< Job 29 >
1 Poleg tega je Job nadaljeval svojo prispodobo in rekel:
Job again took up his parable, and said,
"Oh that I were as in the months of old, as in the days when God watched over me;
3 ko je njegova sveča svetila nad mojo glavo in ko sem z njegovo svetlobo hodil skozi temo,
when his lamp shone on my head, and by his light I walked through darkness,
as I was in the ripeness of my days, when the friendship of God was in my tent,
5 ko je bil Vsemogočni še z menoj, ko so bili moji otroci okoli mene,
when Shaddai was yet with me, and my children were around me,
6 ko sem svoje korake umival z maslom in mi je skala izlivala reke olja,
when my steps were washed with butter, and the rock poured out streams of oil for me,
when I went forth to the city gate, when I prepared my seat in the street.
8 Mladeniči so me videli in se skrili in ostareli so se vzdignili in stali.
The young men saw me and hid themselves. The aged rose up and stood.
9 Princi so zadržali govorjenje in na svoja usta položili svojo roko.
The princes refrained from talking, and laid their hand on their mouth.
10 Plemiči so molčali in njihov jezik se je prilepil na nebo njihovih ust.
The voice of the nobles was hushed, and their tongue stuck to the roof of their mouth.
11 Ko me je uho zaslišalo, potem me je blagoslovilo in ko me je oko zagledalo, mi je dalo pričevanje,
For when the ear heard me, then it blessed me; and when the eye saw me, it commended me:
12 ker sem osvobodil reveža, ki je jokal in osirotelega in tistega, ki ni imel nikogar, da mu pomaga.
Because I delivered the poor who cried, and the fatherless also, who had none to help him,
the blessing of him who was ready to perish came on me, and I caused the widow's heart to sing for joy.
14 Nadel sem si pravičnost in ta me je oblekla.
I put on righteousness, and it clothed me. My justice was as a robe and a diadem.
15 Bil sem oči slepemu in stopala hromemu.
I was eyes to the blind, and feet to the lame.
I was a father to the needy. The cause of him who I did not know, I searched out.
17 Zlomil sem čeljusti zlobnemu in izpulil plen iz njegovih zob.
I broke the jaws of the unrighteous, and plucked the prey out of his teeth.
18 Potem sem rekel: ›Umrl bom v svojem gnezdu in svoje dneve bom pomnožil kakor pesek.‹
Then I said, 'I shall die in my own house, I shall number my days as the sand.
My root is spread out to the waters. The dew lies all night on my branch.
My glory is fresh in me. My bow is renewed in my hand.'
21 Možje so mi prisluhnili, čakali in molčali ob mojem nasvetu.
"Men listened to me, waited, and kept silence for my counsel.
22 Po mojih besedah niso ponovno spregovorili in moj govor je rosil nanje.
After my words they did not speak again. My speech fell on them.
23 Name so čakali kakor na dež in svoja usta so široko odprli kakor za pozni dež.
They waited for me as for the rain. Their mouths drank as with the spring rain.
I smiled on them when they had no confidence. They did not reject the light of my face.
I chose out their way, and sat as chief. I lived as a king in the army, as one who comforts the mourners.
