1 Не хощу же вас не ведети, братие, яко отцы наши вси под облаком быша, и вси сквозе море проидоша:
Now I would not have you ignorant, brothers, that our fathers were all under the cloud, and all passed through the sea;
2 и вси в Моисеа крестишася во облаце и в мори:
and were all baptized into Moses in the cloud and in the sea;
3 и вси тожде брашно духовное ядоша:
and all ate the same spiritual food;
4 и вси тожде пиво духовное пиша, пияху бо от духовнаго последующаго камене: камень же бе Христос.
and all drank the same spiritual drink. For they drank of a spiritual rock that followed them, and the rock was Christ.
5 Но не во множайших их благоволи Бог, поражени бо быша в пустыни.
However with most of them, God was not well pleased, for they were overthrown in the wilderness.
6 Сия же образи нам быша, яко не быти нам похотником злых, якоже и они похотеша.
Now these things were our examples, to the intent we should not lust after evil things as they also lusted.
7 Ни идолослужителе бывайте, якоже нецыи от них, якоже есть писано: седоша людие ясти и пити, и восташа играти.
Don’t be idolaters, as some of them were. As it is written, “The people sat down to eat and drink, and rose up to play.”
8 Ниже соблудим, якоже нецыи от них соблудиша, и падоша во един день двадесять три тысящы.
Let’s not commit sexual immorality, as some of them committed, and in one day twenty-three thousand fell.
9 Ни да искушаим Христа, якоже нецыи от них искусиша и от змий погибоша.
Let’s not test Christ, as some of them tested, and perished by the serpents.
10 Ни ропщите, якоже нецыи от них ропташа и погибоша от всегубителя.
Don’t grumble, as some of them also grumbled, and perished by the destroyer.
11 Сия же вся образи прилучахуся онем: писана же быша в научение наше, в нихже концы век достигоша. (aiōn )
Now all these things happened to them by way of example, and they were written for our admonition, on whom the ends of the ages have come. (aiōn )
12 Темже мняйся стояти да блюдется, да не падет.
Therefore let him who thinks he stands be careful that he doesn’t fall.
13 Искушение вас не достиже, точию человеческое: верен же Бог, Иже не оставит вас искуситися паче, еже можете, но сотворит со искушением и избытие, яко возмощи вам понести.
No temptation has taken you except what is common to man. God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted above what you are able, but will with the temptation also make the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it.
14 Темже, братие моя возлюбленная, бегайте от идолослужения.
Therefore, my beloved, flee from idolatry.
15 Яко мудрым глаголю: судите вы, еже глаголю:
I speak as to wise men. Judge what I say.
16 чаша благословения, юже благословляем, не общение ли Крове Христовы есть? Хлеб, егоже ломим, не общение ли Тела Христова есть?
The cup of blessing which we bless, isn’t it a sharing of the blood of Christ? The bread which we break, isn’t it a sharing of the body of Christ?
17 Яко един хлеб, едино тело есмы мнози: вси бо от единаго хлеба причащаемся.
Because there is one loaf of bread, we, who are many, are one body; for we all partake of the one loaf of bread.
18 Видите Израиля по плоти: не ядущии ли жертвы общницы олтареви суть?
Consider Israel according to the flesh. Don’t those who eat the sacrifices participate in the altar?
19 Что убо глаголю? Яко идол что есть? Или идоложертвенное что есть?
What am I saying then? That a thing sacrificed to idols is anything, or that an idol is anything?
20 Но зане, яже жрут языцы, бесом жрут, а не Богови: не хощу же вас общников быти бесом.
But I say that the things which the Gentiles sacrifice, they sacrifice to demons and not to God, and I don’t desire that you would have fellowship with demons.
21 Не можете чашу Господню пити и чашу бесовскую: не можете трапезе Господней причащатися и трапезе бесовстей.
You can’t both drink the cup of the Lord and the cup of demons. You can’t both partake of the table of the Lord and of the table of demons.
22 Или раздражаем Господа? Еда крепчайши Его есмы?
Or do we provoke the Lord to jealousy? Are we stronger than he?
23 Вся ми леть суть, но не вся на пользу: вся ми леть суть, но не вся назидают.
“All things are lawful for me,” but not all things are profitable. “All things are lawful for me,” but not all things build up.
24 Никтоже своего си да ищет, но еже ближняго кийждо.
Let no one seek his own, but each one his neighbor’s good.
25 Все, еже на торжищи продаемое, ядите, ничтоже сумнящеся, за совесть:
Whatever is sold in the butcher shop, eat, asking no question for the sake of conscience,
26 Господня бо земля и исполнение ея.
for “the earth is the Lord’s, and its fullness.”
27 Аще ли кто от неверных призывает вы, и хощете ити, все предлагаемое вам ядите, ничтоже сумнящеся, за совесть.
But if one of those who don’t believe invites you to a meal, and you are inclined to go, eat whatever is set before you, asking no questions for the sake of conscience.
28 Аще ли же кто вам речет: сие идоложертвенно есть: не ядите за оного поведавшаго, и совесть: Господня бо земля и исполнение ея.
But if anyone says to you, “This was offered to idols,” don’t eat it for the sake of the one who told you, and for the sake of conscience. For “the earth is the Lord’s, with all its fullness.”
29 Совесть же глаголю не свою, но другаго: вскую бо свобода моя судится от иныя совести?
Conscience, I say, not your own, but the other’s conscience. For why is my liberty judged by another conscience?
30 Аще аз благодатию причащаюся, почто хулу приемлю, о немже аз благодарю?
If I partake with thankfulness, why am I denounced for something I give thanks for?
31 Аще убо ясте, аще ли пиете, аще ли ино что творите, вся во славу Божию творите.
Whether therefore you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.
32 Безпреткновени бывайте Иудеем и Еллином и церкви Божией,
Give no occasion for stumbling, whether to Jews, to Greeks, or to the assembly of God;
33 якоже и аз во всем всем угождаю, не иский своея пользы, но многих, да спасутся.
even as I also please all men in all things, not seeking my own profit, but the profit of the many, that they may be saved.
