1 V dvanajstem letu Judovega kralja Aháza je v Samariji nad Izraelom začel kraljevati Elájev sin Hošéa [za] devet let.
In the twelfth year of Ahaz king of Judah reigned hath Hoshea son of Elah in Samaria, over Israel — nine years,
2 Počel je to, kar je bilo zlo v Gospodovih očeh, toda ne kakor Izraelovi kralji, ki so bili pred njim.
and he doth the evil thing in the eyes of Jehovah, only, not as the kings of Israel who were before him;
3 Zoper njega je prišel gor asirski kralj Salmanasar in Hošéa je postal njegov služabnik in mu izročil darila.
against him came up Shalmaneser king of Asshur, and Hoshea is to him a servant, and doth render to him a present.
4 Asirski kralj je pri Hošéu našel zaroto, kajti ta je poslal poslance k egiptovskemu kralju Soju in ni prinesel nobenega darila k asirskemu kralju, kakor je počel leto za letom, zato ga je asirski kralj zaprl in ga zvezal v ječi.
And the king of Asshur findeth in Hoshea a conspiracy, in that he hath sent messengers unto So king of Egypt, and hath not caused a present to go up to the king of Asshur, as year by year, and the king of Asshur restraineth him, and bindeth him in a house of restraint.
5 Potem je asirski kralj prišel gor skozi vso deželo, se dvignil do Samarije in jo tri leta oblegal.
And the king of Asshur goeth up into all the land, and he goeth up to Samaria, and layeth siege against it three years;
6 V devetem letu kralja Hošéa, je asirski kralj zavzel Samarijo in Izraela odvedel proč v Asirijo ter jih nastanil v Haláhu in Habórju, pri reki Gozán in v mestih Medijcev.
in the ninth year of Hoshea hath the king of Asshur captured Samaria, and removeth Israel to Asshur, and causeth them to dwell in Halah, and in Habor, [by] the river Gozan, and [in] the cities of the Medes.
7 Kajti bilo je tako, da so Izraelovi otroci grešili zoper Gospoda, svojega Boga, ki jih je privedel gor iz egiptovske dežele, izpod roke faraona, egiptovskega kralja in so se bali drugih bogov
And it cometh to pass, because the sons of Israel have sinned against Jehovah their God — who bringeth them up out of the land of Egypt, from under the hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt — and fear other gods,
8 in hodili po zakonih poganov, ki jih je Gospod pregnal izpred Izraelovih otrok in [po poganskih navadah] Izraelovih kraljev, ki so si jih naredili.
and walk in the statutes of the nations that Jehovah dispossessed from the presence of the sons of Israel, and of the kings of Israel that they made;
9 Izraelovi otroci so zoper Gospoda, svojega Boga, naskrivaj počeli te stvari, ki niso bile pravilne in si gradili visoke kraje po vseh svojih mestih, od stražarskega stolpa do utrjenega mesta.
and the sons of Israel do covertly things that [are] not right against Jehovah their God, and build for them high places in all their cities, from a tower of the watchers unto the fenced city,
10 Postavljali so si podobe in ašere na vsakem visokem hribu in pod vsakim zelenim drevesom
and set up for them standing-pillars and shrines on every high height, and under every green tree,
11 in tam zažigali kadilo na vseh visokih krajih, kakor so počeli pogani, ki jih je Gospod odvedel izpred njih in počeli zlobne stvari, da Gospoda izzivajo k jezi,
and make perfume there in all high places, like the nations that Jehovah removed from their presence, and do evil things to provoke Jehovah,
12 kajti služili so malikom, o katerih jim je Gospod rekel: »Vi ne boste počeli te stvari.«
and serve the idols, of which Jehovah said to them, 'Ye do not do this thing;'
13 Vendar je Gospod pričeval zoper Izraela in zoper Juda po vseh prerokih in po vseh vidcih, rekoč: »Obrnite se od svojih zlobnih poti in se držite mojih zapovedi in mojih zakonov, glede na vso postavo, ki sem jo zapovedal vašim očetom in ki sem jo poslal k vam po mojih služabnikih prerokih.«
And Jehovah testifieth against Israel, and against Judah, by the hand of every prophet, and every seer, saying, 'Turn back from your evil ways, and keep My commands, My statutes, according to all the law that I commanded your fathers, and that I sent unto you by the hand of My servants the prophets;'
14 Vendar niso hoteli poslušati, temveč so otrdili svoje vratove, podobno vratovom svojih očetov, da niso verovali v Gospoda, svojega Boga.
