1 »Jaz sem resnična vinska trta in moj Oče je poljedelec.
I am the true vyne and my father ys an husbande man.
2 Vsako mladiko na meni, ki ne prinaša sadu, on odstranja in vsako vejo, ki prinaša sad, očiščuje, da bo lahko obrodila več sadu.
Every braunche that beareth not frute in me he will take awaye. And every braunche that beareth frute will he pourge yt it maye bringe moare frute.
3 Torej vi ste čisti po besedi, ki sem vam jo govoril.
Now are ye cleane thorow ye wordes which I have spoke vnto you.
4 Ostanite v meni in jaz v vas. Kakor mladika sama od sebe ne more obroditi sadu, razen če ne ostane na vinski trti, nič bolj ne morete vi, razen če ne ostanete v meni.
Byde in me and let me byde in you. As ye braunche canot beare frute of it sylfe excepte it byde in the vyne: no more can ye excepte ye abyde in me.
5 Jaz sem trta, vi ste mladike. Kdor ostaja v meni in jaz v njem, ta isti prinaša obilo sadu, kajti brez mene ne morete storiti ničesar.
I am the vyne and ye are the braunches. He that abydeth in me and I in him the same bringeth forth moche frute. For with out me can ye do nothinge.
6 Če človek ne ostane v meni, je odvržen kakor mladika in se posuši; in ljudje jih zberejo ter jih vržejo v ogenj in so sežgane.
Yf a man byde not in me he ys cast forthe as a braunche and is wyddered: and men gadder it and cast it into the fyre and it burneth.
7 Če ostanete v meni in moje besede ostanejo v vas, boste prosili, kar hočete in se vam bo to zgodilo.
Yf ye byde in me and my wordes also byde in you: axe what ye will and it shalbe done to you.
8 V tem je moj Oče proslavljen, da obrodite obilo sadu; tako boste postali moji učenci.
Heare in is my father glorified that ye beare moche frute and be made my disciples.
9 Kakor je Oče mene ljubil, tako sem jaz vas ljubil. Ostanite v moji ljubezni.
As the father hath loved me eve so have I leved you. Continue in my love.
10 Če se držite mojih zapovedi, boste ostali v moji ljubezni; kakor sem se jaz držal Očetovih zapovedi in ostajam v njegovi ljubezni.
Yf ye shall kepe my comaudemetes ye shall byde in my love eve as I have kept my fathers comaundementes and byde in his love.
11 Te besede sem vam govoril, da moja radost lahko ostane v vas in da bo vaša radost lahko popolna.
These thinges have I spoken vnto you yt my ioye myght remayne in you and that youre ioye might be full.
12 To je moja zapoved: ›Da ljubite drug drugega, kakor sem vas jaz ljubil.‹
This is my commaundement that ye love togedder as I have loved you.
13 Nihče nima večje ljubezni, kakor je ta, da človek svoje življenje žrtvuje za svoje prijatelje.
Gretter love then this hath no man then that a man bestowe his lyfe for his frendes.
14 Vi ste moji prijatelji, če storite, karkoli vam zapovem.
Ye are my fredes yf ye do whatsoever I commaunde you.
15 Odslej vas ne imenujem služabnike, kajti služabnik ne ve, kaj dela njegov gospodar; toda vas sem imenoval prijatelje, kajti dal sem vam spoznati vse stvari, ki sem jih slišal od svojega Očeta.
Hence forth call I you not servauntes: for the servaunt knoweth not what his Lorde doeth. But you have I called frendes: for all thinges that I have hearde of my father I have opened to you.
16 Niste vi mene izbrali, ampak sem jaz izbral vas in vam odredil, da bi šli in obrodili sad in da bi vaš sad ostal, da karkoli boste zahtevali od mojega Očeta v mojem imenu, vam bo on to lahko dal.
Ye have not chosen me but I have chosen you and ordeyned you that ye go and bringe forthe frute and that youre frute remayne that whatsoever ye shall axe of the father in my name he shulde geve it you.
17 Te besede vam zapovedujem, da ljubite drug drugega.
This comaunde I you that ye love to gedder.
18 Če vas svet sovraži, vedite, da je mene sovražil, preden je sovražil vas.
Yf ye worlde hate you ye knowe that he hated me before he hated you.
19 Če bi bili od sveta, bi svet svoje imel rad, toda ker niste od sveta, temveč sem vas izbral od sveta, vas torej svet sovraži.
Yf ye were of the worlde ye worlde wolde love his awne. How be it because ye are not of ye worlde but I have chosen you out of the worlde therfore hateth you the worlde.
20 Spomnite se besede, ki sem vam jo rekel: ›Služabnik ni večji kot njegov gospodar.‹ Če so preganjali mene, bodo prav tako preganjali vas; če so se držali mojih izjav, se bodo držali tudi vaših.
Remember the sayinge that I sayde vnto you: the servaute is not greater then his lorde. Yf they have persecuted me so will they persecute you Yf they have kept my sayinge so will they kepe youres.
21 Toda vse te stvari vam bodo storili zaradi mojega imena, ker ne poznajo tistega, ki me je poslal.
But all these thinges will they do vnto you for my names sake because they have not knowen him that sent me.
22 Če ne bi prišel in jim ne bi govoril, ne bi imeli greha, toda sedaj za svoj greh nimajo nobene pretveze.
If I had not come and spoken vnto them they shulde not have had synne: but now have they nothinge to cloke their synne with all.
23 Kdor sovraži mene, sovraži tudi mojega Očeta.
He that hateth me hateth my father.
24 Če med njimi ne bi storil del, ki jih noben drug človek ni storil, ne bi imeli greha, toda sedaj so tako videli kakor sovražili, tako mene kakor mojega Očeta.
If I had not done workes amoge the which none other ma dyd they had not had synne. But now have they sene and yet have hated bothe me and my father:
25 Toda to se dogaja, da se bo lahko izpolnila beseda, ki je zapisana v njihovi postavi: ›Sovražili so me brez razloga.‹
eve that the sayinge myght be fulfilled that is written in theyr lawe: they hated me wtout a cause.
26 Toda ko pride Tolažnik, ki ga bom poslal k vam od Očeta, celó Duh resnice, ki izvira od Očeta, bo on pričeval o meni;
But when the comforter is come whom I will sende vnto you fro the father which is the sprete of truthe which proceadeth of the father he shall testifie of me.
27 in tudi vi boste pričevali, ker ste bili od začetka z menoj.«
And ye shall beare witnes also because ye have bene with me from the begynninge.
