1 И рече Господь к Моисею, глаголя:
And YHWH speaks to Moses, saying,
2 посли от себе мужы, и да соглядают землю Ханаанску, юже Аз даю сыном Израилевым во одержание: мужа единаго от племене, по сонмом отечеств их, да послеши их всякаго старейшину от них.
“Send men for yourself, and they spy out the land of Canaan, which I am giving to the sons of Israel; one man—you send one man for the tribe of his fathers, everyone a prince among them.”
3 И посла я Моисей от пустыни Фарани глаголголом Господним: вси мужи старейшины сынов Израилевых сии, и сия имена их:
And Moses sends them from the wilderness of Paran by the command of YHWH; all of them [are] men, [and] they are heads of the sons of Israel,
4 от племене Рувимля Самуил сын Закхуров:
and these [are] their names: for the tribe of Reuben, Shammua son of Zaccur;
5 от племене Симеоня Сафат сын Сурин:
for the tribe of Simeon, Shaphat son of Hori;
6 от племене Иудина Халев сын Иефонниин:
for the tribe of Judah, Caleb son of Jephunneh;
7 от племене Иссахаря Игал сын Иосифль:
for the tribe of Issachar, Igal son of Joseph;
8 от племене Ефремля Авсис сын Навин:
for the tribe of Ephraim, Oshea son of Nun;
9 от племене Вениаминя Фалтий сын Рафуов:
for the tribe of Benjamin, Palti son of Raphu;
10 от племене Завулоня Гудиил сын Судин:
for the tribe of Zebulun, Gaddiel son of Sodi;
11 от племене Иосифля сынов Манассииных Гадди сын Сусин:
for the tribe of Joseph (for the tribe of Manasseh), Gaddi son of Susi;
12 от племене Данова Амиил сын Гамалин:
for the tribe of Dan, Ammiel son of Gemalli;
13 от племене Асирова Сафур сын Михаиль:
for the tribe of Asher, Sethur son of Michael;
14 от племене Неффалимля Навий сын Савинь:
for the tribe of Naphtali, Nahbi son of Vopshi;
15 от племене Гадова Гудиил сын Махииль.
for the tribe of Gad, Geuel son of Machi.
16 Сия имена мужей, ихже посла Моисей соглядати землю: и прозва Моисей Авсиа сына Навина Иисус.
These [are] the names of the men whom Moses has sent to spy out the land; and Moses calls Hoshea son of Nun, Joshua.
17 И посла я Моисей от пустыни Фарани соглядати земли Ханаанския, и рече к ним: взыдите пустынею сею, и взыдете на гору.
And Moses sends them to spy out the land of Canaan and says to them, “Go up this [way] into the south, and you have gone up the mountain,
18 И узрите землю, какова есть, и люди седящыя на ней, аще сильни суть, или немощни, мало ли их есть, или много?
and have seen the land, what it [is], and the people which is dwelling on it, whether it [is] strong or feeble, [and] whether it [is] few or many;
19 И какова земля, на нейже сии седят, добра ли есть, или зла? И какови гради, в нихже живут сии, ограждени ли суть, или не ограждени?
and what the land [is] in which it is dwelling, whether it [is] good or bad; and what [are] the cities in which it is dwelling, whether in camps or in fortresses.
20 И какова земля, изюбилна ли, или не изюбилна? Суть ли на ней древеса, или ни? И укрепившеся, возмите от плодов земли. Дние же бяху весенни, предваряющии ягоды.
And what the land [is], whether it [is] fat or lean; whether there is wood in it or not; and you have strengthened yourselves, and have taken of the fruit of the land”; now the days [are] days of the first-fruits of grapes.
21 И шедше соглядаша землю от пустыни Син даже да Роова, до входов Емаф.
And they go up and spy out the land, from the wilderness of Zin to Rehob at the going in to Hamath;
22 И идоша по пустыни, и приидоша до Хеврона: и тамо (живяше) Ахиман и Сессий и Феламин, роды Енаковы: и Хеврон создася седмию леты прежде Танина (града) Египетскаго.
and they go up by the south, and come to Hebron, and there [are] Ahiman, Sheshai, and Talmai, children of Anak (and Hebron was built seven years before Zoan in Egypt),
23 И приидоша до дебри Гроздныя, и соглядаша ю: и урезаша оттуду ветвь, и грозд винограда един на ней, и воздвигоша ю на жердь, и от шипков, и от смоквей.
and they come to the Brook of Eshcol, and cut down a branch and one cluster of grapes there, and they carry it on a staff by two, also [some] of the pomegranates, and of the figs.
24 И место оно назваша дебрь Гроздная, грозда ради, егоже урезаша оттуду сынове Израилтестии.
That place has been called the Brook of Eshcol, because of the cluster which the sons of Israel cut from there.
25 И возвратишася оттуду, соглядавше землю по четыредесяти днех.
And they return from spying out the land at the end of forty days.
26 И ходивше приидоша к Моисею и Аарону и ко всему сонму сынов Израилевых в пустыню Фараню в Кадис: и поведаша им слово и всему сонму, и показаша им плод земный.,
And they go and come to Moses, and to Aaron, and to all the congregation of the sons of Israel, to the wilderness of Paran, to Kadesh; and they bring them and all the congregation back word, and show them the fruit of the land.
27 и поведаша ему, и рекоша: ходихом на землю, на нюже посылал еси нас, на землю кипящую млеком и медом, и сий плод ея:
And they recount to him, and say, “We came to the land to where you have sent us, and it is indeed flowing with milk and honey—and this [is] its fruit;
28 кроме яко людие сильни зело, иже на ней живут, и гради утверждени ограждением велицы зело, и род Енаков видехом тамо:
only, surely the people which is dwelling in the land [is] strong; and the cities are fortified [and] very great; and we have also seen children of Anak there.
29 и Амалик живет в земли к югу: и Хеттей и Евей, и Иевусей и Аморрей живут в горах: и Хананей живет при мори и при Иордане реце.
Amalek is dwelling in the land of the south, and the Hittite, and the Jebusite, and the Amorite are dwelling in the hill country, and the Canaanite is dwelling by the sea, and by the side of the Jordan.”
30 И утиши Халев люди пред Моисеом, и рече ему: никакоже, на восходя взыдем и приимем ю в наследие, яко сильни есмы преодолети им.
And Caleb stills the people concerning Moses and says, “Let us certainly go up—and we have possessed it; for we are thoroughly able to [do] it.”
31 И человецы ходившии с ним рекоша: не идем, яко не можем изыти противу языку (сему), яко крепльший есть паче нас.
And the men who have gone up with him said, “We are not able to go up against the people, for it [is] stronger than we”;
32 И изнесоша ужас земли, юже соглядаша, к сыном Израилевым, глаголюще: землю юже проидохом соглядающе, земля есть поядающи живущыя на ней, и вси люди, ихже видехом на ней, мужи превысоцыи:
and they bring out an evil account of the land which they have spied out to the sons of Israel, saying, “The land into which we passed over to spy it out is a land eating up its inhabitants; and all the people whom we saw in its midst [are] men of stature;
33 и тамо видехом исполины, сыны Енаковы, и бехом пред ними яко прузи, и тако бехом пред ними.
and there we saw the giants, sons of Anak, of the giants; and we are as grasshoppers in our own eyes—and so we were in their eyes.”
