Ezekiel 31
1 In pripetilo se je v enajstem letu, v tretjem mesecu, na prvi dan meseca, da je prišla k meni Gospodova beseda, rekoč:
And it came to pass in the eleventh year, in the third month, on the first of the month, that the word of Yahweh came unto me, saying:
2 »Človeški sin, spregovori faraonu, egiptovskemu kralju in njegovi množici: ›Komu si podoben v svoji veličini?
Son of man Say unto Pharaoh king of Egypt and unto his multitude, — Whom art thou like in thy greatness?
3 Glej, Asirec je bil cedra na Libanonu, z lepimi mladikami in s senčnato kopreno in visoke rasti; in njegov vrh je bil med debelimi vejami.
Lo! Assyria, was a cedar in Lebanon, Beautiful in bough and Dense in foliage and Lofty in stature, — and Among the clouds, came to be his top:
4 Vode so ga naredile velikega, globina ga je s svojimi rekami, ki tečejo naokoli njegovih rastlin, postavila gor na višavo in pošiljala ven svoje majhne reke do vseh poljskih dreves.
The waters made him great, the roaring deep, made him high—with its currents going round about the place where it was planted, Its channels also, it sent forth unto all the trees of the field.
5 Zatorej je bila njegova višina povišana nad vsa poljska drevesa in njegove veje so bile pomnožene in njegove mladike so postale dolge zaradi obilice voda, ko je poganjal.
For this cause higher, was his stature than any of the trees of the field, -And multiplied were his boughs And lengthened were his branches, By reason of the mighty waters when he shot forth shoots.
6 Vsa perjad neba je naredila svoja gnezda v njegovih vejah in pod njegovimi mladikami so vse živali polja kotile svoje mlade in pod njegovo senco so prebivali vsi veliki narodi.
Among his branches, all the birds of the heavens, made their nests, And under his boughs, all the wild beasts of the field, brought forth, — And, in his shade, dwelt all the mighty nations.
7 Tako je bil lep v svoji veličini, v dolžini svojih mladik, kajti njegova korenina je bila ob velikih vodah.
Thus became he beautiful in his greatness, In the length of his waving branches, Because his root had gone towards mighty waters.
8 Cedre v Božjem vrtu ga niso mogle skriti. Ciprese niso bile podobne njegovim vejam in kostanjeva drevesa niso bila podobna njegovim mladikam; niti katerokoli drevo v Božjem vrtu ni bilo podobno njemu v njegovi lepoti.
Cedars hid him not. in the garden of God, Fir-trees were not like unto his boughs, Nor plane-trees, like his branches, —no, tree in the garden of God, was like unto him in his beauty.
9 Naredil sem ga lepega z množico njegovih mladik, tako da so mu vsa edenska drevesa, ki so bila v Božjem vrtu, zavidala.‹
Beautiful, I made him in the abundance of his waving branches, - Therefore was he envied by all the trees of Eden, which were in the garden of God.
10 Zato tako govori Gospod Bog: ›Ker si se povzdigoval na višino in je svoj vrh poganjal med debelimi vejami in je njegovo srce povzdignjeno na njegovo višino;
Therefore Thus, saith My Lord Yahweh, Because thou hast become lofty in stature, And he hath stretched his top among the clouds, And his heart is exalted in his loftiness.
11 zato sem ga izročil v roko mogočnega izmed poganov; zagotovo bo obračunal z njim. Ven sem ga izgnal zaradi njegove zlobnosti.
Let me then deliver him into the hand of the chief of the nations, He shall effectually deal with him! According to his lawlessness, have I driven him out:
12 In tujci, strašni izmed narodov, so ga odrezali in ga zapustili. Po gorah in po vseh dolinah so padle njegove mladike in njegove veje so zlomljene ob vseh rekah dežele; in vsa ljudstva zemlje so šla dol iz njegove sence in ga zapustila.
Therefore have foreigners the terrible of the nations cut him down. And abandoned him, — Upon the mountains and in all valleys, have fallen his waving branches And broken have been his boughs in all the river-beds of the land, And all the peoples of the earth have come down out of his shade. And abandoned him:
13 Na njegovem uničenju bo ostala vsa perjad neba in vse živali polja bodo na njegovih mladikah,
Upon his trunk, shall settle down all the birds of the heavens, - And among his boughs, are to be found all the wild beasts of the field: —
14 z namenom, da se nobeno izmed vseh dreves ob vodah ne bo povzdigovalo zaradi svoje višine niti svojega vrha poganjalo med debele veje niti ne bodo njihova drevesa stala na njihovi višini, vsa, ki pijejo vodo, kajti vsa so izročena smrti, k spodnjim delom zemlje, v sredo človeških otrok, s tistimi, ki gredo dol k jami.‹
To the end that none of the trees of the waters— May exalt themselves in their stature or stretch their top among the clouds, Nor their mighty ones take their stand in their height- any that drink of the waters, — Because they all, are delivered to death Unto the earth below. In the midst of the sons of Adam. Amongst them who descend into the pit.
15 Tako govori Gospod Bog: ›Na dan, ko je šel dol do groba, sem povzročil žalovanje. Zanj sem pokril globino in omejil njegove tokove in velike vode so bile ustavljene. Libanonu sem storil, da je žaloval za njim in vsa poljska drevesa so medlela zaradi njega. (Sheol h7585)
Thus, saith My Lord Yahweh, In the day when he descended into hades, I caused a mourning. I covered over him the roaring deep, And restrained the currents thereof And stayed were the mighty waters, So caused I gloom over him unto Lebanon, And all the trees of the field for him were covered with a shroud. (Sheol h7585)
16 Narodom sem storil, da se tresejo ob zvoku njegovega padca, ko sem ga vrgel dol do pekla, s tistimi, ki se spuščajo v jamo in vsa edenska drevesa, izbrana in najboljša iz Libanona, vsa, ki pijejo vodo, bodo potolažena v spodnjih delih zemlje. (Sheol h7585)
At the sound of his fall, I made nations tremble, When I caused him to descend into hades, with them who descend into the pit, — Then were grieved in the earth below-All the trees of Eden, The choicest and best of Lebanon All who had drunk the waters. (Sheol h7585)
17 Tudi oni so z njim odšli dol v pekel, k tistim, ki so umorjeni z mečem; in tisti, ki so bili njegov laket, ki so prebivali pod njegovo senco v sredi narodov. (Sheol h7585)
Even they, with him descended into hades. Among them who were thrust through with the sword, - Even his seed who dwelt in his shade in the midst of the nations. (Sheol h7585)
18 Komu si ti tako podoben v slavi in v veličini med edenskimi drevesi? Vendar boš z edenskimi drevesi priveden dol v spodnje dele zemlje. Ležal boš v sredi neobrezancev, s tistimi, ki so umorjeni z mečem. To je faraon in vsa njegova množica, ‹ govori Gospod Bog.‹«
Unto whom couldst thou be likened thus, in glory and in greatness, among the trees of Eden? Yet shalt thou be caused to descend with the trees of Eden into the earth below In the midst of the uncircumcised, shalt thou lie down With them who were thrust through by the sword, the same, is Pharaoh and all his multitude, Declareth My Lord Yahweh.
