Psalmi 78
1 Pazljivo prisluhni, oh moje ljudstvo, k moji postavi, nagni svoja ušesa k besedam iz mojih ust.
Maschil of Asaph. Give ear, O my people, to my teaching; incline your ears to the words of my mouth.
2 Svoja usta bom odprl v prispodobi, izrekel bom temne govore od davnine,
I will open my mouth with a parable; I will utter dark sayings concerning days of old;
3 ki smo jih slišali in poznali in so nam jih naši očetje povedali.
That which we have heard and known, and our fathers have told us,
4 Ne bomo jih skrili pred njihovimi otroki, prikazujoč prihajajočemu rodu Gospodove hvalnice in njegovo moč ter njegova čudovita dela, ki jih je storil.
We will not hide from their children, telling to the generation to come the praises of the LORD, and His strength, and His wondrous works that He hath done.
5 Kajti osnoval je pričevanje v Jakobu in določil postavo v Izraelu, ki jo je zapovedal našim očetom, da bi jo lahko naredili znano svojim otrokom,
For He established a testimony in Jacob, and appointed a law in Israel, which He commanded our fathers, that they should make them known to their children;
6 da bi jih prihajajoči rod lahko spoznal, celó otroci, ki naj bi bili rojeni, ki naj bi vstali in jih oznanili svojim otrokom,
That the generation to come might know them, even the children that should be born; who should arise and tell them to their children,
7 da bi svoje upanje lahko usmerili v Boga in ne bi pozabili Božjih del, temveč bi se držali njegovih zapovedi
That they might put their confidence in God, and not forget the works of God, but keep His commandments;
8 in bi ne bili kakor njihovi očetje, trmoglav in uporen rod, rod, ki svojega srca ni pravilno postavil in čigar duh z Bogom ni bil neomajen.
And might not be as their fathers, a stubborn and rebellious generation; a generation that set not their heart aright, and whose spirit was not stedfast with God.
9 Efrájimovi otroci, ki so bili oboroženi in nosili loke, so se na dan bitke obrnili nazaj.
The children of Ephraim were as archers handling the bow, that turned back in the day of battle.
10 Niso ohranjali Božje zaveze in odklanjali so se ravnati po njegovi postavi
They kept not the covenant of God, and refused to walk in His law;
11 in pozabili so njegova dela in njegove čudeže, ki jim jih je pokazal.
And they forgot His doings, and His wondrous works that He had shown them.
12 Čudovite stvari je storil v očeh njihovih očetov v egiptovski deželi, na polju Coana.
Marvellous things did He in the sight of their fathers, in the land of Egypt, in the field of Zoan.
13 Razdelil je morje, jih pripravil, da so prešli skozenj in storil je, da so vode stale kakor kup.
He cleaved the sea, and caused them to pass through; and He made the waters to stand as a heap.
14 Tudi podnevi jih je vodil z oblakom in vso noč z ognjeno svetlobo.
By day also He led them with a cloud, and all the night with a light of fire.
15 Razklal je skale v divjini in jim dal piti kakor iz velikih globin.
He cleaved rocks in the wilderness, and gave them drink abundantly as out of the great deep.
16 Tudi vodne tokove je privedel iz skale in storil, da so vode tekle kakor reke.
He brought streams also out of the rock, and caused waters to run down like rivers.
17 V divjini pa so še bolj grešili zoper njega z izzivanjem Najvišjega.
Yet went they on still to sin against Him, to rebel against the Most High in the desert.
18 V svojem srcu so skušali Boga z zahtevanjem jedi za svoje poželenje.
And they tried God in their heart by asking food for their craving.
19 Da, govorili so zoper Boga; rekli so: »Ali Bog lahko oskrbi mizo v divjini?«
Yea, they spoke against God; they said: 'Can God prepare a table in the wilderness?
20 Glej, udaril je skalo, da so pridrle vode in vodotoki so preplavili, ali lahko da tudi kruh? Ali za svoje ljudstvo lahko priskrbi meso?
Behold, He smote the rock, that waters gushed out, and streams overflowed; can He give bread also? or will He provide flesh for His people?'
21 Torej Gospod je to slišal in je bil ogorčen, tako je bil zoper Jakoba vžgan ogenj in tudi jeza je prišla zoper Izrael,
Therefore the LORD heard, and was wroth; and a fire was kindled against Jacob, and anger also went up against Israel;
22 ker niso verovali v Boga in niso zaupali v njegovo rešitev duš,
Because they believed not in God, and trusted not in His salvation.
