Psalmi 48
1 Velik je Gospod in silno bodi hvaljen v mestu našega Boga, na gori njegove svetosti.
Great is Jehovah, and greatly to be praised in the city of our God, in his holy mountain.
2 Lepa zaradi lege, radost celotne zemlje, je gora Sion na straneh severa, mesto vélikega Kralja.
Beautiful in elevation, the joy of the whole earth, is mount Zion, on the sides of the north, the city of the great King.
3 Bog je v njenih palačah razpoznan za zatočišče.
God has made himself known in her palaces for a refuge.
4 Kajti, glej, kralji so bili zbrani, skupaj so šli mimo.
For, lo, the kings assembled themselves. They passed by together.
5 Videli so to in tako so se čudili; bili so vznemirjeni in odhiteli.
They saw it, then were they amazed. They were dismayed, they hastened away.
6 Tam sta jih prevzela strah in bolečina kakor žensko v porodnih mukah.
Trembling took hold of them there, pain, as of a woman in travail.
7 Z vzhodnikom lomiš ladje iz Taršíša.
With the east wind thou break the ships of Tarshish.
8 Kakor smo slišali, tako smo videli v mestu Gospoda nad bojevniki, v mestu svojega Boga. Bog ga bo utrdil na veke. (Sela)
As we have heard, so we have seen in the city of Jehovah of hosts, in the city of our God, God will establish it forever. (Selah)
9 Premišljevali smo o tvoji ljubeči skrbnosti, oh Bog, v sredi tvojega templja.
We have thought on thy loving kindness, O God, in the midst of thy temple.
10 Glede na tvoje ime, oh Bog, taka je tvoja hvala do koncev zemlje. Tvoja desnica je polna pravičnosti.
As is thy name, O God, so is thy praise to the ends of the earth. Thy right hand is full of righteousness.
11 Naj se gora Sion veseli, naj bodo Judove hčere radostne zaradi tvojih sodb.
Let mount Zion be glad. Let the daughters of Judah rejoice because of thy judgments.
12 Hodite okoli Siona in ga obhodite, štejte njegove stolpe.
Walk about Zion, and go round about her. Number the towers of it,
13 Dobro označite njegove branike, opazujte njegove palače, da boste to lahko pripovedovali naslednjemu rodu.
mark ye well her bulwarks, consider her palaces, that ye may tell it to the generation following.
14 Kajti ta Bog je naš Bog na veke vekov. On bo naš vodnik celó do smrti.
For this God is our God forever and ever. He will be our guide even to death.
