Книга Иова 28
1 Есть бо сребру место, отюнудуже и бывает, и место злату, отюнудуже очищается.
For there is a mine for silver, and a place for gold which they refine.
2 Железо бо из земли раждается, медь же равно камению сечется.
Iron is taken out of the dust, and brass is molten out of the stone.
3 Чин положи тме, и вся концы сам испытует, камык тмы и сень смерти.
Man setteth an end to darkness, and searcheth out to the furthest bound the stones of thick darkness and of the shadow of death.
4 Пресечение потока от праха: забывающии же путь правый изнемогоша, от человек подвигошася.
He breaketh open a shaft away from where men sojourn; they are forgotten of the foot that passeth by; they hang afar from men, they swing to and fro.
5 Есть земля, из неяже изыдет хлеб: под нею обратися яко огнь.
As for the earth, out of it cometh bread, and underneath it is turned up as it were by fire.
6 Место сапфира камение ея, и персть злато ему.
The stones thereof are the place of sapphires, and it hath dust of gold.
7 Стезя, не позна ея птица, и не узре ю око супово,
That path no bird of prey knoweth, neither hath the falcon's eye seen it;
8 и не ходиша по ней сынове величавых, и не прейде по ней лев.
The proud beasts have not trodden it, nor hath the lion passed thereby.
9 На несекоме камени простре руку свою, преврати же из корения горы:
He putteth forth his hand upon the flinty rock; He overturneth the mountains by the roots.
10 бреги рек расторже, всякое же честное виде око мое:
He cutteth out channels among the rocks; and his eye seeth every precious thing.
11 глубины же рек откры и показа силу свою на свет.
He bindeth the streams that they trickle not; and the thing that is hid bringeth he forth to light.
12 Премудрость же откуду обретеся? И кое место есть ведения?
But wisdom, where shall it be found? And where is the place of understanding?
13 Не весть человек пути ея, ниже обретеся в человецех.
Man knoweth not the price thereof; neither is it found in the land of the living.
14 Бездна рече: несть во мне: и море рече: несть со мною.
The deep saith: 'It is not in me'; and the sea saith: 'It is not with me.'
15 Не дастся сокровище за ню, и не извесится сребро на изменение ея,
It cannot be gotten for gold, neither shall silver be weighed for the price thereof.
16 и не сравнится со златом Софирским, со ониксом честным и сапфиром:
It cannot be valued with the gold of Ophir, with the precious onyx, or the sapphire.
17 не равно будет ей злато и кристаль, и изменение ея сосуди злати.
Gold and glass cannot equal it; neither shall the exchange thereof be vessels of fine gold.
18 Превысокая и бисерие не помянутся, и притяжи премудрость паче внутреннейших:
No mention shall be made of coral or of crystal; yea, the price of wisdom is above rubies.
19 не уравнится ей топазий Ефиопский, со златом чистым не сравнится.
The topaz of Ethiopia shall not equal it, neither shall it be valued with pure gold.
20 Премудрость же откуду обретеся? И кое место есть разуму?
Whence then cometh wisdom? And where is the place of understanding?
21 Утаися от всякаго человека, и от птиц небесных скрыся.
Seeing it is hid from the eyes of all living, and kept close from the fowls of the air.
22 Пагуба и смерть рекосте: слышахом ея славу.
Destruction and Death say: 'We have heard a rumor thereof with our ears.'
23 Бог благо позна ея путь: Сам бо весть место ея.
God understandeth the way thereof, and He knoweth the place thereof.
24 Ибо Сам поднебесную всю надзирает, ведый, яже на земли, вся, яже сотвори.
For He looketh to the ends of the earth, and seeth under the whole heaven;
25 Ветров вес и воде меру егда сотворил,
When He maketh a weight for the wind, and meteth out the waters by measure.
26 тако видяй сочте, и путь в сотрясении гласов,
When He made a decree for the rain, and a way for the storm of thunders;
27 тогда виде ю и поведа ю, уготовав изследи
Then did He see it, and declare it; He established it, yea, and searched it out.
28 и рече человеку: се, благочестие есть премудрость, а еже удалятися от зла есть ведение.
And unto man He said: 'Behold, the fear of the Lord, that is wisdom; and to depart from evil is understanding.'
