2 Samuel 21
1 V Davidovih dneh je bila takrat tam tri leta lakota, leto za letom. David je poizvedel od Gospoda. In Gospod je odgovoril: » To je zaradi Savla in zaradi njegove krvoločne hiše, ker je pobil Gibeónce.«
Now there was a famine in the days of David for three consecutive years, so David sought the face of YHWH. And YHWH said, "There is bloodguilt on Saul and on his house, because he murdered the Gibeonites."
2 Kralj je poklical Gibeónce in jim rekel; (torej Gibeónci niso bili izmed Izraelovih otrok, temveč od ostanka Amoréjcev in Izraelovi otroci so jim prisegli. Savel pa si je prizadeval, da jih v svoji gorečnosti do Izraelovih otrok in Juda, pokonča.)
So the king summoned the Gibeonites, and spoke to them. (Now the Gibeonites were not of the children of Israel but of the remnant of the Amorites. And the children of Israel had sworn to them, but Saul sought to exterminate them in his zeal for the children of Israel and Judah.)
3 Zato je David rekel Gibeóncem: »Kaj naj storim za vas? S čim naj storim spravo, da boste lahko blagoslovili Gospodovo dediščino?«
And David said to the Gibeonites, "What can I do for you? And how can I make atonement, that you may bless the inheritance of YHWH?"
4 Gibeónci so mu rekli: »Nočemo imeti niti Savlovega srebra, niti zlata, niti njegovih hiš, niti ne boš za nas nikogar ubil v Izraelu.« Rekel je: »Kar boste rekli, to bom storil za vas.«
The Gibeonites said to him, "It is not a matter of silver or gold between us and Saul or his house, nor is it our place to put anyone to death in Israel." Then he said, "What do you want? For I will do it for you."
5 Kralju so odgovorili: »Od človeka, ki nas je použil in ki je snoval zoper nas, da bi bili mi uničeni od preostanka v vseh Izraelovih pokrajinah,
So they said to the king, "The man who opposed us and persecuted us, who meant to eradicate us from having a place anywhere in the territory of Israel,
6 naj nam bo izročenih sedem mož izmed njegovih sinov in obesili jih bomo Gospodu v Savlovi Gíbei, ki ga je Gospod izbral.« Kralj je rekel: »Dal jih bom.«
let seven of his sons be delivered to us, and we will hang them before YHWH at Gibeon on the mountain of YHWH." And the king replied, "I will do it."
7 Toda kralj je prizanesel Mefibóšetu, sinu Savlovega sina Jonatana, zaradi Gospodove prisege, ki je bila med njima, med Davidom in Savlovim sinom Jonatanom.
But the king spared Mippibaal, the son of Jonathan, the son of Saul, because of YHWH's oath that was between them, between David and Jonathan the son of Saul.
8 Temveč je kralj vzel dva sinova Ajájeve hčere Ricpe, ki jih je rodila Savlu, Armoníja in Mefibóšeta in pet sinov Savlove hčere Mihále, ki jih je vzgojila za Adriéla, sina Mehólčana Barzilája
But the king took the two sons of Rizpah the daughter of Aiah, whom she bore to Saul, Armoni and Mippibaal; and the five sons of Merob the daughter of Saul, whom she bore to Adriel the son of Barzillai the Meholathite.
9 in izročil jih je v roke Gibeóncem in obesili so jih na hribu pred Gospodom. Vseh sedem je skupaj padlo in bili so usmrčeni v dneh žetve, v prvih dneh, v začetku ječmenove žetve.
And he delivered them into the hands of the Gibeonites, and they hanged them on the mountain before YHWH, and all seven of them fell together. And they were put to death in the first days of harvest at the beginning of barley harvest.
10 Ajájeva hči Ricpa pa je vzela vrečevino in jo razgrinjala na skali od začetka žetve, dokler nanje ni kapljala voda z neba in ni pustila niti pticam neba, da na njih počivajo podnevi niti živalim polja ponoči.
And Rizpah the daughter of Aiah took sackcloth and spread it for herself on a rock, from the beginning of harvest until it rained on them from the sky. And she did not allow the birds of the sky to rest on them by day, nor the wild animals by night.
11 To je bilo povedano Davidu, kaj je storila Savlova priležnica, Ajájeva hči Ricpa.
It was told David what Rizpah the daughter of Aiah, the secondary wife of Saul, had done.
12 David je odšel in vzel Savlove kosti in kosti njegovega sina Jonatana od ljudi iz Jabéš Gileáda, ki so jih ukradli iz ulice Bet Šeána, kjer so jih Filistejci obesili, ko so Filistejci umorili Savla na Gilbói.

And he buried the bones of Saul and Jonathan in the land of Benjamin in Zela, in the tomb of Kish his father. And they performed all that the king commanded. After that God responded to prayers for the land.
15 Poleg tega so Filistejci ponovno imeli vojno z Izraelom in David je šel dol in njegovi služabniki z njim in borili so se zoper Filistejce, David pa je postal slaboten.
The Philistines had war again with Israel; and David went down, and his servants with him, and fought against the Philistines. Now David became exhausted,

But Abishai the son of Zeruiah helped him and struck the Philistine, and killed him. Then the men of David took an oath, saying, "You must not go out to battle with us again, so that you do not extinguish the lamp of Israel."
18 Pripetilo se je po tem, da je bila ponovno bitka s Filistejci pri Gobu. Takrat je Hušán Sibeháj ubil Safa, ki je bil izmed sinov velikana.
Now it came to pass after this that there was another battle with the Philistines at Gezer. Then Sibbekai the Hushathite killed Saph, a descendant of the Raphah.
19 In tam je bila ponovno bitka s Filistejci v Gobu, kjer je Elhanán, sin Betlehemca Jaaré Orgíma, usmrtil brata Gitéjca Goljata, katerega palica njegove sulice je bila podobna tkalčevemu brunu.
There was again war with the Philistines at Gob; and Elhanan the son of Jair the Bethlehemite killed the brother of Goliath the Gittite, the staff of whose spear was like a weaver's beam.
20 In tam je bila spet bitka v Gatu, kjer je bil mož visoke postave, ki je imel na vsaki roki šest prstov in na vsakem stopalu šest prstov, štiriindvajset po številu, in tudi on je bil rojen velikanu.
There was another battle at Gath, where there was a man of great stature who had on six fingers on each hand, and six toes on each foot, twenty four in number, and he also was a descendant of Raphah.
21 Ko je izzival Izraela, ga je Jonatan, sin Davidovega brata Šimája, usmrtil.
When he defied Israel, Jonathan the son of Shimeah, David's brother, killed him.
22 Ti štirje so bili rojeni velikanu v Gatu in padli so po Davidovi roki in po roki njegovih služabnikov.
These four were descendants of Raphah in Gath; and they fell by the hand of David, and by the hand of his servants.
