Psalmi 76

1 V Judu je Bog poznan. Njegovo ime v Izraelu je veliko.

In Judah [Praised], God is known. His name is great in Israel [God prevails].

2 Tudi v Salemu je njegovo šotorsko svetišče in njegovo bivališče na Sionu.

His tabernacle is also in Salem [Complete peace, Perfect peace]; His dwelling place in Zion [Mountain ridge, Marking].

3 Tam je prelomil puščice loka, ščit, meč in bitko. (Sela)

There he broke the flaming arrows of the bow, the shield, and the sword, and the weapons of war. (Selah) ·contemplation with musical interlude·.

4 Ti si veličastnejši in odličnejši kakor gore plena.

Glorious are you, and excellent, more than mountains of game.

5 Arogantni so oplenjeni, spali so svoje spanje. Nihče izmed mogočnih mož ni našel svojih rok.

Valiant men lie plundered, they have slept their last sleep. None of the men of war can lift their hands.

6 Ob tvojem oštevanju, Bog Jakobov, sta tako bojni voz, kakor konj vržena v smrtno spanje.

At your rebuke, God of Jacob [Supplanter], both chariot and horse are cast into a deep sleep.

7 Ti, celó tebe se je bati in kdo lahko stoji v tvojem pogledu, kadar si jezen?

You, even you, are to be feared. Who can stand in your sight when you are angry?

8 Povzročil si, da se z neba sliši sodba; zemlja se je zbala in postala tiha,

You pronounced judgment to be sh'ma ·heard obeyed· from heaven. The earth feared, and was silent,

9 ko je k sodbi vstal Bog, da reši vse krotke na zemlji. (Sela)

when God arose to judgment, to save all the afflicted ones of the earth. (Selah) ·contemplation with musical interlude·.

10 Zagotovo te bo hvalil človeški bes. Ostanek besa boš ti obrzdal.

Surely the wrath of man yadah ·extend hands in thankful praise· to you. The survivors of your wrath are restrained.

11 Zaobljubi se in plačaj Gospodu, svojemu Bogu. Naj vsi tisti, ki so okoli njega, prinesejo darila tistemu, ki bi se ga morali bati.

Make vows to Adonai your God, and fulfill them! Let all of his neighbors bring presents to him who is to be feared.

12 Odrezal bo duha princev. Strašen je do zemeljskih kraljev.

He will cut off the spirit of princes. He is feared by the kings of the earth.