23 čeprav je zapovedal oblakom od zgoraj in odprl vrata nebes
And He commanded the skies above, and opened the doors of heaven;
24 in je nanje deževal mano za jed ter jim dajal od nebeškega žita.
And He caused manna to rain upon them for food, and gave them of the corn of heaven.
25 Človek je jedel hrano angelov. Poslal jim je mesa do sitosti.
Man did eat the bread of the mighty; He sent them provisions to the full.
26 Vzhodniku je velel, da zapiha na nebu in s svojo močjo je privedel južni veter.
He caused the east wind to set forth in heaven; and by His power He brought on the south wind.
27 Prav tako je nanje deževal meso kakor prah in operjeno perjad podobno kakor morski pesek.
He caused flesh also to rain upon them as the dust, and winged fowl as the sand of the seas;
28 Dopustil jim je pasti v sredo njihovega tabora, okoli njihovih prebivališč.
And He let it fall in the midst of their camp, round about their dwellings.
29 Tako so jedli in bili popolnoma nasičeni, kajti izročil jim je njihovo lastno željo;
So they did eat, and were well filled; and He gave them that which they craved.
30 niso bili odvrnjeni od svoje želje. Vendar ko je bila njihova jed še v njihovih ustih,
They were not estranged from their craving, their food was yet in their mouths,
31 je nadnje prišel Božji bes in pokončal najdebelejše izmed njih in z udarcem zrušil izbrane Izraelove ljudi.
When the anger of God went up against them, and slew of the lustieth among them, and smote down the young men of Israel.
32 Kajti vsi ti so še vedno grešili in niso verovali zaradi njegovih čudovitih del.
For all this they sinned still, and believed not in His wondrous works.
33 Zato je njihove dneve použil v ničevosti in njihova leta v muki.
Therefore He ended their days as a breath, and their years in terror.
34 Ko jih je ubijal, potem so ga iskali in vrnili so se ter zgodaj poizvedovali za Bogom.
When He slew them, then they would inquire after Him, and turn back and seek God earnestly.
35 Spomnili so se, da je bil Bog njihova skala in vzvišeni Bog njihov odkupitelj.
And they remembered that God was their Rock, and the Most High God their redeemer.
36 Kljub temu so se mu prilizovali s svojimi usti in mu lagali s svojimi jeziki.
But they beguiled Him with their mouth, and lied unto Him with their tongue.
37 Kajti njihovo srce ni bilo popolnoma z njim niti niso bili neomajni v njegovi zavezi.
For their heart was not stedfast with Him, neither were they faithful in His covenant.
38 Toda on, ki je poln sočutja, je odpustil njihovo krivičnost in jih ni uničil. Da, svojo jezo je pogosto obrnil proč in ni razvnel vsega svojega besa.
But He, being full of compassion, forgiveth iniquity, and destroyeth not; yea, many a time doth He turn His anger away, and doth not stir up all His wrath.
39 Kajti spomnil se je, da so bili samo meso, veter, ki premine in ne prihaja ponovno.
So He remembered that they were but flesh, a wind that passeth away, and cometh not again.
40 Kako pogosto so ga dražili v divjini in ga žalostili v puščavi!
How oft did they rebel against Him in the wilderness, and grieve Him in the desert!
41 Da, obrnili so se nazaj in skušali Boga in omejevali Svetega Izraelovega.
And still again they tried God, and set bounds to the Holy One of Israel.
42 Niso se spomnili njegove roke niti dneva, ko jih je osvobodil pred sovražnikom.
They remembered not His hand, nor the day when He redeemed them from the adversary.
43 Kako je v Egiptu izvršil svoja znamenja in svoje čudeže na polju Coana
How He set His signs in Egypt, and His wonders in the field of Zoan;
44 in njihove reke spremenil v kri in njihove potoke, da niso mogli piti.
And turned their rivers into blood, so that they could not drink their streams.
45 Mednje je poslal številne vrste muh, ki so jih požirale in žabe, ki so jih uničevale.
He sent among them swarms of flies, which devoured them; and frogs, which destroyed them.
46 Tudi njihov prirastek je dal gosenici in njihov trud leteči kobilici.
He gave also their increase unto the caterpillar, and their labour unto the locust.
47 Njihove trte je uničil s točo in njihove egiptovske smokve z zmrzaljo.
He destroyed their vines with hail, and their sycamore-trees with frost.
48 Tudi njihovo živino je predal toči in njihove trope vročim strelam.
He gave over their cattle also to the hail, and their flocks to fiery bolts.
