Psalmi 56

1 Bodi mi usmiljen, oh Bog, kajti človek me hoče požreti, borben je, dnevno me zatira.

For the Chief Musician; set to Jonath elem rehokim. [A Psalm] of David: Michtam: when the Philistines took him in Gath. Be merciful unto me, O God; for man would swallow me up: all the day long he fighting oppresseth me.

2 Moji sovražniki me hočejo vsak dan požreti, kajti mnogo jih je, ki se borijo zoper mene, oh ti Najvišji.

Mine enemies would swallow me up all the day long: for they be many that fight proudly against me.

3 Kadar sem prestrašen, bom zaupal vate.

What time I am afraid, I will put my trust in thee.

4 V Bogu bom hvalil njegovo besedo, v Boga sem položil svoje trdno upanje; ne bom se bal, kaj mi more storiti meso.

In God I will praise his word: in God have I put my trust, I will not be afraid; what can flesh do unto me?

5 Vsak dan pačijo moje besede. Vse njihove misli so zoper mene za zlo.

All the day long they wrest my words: all their thoughts are against me for evil.

6 Zbirajo se skupaj, skrivajo se, gledajo moje korake, ko čakajo na mojo dušo.

They gather themselves together, they hide themselves, they mark my steps, even as they have waited for my soul.

7 Ali bodo pobegnili s krivičnostjo? V svoji jezi potri ljudstva, oh Bog.

Shall they escape by iniquity? in anger cast down the peoples, O God.

8 Ti pripoveduješ o mojih tavanjih. Moje solze si polagaš v svoj meh. Mar niso v tvoji knjigi?

Thou tellest my wanderings: put thou my tears into thy bottle; are they not in thy book?

9 Ko kličem k tebi, potem se bodo moji sovražniki obrnili proč. To vem, kajti Bog je zame.

Then shall mine enemies turn back in the day that I call: this I know, that God is for me.

10 V Bogu bom hvalil njegovo besedo. V Gospodu bom hvalil njegovo besedo.

In God will I praise [his] word: in the LORD will I praise [his] word.

11 V Boga sem položil svoje trdno upanje; ne bom se bal, kaj mi lahko stori človek.

In God have I put my trust, I will not be afraid; what can man do unto me?

12 Tvoje zaobljube so nad menoj, oh Bog, povrnil ti bom hvalnice.

Thy vows are upon me, O God: I will render thank offerings unto thee.

13 Kajti mojo dušo si osvobodil pred smrtjo. Mar mojih stopal ne boš osvobodil pred padcem, da lahko hodim pred Bogom v svetlobi živih?

For thou hast delivered my soul from death: [hast thou] not [delivered] my feet from falling? that I may walk before God in the light of the living.
