Job 12
1 Job je odgovoril in rekel:
Then Job answered and said:
2 »Brez dvoma ste vi samo ljudje in modrost bo umrla z vami.
No doubt ye are the whole people! And wisdom will die with you!
3 Toda jaz imam razumevanje prav tako kakor vi. Nisem slabši od vas. Da, kdo ne pozna takšnih stvari, kakor so te?
But I have understanding as well as you; I am not inferior to you: Yea, who knoweth not such things as these?
4 Jaz sem kakor nekdo, zasmehovan od svojega bližnjega, ki kliče k Bogu in ta mu odgovarja. Pravičen človek je zasmehovan do norčevanja.
I am become a laughing-stock to my friend, —I who call upon God, that he would answer me! The innocent and upright man is held in derision.
5 Kdor je pripravljen, da zdrsne s svojimi stopali, je kakor svetilka, prezirana v mislih tistega, ki je ohol.
To calamity belongeth contempt in the mind of one at ease; It is ready for them that slip with the feet.
6 Šotori roparjev uspevajo in tisti, ki izzivajo Boga, so varni; v katerih roko Bog obilno prinaša.
The tents of robbers are in prosperity, And they who provoke God are secure, Who carry their God in their hand.
7 Toda vprašaj sedaj živali in te bodo poučile in perjad neba in ti bodo povedale.
For ask now the beasts, and they will teach thee; Or the fowls of the air, and they will tell thee;
8 Ali govori zemlji in te bo poučila in morske ribe ti bodo oznanile.
Or speak to the earth, and it will instruct thee; And the fishes of the sea will declare unto thee.
9 Kdo v vsem tem ne spoznava, da je to naredila Gospodova roka?
Who among all these doth not know That the hand of Jehovah doeth these things?
10 V čigar roki je duša vsake žive stvari in dih vsega človeštva.
In whose hand is the soul of every living thing, And the breath of all mankind.
11 Mar uho ne preizkuša besed? In usta ne okusijo njegove hrane?
Doth not the ear prove words, As the mouth tasteth meat?
12 S starcem je modrost, in v dolžini dni razumnost.
With the aged is wisdom, And with length of days is understanding.
13 Z njim je modrost in moč, on ima nasvet in razumevanje.
With Him are wisdom and strength; With Him counsel and understanding.
14 Glej, on poruši in to ne more biti ponovno zgrajeno. On zapre človeka in ne more biti odpiranja.
Lo! he pulleth down, and it shall not be rebuilt; He bindeth a man, and he shall not be set loose.
15 Glej, on zadržuje vode in se posušijo. On jih prav tako pošilja ven in razrijejo zemljo.
Lo! he withholdeth the waters, and they are dried up; He sendeth them forth, and they lay waste the earth.
16 Z njim je moč in modrost; prevarani in slepar sta njegova.
With him are strength and wisdom; The deceived and the deceiver are his.
17 Svetovalce odvede oplenjene in sodnike dela bedake.
He leadeth counsellors away captive, And judges he maketh fools.
18 Kraljem razvezuje vez in njihova ledja opasuje s pasom.
He looseth the authority of kings, And bindeth their loins with a cord.
19 Prince odvede oplenjene in podira močne.
He leadeth priests away captive, And overthroweth the mighty.
20 Odstranja govor zanesljivih in odvzema razumnost ostarelih.
He removeth speech from the trusty, And taketh away judgment from the elders.
21 Na prince izliva zaničevanje in slabi moč močnih.
He poureth contempt upon princes, And looseth the girdle of the mighty.
22 Odkriva globoke stvari teme in na svetlobo prinaša smrtno senco.
He revealeth deep things out of darkness, And bringeth the shadow of death to light.
23 Povečuje narode in jih uničuje. Razširja narode in jih ponovno vodi v suženjstvo.
He exalteth nations, and destroyeth them; He enlargeth nations, and leadeth them captive.
24 Odvzema srce vodjem ljudstva zemlje in jim povzroča, da tavajo v divjini, kjer ni poti.
He taketh away the understanding of the great men of the land, And causeth them to wander in a wilderness, where is no path;
25 Tipajo v temi brez svetlobe in on jim povzroča, da se opotekajo kakor pijan človek.
They grope in the dark without light; He maketh them stagger like a drunken man.
