1 Za Abimélehom je vstal Tolá, sin Puvája, sinú Dodója, mož iz Isahárja, da brani Izrael. Prebival je v Šamíru, na gori Efrájim.
And after Abimelech there arose to save Israel Tola the son of Puah, the son of Dodo, a man of Issachar; and he dwelt in Shamir in the hill country of Ephraim.
2 Izraelu je sodil triindvajset let in umrl ter bil pokopan v Šamíru.
And he judged Israel twenty and three years, and died, and was buried in Shamir.
3 Za njim je vstal Gileádec Jaír in Izraelu sodil dvaindvajset let.
And after him arose Jair, the Gileadite; and he judged Israel twenty and two years.
4 Imel je trideset sinov, ki so jahali na tridesetih osličjih žrebetih in imeli so trideset mest, ki se imenujejo Havot Jaír do tega dne, ki so v deželi Gileád.
And he had thirty sons that rode on thirty ass colts, and they had thirty cities, which are called Havvoth-jair unto this day, which are in the land of Gilead.
5 Jaír je umrl in bil pokopan v Kamónu.
And Jair died, and was buried in Kamon.
6 Izraelovi otroci pa so v Gospodovih očeh ponovno počeli zlo in služili Báalom, Astarti, bogovom Sirije, bogovom Sidóna, bogovom Moába, bogovom Amónovih otrok in bogovom Filistejcev in zapustili so Gospoda in mu niso služili.
And the children of Israel again did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD, and served the Baalim, and the Ashtaroth, and the gods of Syria, and the gods of Zidon, and the gods of Moab, and the gods of the children of Ammon, and the gods of the Philistines; and they forsook the LORD, and served him not.
7 Gospodova jeza je bila vroča zoper Izrael in prodal jih je v roke Filistejcev in v roke Amónovih otrok.
And the anger of the LORD was kindled against Israel, and he sold them into the hand of the Philistines, and into the hand of the children of Ammon.
8 Tisto leto so tlačili in zatirali Izraelove otroke; osemnajst let, vse Izraelove otroke, ki so bili na drugi strani Jordana, v deželi Amoréjcev, ki je v Gileádu.
And they vexed and oppressed the children of Israel that year: eighteen years [oppressed they] all the children of Israel that were beyond Jordan in the land of the Amorites, which is in Gilead.
9 Poleg tega so Amónovi otroci prečkali Jordan, da se borijo tudi zoper Juda, zoper Benjamina in zoper Efrájimovo hišo, tako, da je bil Izrael silno stiskan.
And the children of Ammon passed over Jordan to fight also against Judah, and against Benjamin, and against the house of Ephraim; so that Israel was sore distressed.
10 Izraelovi otroci so vpili h Gospodu, rekoč: »Grešili smo zoper tebe, zato ker smo zapustili svojega Boga in služili tudi Báalom.«
And the children of Israel cried unto the LORD, saying, We have sinned against thee, even because we have forsaken our God, and have served the Baalim.
11 Gospod je Izraelovim otrokom rekel: » Mar vas nisem osvobodil pred Egipčani in pred Amoréjci, pred Amónovimi otroki in pred Filistejci?
And the LORD said unto the children of Israel, [Did] not [I save you] from the Egyptians, and from the Amorites, from the children of Ammon, and from the Philistines?
12 Tudi Sidónci, Amalečani in Maonci so vas zatirali in klicali ste k meni in osvobodil sem vas iz njihove roke.
The Zidonians also, and the Amalekites, and the Maonites, did oppress you; and ye cried unto me, and I saved you out of their hand.
13 Vendar ste me zapustili in služili drugim bogovom, zato vas ne bom več osvobajal.
Yet ye have forsaken me, and served other gods: wherefore I will save you no more.
14 Pojdite in jokajte k bogovom, ki ste jih izbrali. Naj vas oni osvobodijo v času vaše stiske.«
Go and cry unto the gods which ye have chosen; let them save you in the time of your distress.
15 Izraelovi otroci so rekli Gospodu: »Grešili smo. Stôri nam, karkoli se ti zdi dobro. Prosimo te, samo osvobodi nas ta dan.«
And the children of Israel said unto the LORD, We have sinned: do thou unto us whatsoever seemeth good unto thee; only deliver us, we pray thee, this day.
16 Izmed sebe so odstranili tuje bogove in služili Gospodu. Njegova duša je bila užaloščena zaradi Izraelove bede.
And they put away the strange gods from among them, and served the LORD: and his soul was grieved for the misery of Israel.
17 Potem so bili Amónovi otroci zbrani skupaj in se utaborili v Gileádu. Izraelovi otroci pa so se zbrali skupaj in se utaborili v Micpi.
Then the children of Ammon were gathered together, and encamped in Gilead. And the children of Israel assembled themselves together, and encamped in Mizpah.
18 Ljudstvo in gileádski princi so drug drugemu rekli: »Kateri mož je ta, ki se bo začel boriti zoper Amónove otroke? Ta bo poglavar nad vsemi prebivalci Gileáda.«
And the people, the princes of Gilead, said one to another, What man is he that will begin to fight against the children of Ammon? he shall be head over all the inhabitants of Gilead.
