Titu 2
1 Toda ti govori stvari, ki so primerne zdravemu nauku,
But do, thou, speak the things which become the healthful instruction: —
2 da bodo starejši možje trezni, dostojanstveni, zmerni, brez graje v veri, v ljubezni, v potrpežljivosti.
That, aged men, be, sober, grave, sober-minded, healthy in their faith, love, endurance;
3 Prav tako starejše ženske, da bodo v obnašanju, kakor se spodobi svetosti, ne lažne obtoževalke, ne vdane mnogemu vinu, učiteljice dobrih stvari;
Aged women, in the same way, in deportment, as becometh sacred persons, not given to intrigue, nor yet, to much wine, enslaved, teachers of virtue, —
4 da bodo lahko učile mlade ženske biti trezno misleče, imeti rade svoje soproge, imeti rade svoje otroke,
That they may constrain the young women to be, lovers of their husbands, lovers of their children,
5 biti razumne, čiste, varuhinje doma, dobre, poslušne svojim soprogom, da se zoper Božjo besedo ne izreka bogokletja.
soberminded, chaste, workers at home, good, submitting themselves to their own husbands, —that, the word of God, be not defamed;
6 Prav tako spodbujaj mladeniče, da bodo treznega mišljenja.
The younger men, in the same way, exhort thou to be sober-minded:
7 V vseh stvareh se kaži za vzor dobrih del. V nauku prikaži nepokvarjenost, resnost, iskrenost,
In all things, shewing, thyself, an ensample of noble works, —in thine instruction, uncorruptness, gravity,
8 zdrav govor, ki ne more biti obsojen; da bo lahko osramočen, kdor je iz nasprotne strani, ker ne bo imel o tebi povedati nobene hudobne stvari.
healthful discourse that cannot be condemned, in order that, he that is of the contrary part, may relent, having nothing to say concerning us that is disparaging:
9 Spodbujaj služabnike, da so poslušni svojim lastnim gospodarjem in da jim res v vseh stvareh ugodijo brez ugovarjanja;
Servants, unto their own masters, to be submitting themselves in all things, to be, well-pleasing, not gainsaying,
10 brez kraje, temveč prikažejo vso dobro zvestobo; da lahko v vseh stvareh olepšajo nauk Boga, našega Odrešenika.
not taking anything away, shewing, all good faith, —that, the instruction which is of our Saviour God, they may adorn in all things.
11 Kajti Božja milost, ki prinaša rešitev duš, se je prikazala vsem ljudem
For the favour of God, bringing salvation for all men, hath shone forth,
12 in nas uči, da naj bi v tem sedanjem svetu zanikali brezbožnost in posvetna poželenja, živeli trezno, pravično in bogaboječe (aiōn g165)
Putting us under discipline—in order that, —denying ourselves of ungodliness and worldly covetings, in a soberminded and righteous and godly manner, we should live, in the present age, (aiōn g165)
13 in pričakovali to blagoslovljeno upanje in veličastno pojavitev vélikega Boga in našega Odrešenika, Jezusa Kristusa;
Prepared to welcome the happy hope and forthshining of the glory of the great God and our Saviour Christ Jesus, —
14 ki je samega sebe dal za nas, da bi nas lahko odkupil pred vso krivičnostjo in zase očistil izvoljene ljudi, vnete za dobra dela.
Who gave himself up in our behalf, that he might redeem us from all manner of lawlessness, and purify for himself a people as his own treasure—zealous of noble works.
15 Te stvari govori in spodbujaj in oštevaj z vso oblastjo. Ne dopusti, da te kdorkoli prezira.
As to these things, be speaking and exhorting and reproving, with all manner of precept: let, no one, disregard thee!