49 S pošiljanjem zlih angelov mednje je nanje vrgel okrutnost svoje jeze, bes, ogorčenost in stisko.
He sent forth upon them the fierceness of His anger, wrath, and indignation, and trouble, a sending of messengers of evil.
50 Pripravil je pot svoji jezi, njihovi duši ni prizanesel pred smrtjo, temveč je njihovo življenje odstopil kužni bolezni
He levelled a path for His anger; He spared not their soul from death, but gave their life over to the pestilence;
51 in udaril vsakega prvorojenca v Egiptu, njihovo glavno moč v Hamovih šotorih.
And smote all the first-born in Egypt, the first-fruits of their strength in the tents of Ham;
52 Toda svojemu lastnemu ljudstvu je storil, da gredo naprej kakor ovce in po divjini jih je usmerjal kakor trop.
But He made His own people to go forth like sheep, and guided them in the wilderness like a flock.
53 Vodil jih je varno, tako da se niso bali, toda njihove sovražnike je preplavilo morje.
And He led them safely, and they feared not; but the sea overwhelmed their enemies.
54 Privedel jih je do meje svojega svetišča, celo k tej gori, ki jo je pridobila njegova desnica.
And He brought them to His holy border, to the mountain, which His right hand had gotten.
55 Pred njimi je spodil tudi pogane in jim z mejno črto razdelil dediščino in Izraelovim rodovom storil, da prebivajo v svojih šotorih.
He drove out the nations also before them, and allotted them for an inheritance by line, and made the tribes of Israel to dwell in their tents.
56 Kljub temu so skušali in dražili najvišjega Boga in se niso držali njegovih pričevanj,
Yet they tried and provoked God, the Most High, and kept not His testimonies;
57 temveč so se obrnili nazaj in postopali nezvesto kakor njihovi očetje. Obrnjeni so bili na stran kakor varljiv lok.
But turned back, and dealt treacherously like their fathers; they were turned aside like a deceitful bow.
58 Kajti s svojimi visokimi mesti so ga dražili do jeze in s svojimi rezanimi podobami so ga pripravili do ljubosumnosti.
For they provoked Him with their high places, and moved Him to jealousy with their graven images.
59 Ko je Bog to slišal, je bil ogorčen in silno preziral Izraela,
God heard, and was wroth, and He greatly abhorred Israel;
60 tako da je zapustil bivališče v Šilu, šotorsko svetišče, ki ga je postavil med ljudmi
And He forsook the tabernacle of Shiloh, the tent which He had made to dwell among men;
61 in svojo moč izročil v ujetništvo in svojo slavo v sovražnikovo roko.
And delivered His strength into captivity, and His glory into the adversary's hand.
62 Svoje ljudstvo je izročil meču in ogorčen je bil nad svojo dediščino.
He gave His people over also unto the sword; and was wroth with His inheritance.
63 Ogenj je použil njihove mladeniče in njihove mladenke niso bile omožene.
Fire devoured their young men; and their virgins had no marriage-song.
64 Njihovi duhovniki so padli pod mečem in njihove vdove niso pripravile objokovanja.
Their priests fell by the sword; and their widows made no lamentation.
65 Potem se je Gospod prebudil kakor iz spanja in kakor mogočen človek, ki vzklika zaradi vina.
Then the Lord awaked as one asleep, like a mighty man recovering from wine.
66 Svoje sovražnike je udaril v njihove zadnje dele. Postavil jih je v neprestano grajo.
And He smote His adversaries backward; He put upon them a perpetual reproach.
67 Poleg tega je odklonil Jožefovo šotorsko svetišče in ni izbral Efrájimovega rodu,
Moreover He abhorred the tent of Joseph, and chose not the tribe of Ephraim;
68 temveč je izbral Judov rod, goro Sion, ki jo je ljubil.
But chose the tribe of Judah, the mount Zion which He loved.
69 Svoje svetišče je zgradil kakor visoke palače, kakor zemljo, ki jo je utrdil na veke.
And He built His sanctuary like the heights, like the earth which He hath founded for ever.
70 Poleg tega je izbral svojega služabnika Davida in ga vzel od ovčjih staj.
He chose David also His servant, and took him from the sheepfolds;
71 Od sledenja brejim ovcam z mladiči ga je privedel, da pase Jakoba, njegovo ljudstvo in Izraela, njegovo dediščino.
From following the ewes that give suck He brought him, to be shepherd over Jacob His people, and Israel His inheritance.
72 Tako jih je hranil glede na neokrnjenost svojega srca in jih usmerjal s spretnostjo svojih rok.
So he shepherded them according to the integrity of his heart; and lead them by the skilfulness of his hands.
