Efežanom 1
1 Pavel, po Božji volji apostol Jezusa Kristusa, svetim, ki so v Efezu in zvestim v Kristusu Jezusu:
PAUL, an apostle of Jesus Christ, by the will of God, to the saints which are at Ephesus, and to the faithful in Christ Jesus:
2 ›Milost bodi vam in mir od Boga, našega Očeta in od Gospoda Jezusa Kristusa.‹
grace be unto you, and peace from God our Father, and the Lord Jesus Christ.
3 Blagoslovljen bodi Bog in Oče našega Gospoda Jezusa Kristusa, ki nas je blagoslovil z vsemi duhovnimi blagoslovi v nebeških prostorih v Kristusu.
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with every spiritual blessing in heavenly things in Christ;
4 Kakor nas je pred ustanovitvijo sveta izbral v njem, da bi bili pred njim sveti in brez graje, v ljubezni,
as he hath elected us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and blameless before him in love:
5 nas je glede na dobro voljo svojega hotenja zase vnaprej določil za posvojitev otrok po Jezusu Kristusu,
having predestinated us for his adopted children by Jesus Christ unto himself, according to the good pleasure of his will,
6 v hvalo slave njegove milosti, v kateri nas je naredil sprejete v ljubljenem.
to the praise of the glory of his grace, whereby he hath made us acceptable in that beloved one;
7 V katerem imamo po njegovi krvi odkupitev, odpuščanje grehov glede na bogastva njegove milosti;
in whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace;
8 v čemer je imel do nas obilje v vsej modrosti in razumnosti,
wherein he hath abounded towards us with all wisdom and intelligence,
9 ko nam je dal spoznati skrivnost svoje volje, po svojem zadovoljstvu, ki ga je namenil v sebi;
having made known to us the mystery of his will, according to his good pleasure, which he purposed in himself;
10 da v razdeljevanju polnosti časov lahko zbere skupaj v eno vse stvari v Kristusu, tako te, ki so na nebu, kakor te, ki so na zemlji; celó v njem;
at the dispensation of the fulness of the appointed times to gather together under one head all things in Christ, whether they be things in heaven or things in earth, in him:
11 v katerem smo dosegli tudi dediščino, vnaprej določeni glede na namen njega, ki vse stvari dela po sklepu svoje lastne volje;
in whom also we have obtained our inheritance, predestinated according to the purpose of him who effectually worketh all things according to the counsel of his own will:
12 da bi bili mi, ki smo prvi zaupali v Kristusa, v hvalo njegove slave.
that we should be to the praise of his glory, who first had hope in Christ.
13 V katerega ste tudi vi zaupali, potem ko ste slišali besedo resnice, evangelij rešitve svojih duš. V katerem ste bili potem, ko ste verovali, tudi zapečateni s tem Svetim Duhom obljube,
In whom ye also trusted after ye had heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation; in whom also, having believed, ye have been sealed with the holy Spirit of promise,
14 ki je poroštvo naše dediščine do odkupitve kupljene lastnine, v hvalo njegove slave.
which is the earnest of our inheritance, until the final redemption, acquired by him, come, to the praise of his glory.
15 Zato se tudi jaz, potem ko sem slišal o vaši veri v Gospoda Jezusa in ljubezni do vseh svetih,
For this cause I also, since I heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus, and the love ye have to all saints,
16 ne preneham zahvaljevati za vas in vas omenjati v svojih molitvah;
have not ceased offering up my praises for you, making mention of you in my prayers,
17 da bi vam Bog našega Gospoda Jezusa Kristusa, Oče slave, lahko dal duha modrosti in razodetja v spoznanju njega.
that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, would give you the spirit of wisdom and revelation by the knowledge of him;
18 Da bi bile oči vašega razumevanja razsvetljene, da boste lahko vedeli kakšno je upanje njegovega klicanja in kakšna bogastva slave njegove dediščine v svetih
the eyes of your understanding being enlightened, that you may know what is the hope to which he hath called you, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance for the saints,

and what the transcendent greatness of his power in us, who believe, according to the energy of his mighty strength
20 ki jo je učinkovito prikazal v Kristusu, ko ga je obudil od mrtvih in ga postavil na svojo lastno desnico v nebeških prostorih,
which he displayed in Christ when he raised him from the dead, and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly regions,
21 daleč nad vsako kneževino in oblast in moč in gospostvo ter [nad] vsako ime, ki je poimenovano ne samo na tem svetu, temveč tudi na tem, ki prihaja. (aiōn g165)
far above all principality, and authority, and power, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come; (aiōn g165)
22 In vse stvari je položil pod njegova stopala in mu dal, da je nad vsemi stvarmi, glava cerkvi,
and hath put all things under his feet, and hath appointed him head over all to the church,
23 ki je njegovo telo, polnost njega, ki izpolnjuje vse v vsem.
which is his body, the fulness of him that filleth all in all.
