1 Stojte torej trdno v svobodi, s katero nas je Kristus osvobodil in ne bodite ponovno vpleteni z jarmom sužnosti.
Stand therefore in that liberty with which the Meshiha hath freed you, and be not enthralled with the yoke of bondage.
2 Glejte, jaz, Pavel, vam povem, da če boste obrezani, vam Kristus ne bo nič koristil.
Behold, I, Paulos, tell you, that if you be circumcised, the Meshiha profiteth you nothing.
3 Kajti ponovno pričujem vsakemu človeku, ki je obrezan, da je dolžnik izpolnjevanja celotne postave.
But I attest again to every man who is circumcised, that he is obligated to fulfil the whole law.
4 Katerikoli izmed vas ste opravičeni po postavi, vam je Kristus postal nekoristen; odpadli ste od milosti.
You have ceased from the Meshiha who are justified by the law, and from grace you have fallen.
5 Kajti mi po Duhu čakamo na upanje pravičnosti iz vere.
But we through the Spirit, who is from faith, expect the hope of righteousness.
6 Kajti v Jezusu Kristusu niti obreza ne koristi nič niti neobreza, temveč vera, ki deluje po ljubezni.
For, in the Meshiha Jeshu, circumcision is not any thing, nor uncircumcision, but faith which is made perfect by love.
7 Dobro ste tekli; kdo vas je oviral, da ne bi ubogali resnice?
Well did you run; who hath impeded you, that to the truth you should not be in obedience?
8 To prepričevanje ne prihaja od tistega, ki vas kliče.
Your persuasion is not from him who called you.
9 Malo kvasa prekvasi celotno gmoto.
A little leaven the whole mass leaveneth.
10 Po Gospodu imam zaupanje v vas, da ne boste drugače misleči; toda kdor vas nadleguje, bo nosil svojo obsodbo, kdorkoli bo.
I am confident of you in our Lord, that no other thing you will think; and he who disturbeth you shall bear judgment, whoever he is.
11 In jaz, bratje, če vendarle oznanjam obrezo, zakaj še vedno trpim preganjanje? Potem je pohujšanje križa prenehalo.
But I, my brethren, if yet I have preached for circumcision, why have I been persecuted? Hath the scandal of the cross ceased?
12 Kateri pa vas begajo, želim, da bi bili celó odrezani.
But I would that they who disturb you were even cut off.
13 Kajti bratje, poklicani ste bili v svobodo; samo svobode ne uporabite za priložnost mesu, temveč v ljubezni služite drug drugemu.
But you have been called unto liberty, my brethren: only let not your liberty be for an occasion of the flesh; but in love be subjected one to another.
14 Kajti vsa postava je izpolnjena v eni besedi, celó v tej: ›Svojega bližnjega boš ljubil kakor samega sebe.‹
For all the law in one word is fulfilled, in this: Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.
15 Toda če drug drugega grizete in hrustate, pazite, da ne boste požrti eden od drugega.
But if you bite and devour one another, beware lest one by another you be consumed.
16 Pravim torej to: »Hodite v Duhu in ne boste uresničili poželenja mesa.«
But I say to you, Walk in the Spirit, and the desires of the flesh you will not work.
17 Kajti meso hrepeni zoper Duha, Duh pa zoper meso; in ta dva sta drug drugemu nasprotna, tako da ne morete delati stvari, ki bi jih želeli.
For the flesh desireth that which is repugnant to the Spirit, and the Spirit desireth that which is repugnant to the flesh; and the two are adverse one to the other, that not any thing that you will you may do.
18 Toda če ste vodeni od Duha, niste pod postavo.
But if by the Spirit you are led, you are not under the law.
19 Torej dela mesa so očitna, ki so ta: zakonolomstvo, prešuštvovanje, nečistost, pohotnost,
For the works of the flesh are known, which are (these), fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness,
20 malikovanje, čaranje, sovraštvo, prerekanje, tekmovanja, bes, prepir, upori, krivoverstva,
the worship of idols, sorcery, enmity, contention, ambition, wrath, calumny, divisions, rendings,
21 zavisti, umori, pijanost, veseljačenja in podobno; o katerih vam vnaprej povem, kakor sem vam tudi povedal v preteklem času, da tisti, ki počenjajo takšne stvari, ne bodo podedovali Božjega kraljestva.
envy, murder, drunkenness, revelling, and all that are like these; and they who do them, as I told you before, so now I tell you, the kingdom of Aloha do not inherit.
22 Toda sad Duha je ljubezen, radost, mir, potrpežljivost, blagost, dobrota, vera,
But the fruits of the Spirit are, love, joy, peace, prolonging of the spirit, benignity, goodness, fidelity,
23 krotkost, zmernost; zoper te ni postave.
meekness, patience; against these the law is not set.
24 In tisti, ki so Kristusovi, so meso križali s strastmi in poželenji.
But they who are of the Meshiha have crucified their flesh, with all its passions and its lusts:
25 Če živimo po Duhu, tudi hodimo v Duhu.
live we therefore in the Spirit,
26 Ne bodimo željni prazne slave z izzivanjem drug drugega in zavidanjem drug drugemu.
and let us not be vain-glorious, contemning one another, envying one another.