and they have not hearkened, and harden their neck, like the neck of their fathers, who did not remain stedfast in Jehovah their God,
15 Zavrnili so njegove zakone in njegovo zavezo, ki jo je sklenil z njihovimi očeti in njegova pričevanja, ki jih je pričeval zoper njih. Sledili so ničevosti, postali prazni in odšli za pogani, ki so bili naokoli njih, glede katerih jim je Gospod naročil, da naj ne bi počeli kakor oni.
and reject His statutes and His covenant that He made with their fathers, and His testimonies that He testified against them, and go after the vain thing, and become vain, and after the nations that are round about them, of whom Jehovah commanded them not to do like them;
16 Zapustili so vse zapovedi Gospoda, svojega Boga in si naredili ulite podobe, celó dve teleti, naredili ašero, oboževali vso vojsko neba in služili Báalu.
And they forsake all the commands of Jehovah their God, and make to them a molten image — two calves, and make a shrine, and bow themselves to all the host of the heavens, and serve Baal,
17 Svojim sinovom in svojim hčeram so povzročali, da gredo skozi ogenj in uporabljali so vedeževanje, izrekanje urokov in se prodajali, da počno zlo v Gospodovih očeh, da ga izzivajo do jeze.
and cause their sons and their daughters to pass over through fire, and divine divinations, and use enchantments, and sell themselves to do the evil thing in the eyes of Jehovah, to provoke Him;
18 Zato je bil Gospod zelo jezen nad Izraelom in jih odstranil iz svojega pogleda. Tam ni ostal nihče razen samo Judov rod.
That Jehovah sheweth himself very angry against Israel, and turneth them aside from His presence; none hath been left, only the tribe of Judah by itself.
19 Tudi Juda se ni držal zapovedi Gospoda, svojega Boga, temveč je hodil po Izraelovih zakonih, ki so jih naredili.
Also Judah hath not kept the commands of Jehovah their God, and they walk in the statutes of Israel that they had made.
20 Gospod je zavrnil vse Izraelovo seme, jih prizadel in jih izročil v roko plenilcev, dokler jih ni pognal izpred svojega pogleda.
And Jehovah kicketh against all the seed of Israel, and afflicteth them, and giveth them into the hand of spoilers, till that He hath cast them out of His presence,
21 Kajti Izraela je odtrgal od Davidove hiše in Nebátovega sina Jerobeáma so postavili za kralja. Jerobeám je Izraela pregnal od sledenja Gospodu in jih primoral, da zagrešijo velik greh.
for He hath rent Israel from the house of David, and they make Jeroboam son of Nebat king, and Jeroboam driveth Israel from after Jehovah, and hath caused them to sin a great sin,
22 Kajti Izraelovi otroci so hodili v vseh Jerobeámovih grehih, ki jih je ta storil; niso se odvrnili od njih,
and the sons of Israel walk in all the sins of Jeroboam that he did, they have not turned aside therefrom,
23 dokler ni Gospod Izraela odstranil izpred svojega pogleda, kakor je govoril po vseh svojih služabnikih prerokih. Tako je bil Izrael odveden proč iz svoje lastne dežele, v Asirijo, do današnjega dne.
till that Jehovah hath turned Israel aside from His presence, as He spake by the hand of all His servants the prophets, and Israel is removed from off its land to Asshur, unto this day.
24 Asirski kralj pa je privedel može iz Babilona, iz Kute, iz Avája, iz Hamáta in iz Sefarvájima ter jih namesto Izraelovih otrok postavil v mesta Samarije. Samarijo so vzeli v last in prebivali v njenih mestih.
And the king of Asshur bringeth in from Babylon and from Cutha, and from Ava, and from Hamath, and Sepharvaim, and causeth [them] to dwell in the cities of Samaria instead of the sons of Israel, and they possess Samaria, and dwell in its cities;
25 Na začetku njihovega prebivanja je bilo tam tako, da se niso bali Gospoda, zato je Gospod mednje poslal leve, ki so usmrtili nekatere izmed njih.
and it cometh to pass, at the commencement of their dwelling there, they have not feared Jehovah, and Jehovah doth send among them the lions, and they are destroying among them.
26 Zato so asirskemu kralju govorili, rekoč: »Narodi, ki si jih odstranil in postavil v samarijska mesta, ne poznajo sodbe Boga dežele, zato je mednje poslal leve in glej, ti jih pobijajo, ker ne poznajo sodbe Boga dežele.«
And they speak to the king of Asshur, saying, 'The nations that thou hast removed, and dost place in the cities of Samaria, have not known the custom of the God of the land, and He sendeth among them the lions, and lo, they are destroying them, as they do not know the custom of the God of the land.'
