1 И собрашася мужие Ефремли и приидоша в Сефину, и реша Иеффаю: почто ходил еси ополчитися на сыны Аммони, и нас не позвал еси ити с тобою? Дом твой с тобою сожжем огнем.
And the men of Ephraim were gathered together, and passed northward; and they said unto Jephthah, Wherefore passedst thou over to fight against the children of Ammon, and didst not call us to go with thee? we will burn thy house upon thee with fire.
2 И рече к ним Иеффай: имех прю аз и людие мои, и сынове Аммони оскорбиша мене зело: и воззвах вас, и не избависте мене от руки их:
And Jephthah said unto them, I and my people were at great strife with the children of Ammon; and when I called you, ye saved me not out of their hand.
3 и видех, яко не бяше спасающаго, и положих душу мою в руку мою, и приидох к сыном Аммоним, и предаде я Господь в руку мою: и вскую приидосте ко мне днесь, ополчити ли ся на мя?
And when I saw that ye saved me not, I put my life in my hand, and passed over against the children of Ammon, and Jehovah delivered them into my hand: wherefore then are ye come up unto me this day, to fight against me?
4 И собра Иеффай вся мужы Галаадски и ополчися на Ефрема: и избиша мужие Галаадстии Ефрема, понеже глаголаху: уцелевшии от Ефрема, вы Галаад среде Ефрема и среде Манассии.
Then Jephthah gathered together all the men of Gilead, and fought with Ephraim; and the men of Gilead smote Ephraim, because they said, Ye are fugitives of Ephraim, ye Gileadites, in the midst of Ephraim, [and] in the midst of Manasseh.
5 И засяде Галаад проходы у Иордана Ефремовы. И бысть егда реша уцелевшии от Ефрема: прейдем: и рекоша им мужие Галаадстии: еда ли от Ефрема вы? И реша: несмы.
And the Gileadites took the fords of the Jordan against the Ephraimites. And it was so, that, when [any of] the fugitives of Ephraim said, Let me go over, the men of Gilead said unto him, Art thou an Ephraimite? If he said, Nay;
6 И реша им: рцыте, клас. И не управиша рещи тако: и имаху их, и закалаху у преходов Иорданих: и падоша в то время от Ефрема четыредесять и две тысящы.
then said they unto him, Say now Shibboleth; and he said Sibboleth; for he could not frame to pronounce it right: then they laid hold on him, and slew him at the fords of the Jordan. And there fell at that time of Ephraim forty and two thousand.
7 И суди Иеффай Израилеви лет шесть: и умре Иеффай Галаадитин, и погребен бысть во граде своем в Галааде.
And Jephthah judged Israel six years. Then died Jephthah the Gileadite, and was buried in [one of] the cities of Gilead.
8 И суди по нем Израилеви Есевон от Вифлеема:
And after him Ibzan of Beth-lehem judged Israel.
9 и быша ему тридесять сыны и тридесять дщери, яже отдаде вон (мужем), и тридесять жен приведе сыном своим отвне: и суди Израилеви седмь лет:
And he had thirty sons; and thirty daughters he sent abroad, and thirty daughters he brought in from abroad for his sons. And he judged Israel seven years.
10 и умре Есевон, и погребен бысть в Вифлееме.
And Ibzan died, and was buried at Beth-lehem.
11 И суди по нем Израилеви Елон Завулонянин десять лет:
And after him Elon the Zebulunite judged Israel; and he judged Israel ten years.
12 и умре Елон Завулонянин, и погребен бысть во Елиме в земли Завулони.
And Elon the Zebulunite died, and was buried in Aijalon in the land of Zebulun.
13 И суди по нем Израилеви Авдон сын Еллихов Фарафонитин:
And after him Abdon the son of Hillel the Pirathonite judged Israel.
14 и быша ему четыредесять сынове и тридесять внуцы, ездящии на седмидесяти ослех: и суди Израилеви осмь лет:
And he had forty sons and thirty sons’ sons, that rode on threescore and ten ass colts: and he judged Israel eight years.
15 и умре Авдон сын Еллихов Фарафонитин, и погребен бысть в Фарафоне, в земли Ефремли, в горе Амаликове.
And Abdon the son of Hillel the Pirathonite died, and was buried in Pirathon in the land of Ephraim, in the hill-country of the Amalekites.
