, nisem se osramotil; nego kakor smo vam vse v resnici govorili, tako je tudi pohvala naša k Titu resnična postala.

For if I have boasted any thing to him concerning you, I am not ashamed; but as we spoke all things to you in truth, even so our boasting, which [I made] before Titus, is found a truth.

15 In srce njegovo vam je bolje vdano, kedar se spominja poslušnosti vseh vas, kako ste ga s strahom in trepetom sprejeli.

And his tender affection is more abundant towards you, whilst he remembereth the obedience of you all, how with fear and trembling ye received him.

16 Radujem se torej, da se v vsem smem oslanjati na vas.

I rejoice therefore that I have confidence in you in all [things].