27 Potem je asirski kralj zapovedal, rekoč: »Odvedite tja enega izmed duhovnikov, ki ste jih privedli od tam in naj gredo in prebivajo tam in naj jih nauči sodbe Boga dežele.«
And the king of Asshur commandeth, saying, 'Cause to go thither one of the priests whom ye removed thence, and they go and dwell there, and he doth teach them the custom of the God of the land.'
28 Potem je eden izmed duhovnikov, ki so ga odvedli iz Samarije, prišel in prebival v Betelu ter jih učil, kako naj bi se bali Gospoda.
And one of the priests whom they removed from Samaria cometh in, and dwelleth in Beth-El, and he is teaching them how they do fear Jehovah,
29 Vendar je vsak narod izdelal svoje lastne bogove in jih postavil v hiše visokih krajev, ki so jih naredili Samarijani, vsak narod v svoja mesta, v katerih so prebivali.
and they are making each nation its gods, and place [them] in the houses of the high places that the Samaritans have made, each nation in their cities where they are dwelling.
30 Možje iz Babilona so naredili Sukót Benót, možje iz Kute so naredili Nergála, možje iz Hamáta so naredili Ašimája,
And the men of Babylon have made Succoth-Benoth, and the men of Cuth have made Nergal, and the men of Hamath have made Ashima,
31 Avéjci so naredili Nibháza in Tartáka, Sefarvéjci pa so svoje otroke v ognju sežigali Adramélehu in Anamélehu, sefarvájimskima bogovoma.
and the Avites have made Nibhaz and Tartak, and the Sepharvites are burning their sons with fire to Adrammelech and Anammelech, gods of Sepharvim.
32 Tako so se bali Gospoda in si postavili najnižje izmed njih za duhovnike visokih krajev, ki so zanje žrtvovali v hišah visokih krajev.
And they are fearing Jehovah, and make to themselves from their extremities priests of high places, and they are acting for them in the house of the high places.
33 Bali so se Gospoda in služili svojim lastnim bogovom po običaju narodov, od katerih so jih odvedli.
Jehovah they are fearing, and their gods they are serving, according to the custom of the nations whence they removed them.
34 Do tega dne počnejo po prejšnjih navadah. Ne bojijo se Gospoda niti ne delajo po njihovih zakonih ali po njihovih odredbah ali po postavi in zapovedi, ki jo je Gospod zapovedal Jakobovim otrokom, ki jih je imenoval Izrael,
Unto this day they are doing according to the former customs — they are not fearing Jehovah, and are not doing according to their statutes, and according to their ordinances, and according to the law, and according to the command, that Jehovah commanded the sons of Jacob whose name He made Israel,
35 s katerimi je Gospod sklenil zavezo in jim naročil, rekoč: »Vi se ne boste bali drugih bogov, niti se jim ne boste priklanjali, niti jim služili, niti jim žrtvovali,
and Jehovah maketh with them a covenant, and chargeth them, saying, 'Ye do not fear other gods, nor bow yourselves to them, nor serve them, nor sacrifice to them,
36 temveč Gospoda, ki vas je privedel gor iz egiptovske dežele z veliko močjo in z iztegnjenim laktom, njega se boste bali in njega boste oboževali in njemu boste žrtvovali.
but Jehovah who brought you up out of the land of Egypt with great power, and with a stretched-out arm, Him ye do fear, and to Him ye bow yourselves, and to Him ye do sacrifice;
37 Zakone, predpise, odredbe in zapoved, ki vam jo je zapisal, boste obeleževali, da jih izvajate na vékomaj in ne boste se bali drugih bogov.
and the statutes, and the judgments, and the law, and the command, that He wrote for you, ye observe to do all the days, and ye do not fear other gods;
38 Zaveze, ki sem jo sklenil z vami, ne boste pozabili niti se ne boste bali drugih bogov.
and the covenant that I have made with you ye do not forget, and ye do not fear other gods;
39 Temveč se boste bali Gospoda, svojega Boga in on vas bo osvobodil iz roke vseh vaših sovražnikov.«
but Jehovah your God ye do fear, and He doth deliver you out of the hand of all your enemies;'
40 Vendar niso prisluhnili, temveč so počeli po svoji prejšnji navadi.
and they have not hearkened, but according to their former custom they are doing,
41 Tako so se ti narodi bali Gospoda in služili svojim rezanim podobam, tako njihovi otroci in otroci njihovih otrok, kakor so počeli njihovi očetje, tako počnejo do današnjega dne.
and these nations are fearing Jehovah, and their graven images they have served, both their sons and their sons' sons; as their fathers did, they are doing unto this day.
