1 Približali so se poglavarji očetov družin Gileádovih otrok, sinú Mahírja, sinú Manáseja, iz družin Jožefovih sinov in spregovorili pred Mojzesom in pred princi, poglavarji očetov Izraelovih otrok
The family leaders of the clan of Gilead of the tribe of Manasseh went to Moses/me and the other family leaders of the Israeli people.
2 in rekli: » Gospod je zapovedal mojemu gospodu, naj Izraelovim otrokom da deželo za dediščino po žrebu in mojemu gospodu je bilo zapovedano od Gospoda, naj da dediščino našega brata Celofháda njegovim hčeram.
They said to Moses/me, “Yahweh commanded you, our leader, to apportion the land to the Israeli tribes by throwing (lots/stones that have been marked) to decide [which group would get which area]. Yahweh also commanded you to give the land that belonged to our fellow Israeli Zelophehad to his daughters.
3 Če bodo poročene h kateremukoli izmed sinov iz drugih rodov Izraelovih otrok, potem bo njihova dediščina vzeta od dediščine naših očetov in predana bo v dediščino rodu, kamor so sprejete. Tako bo to vzeto od žreba naše dediščine.
But if his daughters marry men from the other Israeli tribes, that land will no longer belong to our tribe. People of other tribes will get it. So some of our land will no longer belong to us.
4 Ko bo jubilej Izraelovih otrok, potem bo njihova dediščina položena v dediščino rodu kamor so sprejete. Tako bo njihova dediščina odvzeta od dediščine rodu naših očetov.«
When the Year of Celebration comes, [when all the land that has been bought by someone is returned to its original owners], the land that belonged to Zelophehad will belong to the tribes of the men that his daughters marry. So some of our land, the land that we received from our fathers, will be taken from us, [and we will never own it again].”
5 Mojzes je Izraelovim otrokom zapovedal glede na Gospodovo besedo, rekoč: »Rod Jožefovih sinov je dobro rekel.
Yahweh told Moses/me what to reply to them, so Moses/I said this to them: “These men from the tribe of Manasseh are right.
6 ›To je stvar, ki jo je Gospod zapovedal glede Celofhádovih hčera, rekoč: ›Naj se poroče, s komer mislijo, da je najbolje, samo k družini rodu njihovega očeta se bodo poročile.
This is what Yahweh is saying to the daughters of Zelophehad: ‘Each of you may marry anyone you want to, but you must marry only someone from your own tribe.’
7 Tako dediščina Izraelovih otrok ne bo prešla od roda k rodu, kajti vsak izmed Izraelovih otrok se bo držal k dediščini rodu svojih očetov.
In that way, the land that belongs to Israelis will not be passed from one tribe to another tribe. Each Israeli will keep the land in the tribe that belonged to his ancestors.
8 Vsaka hči, ki ima v lasti dediščino v kateremkoli rodu Izraelovih otrok, bo žena enemu iz družine rodu njenega očeta, da bodo Izraelovi otroci lahko uživali vsak človek dediščino svojih očetov.
A woman who inherits her father’s land may get married, but she must marry someone from her own tribe. In that way, every Israeli will keep the land that belonged to his ancestors.
9 Niti dediščina ne bo prešla od enega rodu k drugemu rodu, temveč bo vsak izmed rodov Izraelovih otrok sebe držal k svoji lastni dediščini.‹«
The land must not be passed from one tribe to another tribe. Each Israeli tribe must keep the land that it received from its ancestors.”
10 Celo kakor je Gospod zapovedal Mojzesu, tako so Celofhádove hčere storile,
Zelophehad’s daughters obeyed what Yahweh told Moses/me.
11 kajti Mahla, Tirca, Hogla, Milka in Noa, Celofhádove hčere, so se poročile k sinovom bratov njihovega očeta
The five daughters—Mahlah, Tirzah, Hoglah, Milcah and Noah—married their cousins, their father’s relatives.
12 in poročene so bile v družine sinov Manáseja, Jožefovega sina in njihova dediščina je ostala v rodu družine njihovega očeta.
The men whom they married were from the tribe of Manasseh, so their land continued to belong to their father’s family and tribe.
13 To so zapovedi in sodbe, ki jih je Gospod po Mojzesovi roki zapovedal Izraelovim otrokom na moábskih ravninah pri Jordanu, blizu Jerihe.
Those were the commands [DOU] that Yahweh gave to Moses/me to tell to the Israelis, while they/we were on the plains of the Moab region, close to the Jordan River, across from Jericho.
