Job 35
1 Elihú je poleg tega spregovoril in rekel:
Moreover Elihu, responded and said: —
2 »Mar misliš, da je to pravilno, da govoriš: ›Moja pravičnost je večja kakor Božja?‹
This, dost thou think to be right? Thou hast said—My righteousness is more than GOD’S.
3 Kajti praviš: ›Kakšna prednost ti bo to?‹ in ›Kakšno korist bom imel, če bom očiščen pred svojim grehom?‹
For thou dost say, How can one profit by thee? How can I benefit, more than by my sin?
4 Odgovoril ti bom in tvojim družabnikom s teboj.
I, will answer thee plainly, and thy friends with thee.
5 Poglej v nebo in glej. Ogleduj oblake, ki so višje kakor ti.
Look at the heavens and see, —and survey the skies—they are higher than thou.
6 Če grešiš, kaj delaš zoper njega? Ali če so tvoji prestopki pomnoženi, kaj mu delaš?
If thou sinnest, what canst thou work against him? Or, if thy transgressions be multiplied, what canst thou do unto him?
7 Če si pravičen, kaj mu daješ? Ali kaj on prejema iz tvoje roke?
If thou art righteous, what canst thou give unto him? Or what, at thy hand, can he accept?
8 Tvoja zlobnost lahko prizadene človeka, kakor si ti in tvoja pravičnost lahko koristi človeškemu sinu.
Unto a man like thyself, might thy lawlessness [reach], and, unto a son of the earth-born, thy righteousness.
9 Zaradi množice zatiranj povzročajo zatiranim, da kričijo. Vpijejo zaradi lakta mogočnega.
By reason of the multitude of oppressions, [men] make outcry, They cry for help, by reason of the arm of the mighty;
10 Toda nihče ne pravi: ›Kje je Bog, moj stvarnik, ki daje pesmi ponoči,
But none saith—Where is GOD my maker, Who giveth songs in the night;
11 ki nas uči več kakor zemeljske živali in nas dela modrejše kakor perjad neba?‹
Who teacheth us more than the beasts of the earth, and, beyond the bird of the heavens, giveth us wisdom?
12 Tam vpijejo, toda nihče ne daje odgovora zaradi ponosa zlobnežev.
There, [men] make outcry, and he answereth not, because of the arrogance of evil-doers.
13 Bog zagotovo ne bo slišal prazne reči niti se Vsemogočni na to ne bo oziral.
Howbeit, vanity, will GOD not hear, Yea, the Almighty, will not regard it.
14 Čeprav praviš, da ga ne boš videl, je vendar sodba pred njim, zato zaupaj vanj.
How much less when thou sayest thou wilt not regard him! The cause, is before him, and thou must wait for him.
15 Toda sedaj, ker to ni tako, je obiskal v svoji jezi, vendar on tega v veliki skrajnosti ne pozna.
But, now, because it is not so, [thou sayest] —His anger hath punished, and yet hath he not at all known of transgression;
16 Job zato svoja usta zaman odpira. Besede množi brez spoznanja.«
Thus, Job, vainly openeth his mouth, Without knowledge, he multiplieth words.
