Jakob 3
1 Moji bratje, ne bodite mnogi učitelji, ker veste, da bomo prejeli večjo obsodbo.
MY brethren, be not many masters, knowing that we shall receive the greater condemnation.
2 Kajti v mnogih stvareh vsi grešimo. Če katerikoli človek ne greši z besedo, je isti popoln mož in tudi zmožen obrzdati celotno telo.
For in many things we offend all. If any man offend not in word, the same is a perfect man, and able also to bridle the whole body.
3 Glejte, konjem v usta dajemo žvale, da nas lahko ubogajo in obračamo njihovo celotno telo.
Behold, we put bits in the horses’ mouths, that they may obey us; and we turn about their whole body.
4 Glejte tudi ladje, katere, čeprav so tako velike in jih ženejo kruti vetrovi, se vendar obračajo z zelo majhnim krmilom, kamorkoli krmar hoče.
Behold also the ships, which though they be so great, and are driven of fierce winds, yet are they turned about with a very small helm, whithersoever the governor listeth.
5 Prav tako je jezik majhen ud, pa se baha [z] velikimi stvarmi. Glejte, kako veliko stvar prižge majhen ogenj!
Even so the tongue is a little member, and boasteth great things. Behold, how great a matter a little fire kindleth!
6 In jezik je ogenj, svet krivičnosti. Tako je jezik med našimi udi, da omadežuje celotno telo in razvnema zakon narave; in ta je vžgan iz pekla. (Geenna g1067)
And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity: so is the tongue among our members, that it defileth the whole body, and setteth on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire of hell. (Geenna g1067)
7 Kajti vsaka vrsta, od živali in od ptic in od kač in od stvari v morju, je ukrotljiva in je bila ukročena od človeštva,
For every kind of beasts, and of birds, and of serpents, and of things in the sea, is tamed, and hath been tamed of mankind:
8 toda jezika ne more ukrotiti noben človek; je neukrotljivo zlo, polno smrtonosnega strupa.
But the tongue can no man tame; it is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison.
9 Z njim blagoslavljamo Boga, celó Očeta; in z njim preklinjamo ljudi, ki so ustvarjeni po Božji podobnosti.
Therewith bless we God, even the Father; and therewith curse we men, which are made after the similitude of God.
10 Iz istih ust izvirata blagoslavljanje in preklinjanje. Moji bratje, te stvari ne smejo biti takšne.
Out of the same mouth proceedeth blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not so to be.
11 Mar daje studenec na istem mestu sladko in grenko vodo?
Doth a fountain send forth at the same place sweet water and bitter?
12 Ali lahko figovo drevo, moji bratje, rodi olive? Ali trta fige? Tako noben studenec ne more dajati obeh, slane in sladke vode.
Can the fig tree, my brethren, bear olive berries? either a vine, figs? so can no fountain both yield salt water and fresh.
13 Kdo je med vami moder človek in opremljen s spoznanjem? Naj s krotkostjo modrosti kaže dobro vedênje svojih del.
Who is a wise man and endued with knowledge among you? let him shew out of a good conversation his works with meekness of wisdom.
14 Toda če imate v svojih srcih grenko zavist in prepir, se ne ponašajte in ne lažite zoper resnico.
But if ye have bitter envying and strife in your hearts, glory not, and lie not against the truth.
15 Ta modrost se ne spušča od zgoraj, temveč je zemeljska, čutna, vražja.
This wisdom descendeth not from above, but is earthly, sensual, devilish.
16 Kajti kjer sta zavist in prepir, tam je zmešnjava in vsako hudobno delo.
For where envying and strife is, there is confusion and every evil work.
17 Toda modrost, ki je od zgoraj, je najprej čista, potem mirna, nežna in lahka za ravnanje, polna usmiljenja in dobrih sadov, brez pristranskosti in brez hinavščine.
But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be intreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy.
18 In sad pravičnosti sejejo v miru tisti, ki delajo mir.
And the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace of them that make peace.
