1 Panguva iyo Herodhe umwe wevatongi vana wakanzwa mukurumbira waJesu,
At that time, Herod the tetrarch heard the report concerning Yeshua,
2 akati kuvaranda vake: Uyu ndiJohwani Mubhabhatidzi; iye wakamuka kuvakafa, naizvozvowo mabasa esimba awa anobata maari.
and said to his servants, "This is Yukhanan the Baptist. He is risen from the dead. That is why these powers work in him."
3 Nokuti Herodhe wakange abata Johwani akamusunga akamuisa mutirongo nekuda kwaHerodhiasi mukadzi waFiripi munin'ina wake.
For Herod had arrested Yukhanan, and bound him, and put him in prison for the sake of Herodia, his brother Philipus's wife.
4 Nokuti Johwani wakange ati kwaari: Hazvitenderwi kwauri kuti uve naye.
For Yukhanan said to him, "It is not lawful for you to have her."
5 Zvino achida kumuuraya, akatya chaunga, nokuti vaimutora semuporofita.
And though he wanted to kill him, he feared the crowd because they regarded him as a prophet.
6 Asi kwakati kuchichengetedzwa zuva rekuberekwa kwaHerodhe, mukunda waHerodhiasi akatamba pakati pavo, akafadza Herodhe.
But when Herod's birthday came, the daughter of Herodia danced among them and pleased Herod.
7 Naizvozvo wakavimbisa nemhiko kuti achamupa chipi nechipi chaaizokumbira.
Whereupon he promised with an oath to give her whatever she should ask.
8 Zvino iye, wakati amborairwa namai vake, akati: Ndipei pano mundiro musoro waJohwani Mubhabhatidzi.
And she, being prompted by her mother, said, "Give me here on a platter the head of Yukhanan the Baptist."
9 Mambo akashungurudzika, asi nekuda kwemhiko, uye kwevakange vagere naye pakudya, wakaraira kuti apiwe.
And the king was grieved, but for the sake of his oaths, and of those who sat at the table with him, he commanded it to be given,
10 Akatuma vanhu, akagura Johwani musoro mutirongo.
and he sent and beheaded Yukhanan in the prison.
11 Musoro wake ukauyiswa mundiro, ukapiwa kumusikana, akauisa kuna mai vake.
And his head was brought on a platter, and given to the young woman: and she brought it to her mother.
12 Vadzidzi vake vakauya vakatora mutumbi vakauviga, vakaenda ndokuudza Jesu.
Then his disciples came, and took the dead body, and buried him; and they went and told Yeshua.
13 Jesu wakati azvinzwa, akabvapo nechikepe, akaenda kunzvimbo yerenje ari ega; asi zvaunga zvakati zvichizvinzwa zvikamutevera netsoka zvichibva mumaguta.
Now when Yeshua heard this, he withdrew from there in a boat, to a secluded place to be alone. When the crowds heard it, they followed him on foot from the cities.

And he went out, and he saw a large crowd, and he had compassion on them, and healed their sick.

Now when evening had come, the disciples came to him, saying, "This place is desolate, and the hour is already late. Send the crowds away, that they may go into the villages, and buy themselves food."
16 Asi Jesu wakati kwavari: Havafaniri kuenda; vapei imwi kuti vadye.
But Yeshua said to them, "They do not need to go away. You give them something to eat."
17 Asi vakati kwaari: Hatina pano kunze kwezvingwa zvishanu nehove mbiri.
And they told him, "We only have here five loaves and two fish."
18 Iye akati: Uyai nazvo pano pandiri.
So he said, "Bring them here to me."
19 Akaraira zvaunga kuti zvigare pasi pauswa, zvino akatora zvingwa zvishanu nehove mbiri, akatarira kumusoro kudenga, akazviropafadza, ndokumedura akapa zvingwa kuvadzidzi, vadzidzi ndokupa kuzvaunga.
Then he commanded the crowds to sit down on the grass; and he took the five loaves and the two fish, and looking up to heaven, he blessed, broke and gave the loaves to the disciples, and the disciples gave to the crowds.
20 Vakadya vese, vakaguta; vakanonga zvimedu zvakasara, matengu gumi nemaviri azere.
And they all ate and were filled, and they took up twelve baskets full of that which remained left over from the broken pieces.
21 Uye vakange vadya vaiva varume vanenge zvuru zvishanu pasina vakadzi nevana.
Now those who ate were about five thousand men, besides women and children.
22 Pakarepo Jesu wakamanikidza vadzidzi vake kupinda muchikepe, vamutungamirire mhiri, iye acharega zvaunga zvichienda.
And immediately he made the disciples get into the boat and to go ahead of him to the other side, while he sent the crowds away.
23 Zvino wakati arega zvaunga zvichienda, akakwira mugomo ari ega kunonyengetera; akati ava madekwani, wakange ari ega ipapo.
And after he had sent the crowds away, he went up into the mountain by himself to pray. When evening had come, he was there alone.
24 Asi chikepe zvino chakange chava pakati pegungwa chichitambudzwa nemafungu; nokuti mhepo yakange ichipikisa.
But the boat was now in the middle of the lake, battered by the waves, for the wind was against it.
25 Nenguva yechina yemurindiro yeusiku Jesu akaenda kwavari achifamba pamusoro pegungwa.
And in the watch between three and six in the morning, he came to them, walking on the lake.
26 Zvino vadzidzi vakati vachimuona achifamba pamusoro pegungwa, vakavhunduka vachiti: Chipoko; ndokudanidzira nekutya.
And when the disciples saw him walking on the lake, they were troubled, saying, "It's a ghost." and they screamed with fear.
27 Asi pakarepo Jesu wakataura navo akati: Tsungai moyo; ndini; musatya.
But immediately Yeshua spoke to them, saying "Cheer up. It is I. Do not be afraid."
28 Petro ndokumupindura akati: Ishe, kana muri imwi, ndirairei ndiuye kwamuri pamusoro pemvura.
Kipha answered him and said, "Lord, if it is you, command me to come to you on the waters."
29 Ndokubva ati: Uya. Petro ndokuburuka muchikepe akafamba pamusoro pemvura, kuenda kuna Jesu.
He said, "Come." Kipha stepped down from the boat, and walked on the water and went toward Yeshua.
30 Asi wakati achiona mhepo ine simba, akatya; zvino otanga kunyura, akadanidzira, achiti: Ishe, ndiponesei!
But when he saw the strong wind, he was afraid, and beginning to sink, he yelled, saying, "Lord, save me."
31 Pakarepo Jesu wakatandavadza ruoko, akamubata, akati kwaari: Iwe werutendo rudiki, unokononei?
Immediately Yeshua stretched out his hand, took hold of him, and said to him, "You of little faith, why did you doubt?"
32 Vakati vapinda muchikepe, mhepo ikanyarara.
When they got up into the boat, the wind ceased.
33 Vakange vari muchikepe ndokuuya vakamunamata vachiti: Zvirokwazvo muri Mwanakomana waMwari.
Those who were in the boat worshiped him, saying, "You are truly the Son of God."
34 Vakati vayambuka, vakasvika panyika yeGenesareti.
When they had crossed over, they came to the land of Gennesaret.
35 Varume venzvimbo iyo vakati vamuziva vakatuma shoko panyika yese iyo yakapoteredza, vakauisa kwaari vese vairwara.
When the people of that place recognized him, they sent into all that surrounding region, and brought to him all who were sick,
36 Vakakumbirisa kwaari kuti vabate chete mupendero wenguvo yake; uye vese vakabata vakaporeswa.
and they begged him that they might just touch the fringe of his garment. And all who touched it were healed.
