1 Peter 5
1 Starejšine med vami opominjam, sostarejšina in priča trpljenj Kristusovih, deležnik tudi slave, ki se ima razodeti:
Now to you who are presbyters I make this appeal; for I am myself a presbyter, and was a witness of the sufferings of Christ, and also a partaker of the glory about to be revealed.
2 Pasite čedo Božjo med vami, nadzorujoč ne po sili, nego prostovoljno; tudi ne za grd dobiček, nego radovoljno,
Be shepherds to your flock of God; take charge of them willingly, and not through compulsion; not for filthy lucre, but with a willing mind;
3 Tudi ne kakor gospodovalci dedščin, nego kakor zgledi postavši čede;
not by way of lording it over your heritage, but by becoming examples to the flock.
4 In ko se bode prikazal višji pastir, dobili bodete nevenljivi venec slave.
Then, when the Chief Shepherd shall appear, you too will receive the fadeless wreath of glory.
5 Enako, mlajši, pokorni bodite starejšim; vsi pa pokorni si med seboj, privežite si ponižnost; ker "Bog se ustavlja prevzetnim, ponižnim pa daje milost."
You younger men must submit to the presbyters; and all of you must put on the garment of humility and serve one another, for God resists the haughty, But gives grace to the humble.
6 Ponižajte se tedaj pod mogočno roko Božjo, da vas poviša ob času;
So humble yourselves under God’s mighty hand, so that he may exalt you in due time.
7 Vso skrb svojo vrzite nanj, ker on skrbi za vas.
Cast all your care upon him, for he ever cares for you.
8 Trezni bodite, čujte, ker nasprotnik vaš, hudič, kakor lev rujoveč hodi okrog in išče koga bi pogoltnil.
Be temperate, be vigilant; because your enemy, the devil, is prowling about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.
9 Njemu se ustavljajte, trdni v veri, vedoč, da ista trpljenja prenaša bratovščina vaša na svetu.
Resist him, standing firm in the faith, knowing well that the same afflictions are being accomplished in your brothers that are in the world.
10 Bog pa vse milosti, kateri nas je poklical v večno slavo svojo v Kristusu Jezusu, po kratkem trpljenji pripravi vas sam, utrdi, pokrepčaj, ustanóvi! (aiōnios g166)
But the God of all grace, who has called us by Christ Jesus to share his eternal glory, will, after you have suffered a while, make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle you. (aiōnios g166)
His is the dominion forever and ever; Amen. (aiōn g165)
12 Po Silvanu sem vam, zvestem bratu, kakor sodim, na kratko pisal, opominjajoč in pričajoč, da je tá prava milost Božja, v kateri stojite.
By Sylvanus, a faithful brother of yours, as I suppose, I have written you briefly, to comfort you, and to testify that this is the true grace of God. In this stand fast.
13 Pozdravlja vas izvoljena v Babilonu, in Marko sin moj.
Your sister church in Babylon, elect with you, sends you salutations, and so does Marcus, my son.
14 Pozdravljajte se med seboj v poljubu ljubezni. Mir vam vsem v Kristusu Jezusu! Amen.
Salute one another with a kiss of love. Peace be to you all who are in Christ Jesus.
