1 Nemazuva iwayo zvakwakange kune chaunga chikuru kwazvo, vasina chavangadya, Jesu akadanira vadzidzi vake kwaari, akati kwavari:
In those days, when there was a large crowd, and they had nothing to eat, he called the disciples to himself, and said to them,
2 Ndine tsitsi nechaunga; nokuti chadogara neni mazuva matatu vasina zvavangadya.
"I have compassion on the crowd, because they have stayed with me now three days, and have nothing to eat.
3 Kana ndikavarega vaende kumba kwavo nenzara, vachaziya panzira; nokuti vamwe vavo vanobva kure.
If I send them away fasting to their home, they will faint on the way, and some of them have come a long way."
4 Vadzidzi vake vakamupindura, vakati: Zvingabvepi zvingwa munhu zvaangagutsa nazvo ava murenje muno?
His disciples answered him, "From where could one satisfy these people with bread here in a deserted place?"
5 Akavabvunza, akati: Mune zvingwa zvingani? Vakati: Zvinomwe.
He asked them, "How many loaves do you have?" They said, "Seven."
6 Zvino akaraira chaunga kuti chigare pasi pavhu; akatora zvingwa zvinomwe, akavonga, akazvimedura, ndokupa vadzidzi vake, kuti vaise pamberi pavo; vakazviisa pamberi pechaunga.
He commanded the crowd to sit down on the ground, and he took the seven loaves. Having given thanks, he broke them, and gave them to his disciples to serve, and they served the crowd.
7 Uye vakange vane hove diki shoma; zvino akadziropafadza, akati vadziisewo pamberi pavo.
They had a few small fish. Having blessed them, he said to serve these also.
8 Vakadya, vakaguta; ndokununga zvimedu zvakasara, matengu manomwe.
They ate, and were filled. They took up seven baskets of broken pieces that were left over.
9 Avo vakange vadya vainge vaiva zvuru zvina; akavarega vachienda.
Now they were about four thousand. Then he sent them away.
10 Pakarepo akapinda muchikepe nevadzidzi vake, akauya kumativi eDharimanuta.
Immediately he entered into the boat with his disciples, and came into the region of Dalmanutha.
11 Zvino VaFarisi vakabuda, vakatanga kupikisana naye, vachitsvaka kwaari chiratidzo chinobva kudenga, vachimuidza.
The Pharisees came out and began to question him, seeking from him a sign from heaven, and testing him.
12 Akagomera zvikuru pamweya wake akati: Zera iri rinotsvakirei chiratidzo? Zvirokwazvo ndinoti kwamuri: Hakuna chiratidzo chichapiwa kuzera iri.
He sighed deeply in his spirit, and said, "Why does this generation seek a sign? Truly I tell you, no sign will be given to this generation."
13 Ndokubva avasiya, akapindazve muchikepe, akabva akayambukira kumhiri.
And he left them, and got into the boat again, and went to the other side.
14 Zvino vadzidzi vakange vakanganwa kutora zvingwa; uye vakange vasina navo chinhu muchikepe kunze kwechingwa chimwe chete.
Now they forgot to take bread; and they did not have more than one loaf in the boat with them.
15 Zvino akavaraira, achiti: Ngwarirai, muchenjere mbiriso yeVaFarisi nembiriso yaHerodhe.
He warned them, saying, "Watch out; guard yourselves against the yeast of the Pharisees and the yeast of Herod."
16 Vakarangana pakati pavo vachiti: Nokuti hatina zvingwa.
And they began discussing among themselves that they had no bread.
17 Zvino Jesu wakati achizviziva akati kwavari: Munorangana sei kuti hamuna zvingwa? Hamusati maziva, kana kunzwisisa here? Muchine moyo mukukutu here?
He, perceiving it, said to them, "Why do you reason that it's because you have no bread? Do you not perceive yet, neither understand? Are your hearts hardened?
18 Mune meso hamuoni here? Uye mune nzeve, hamunzwi here? Uye hamurangariri here?
Having eyes, do you not see? Having ears, do you not hear? Do you not remember?
19 Pandakamedurira vanezvuru zvishanu zvingwa zvishanu, matengu mangani azere nezvimedu amakanonga? Vakati kwaari: Gumi nemaviri.
When I broke the five loaves among the five thousand, how many baskets full of broken pieces did you take up?" They told him, "Twelve."

"When the seven loaves fed the four thousand, how many baskets full of broken pieces did you take up?" And they said, "Seven."
21 Ndokubva ati kwavari: Sei musinganzwisisi?
He asked them, "Do you not yet understand?"
22 Zvino wakasvika kuBhetisaidha; vakauisa bofu kwaari, vakamukumbirisa kuti aribate.
He came to Bethsaida. They brought a blind man to him, and begged Jesus to touch him.
23 Akabata ruoko rwebofu, akaribudisira kunze kwemusha; akati apfira meso aro, akaisa maoko pamusoro paro, akaribvunza kana richiona chinhu.
He took hold of the blind man by the hand, and brought him out of the village. When he had spit on his eyes, and laid his hands on him, he asked him if he saw anything.
24 Ndokutarira kumusoro rikati: Ndinoona vanhu vakaita semiti vachifamba.
He looked up, and said, "I see people; they look like trees walking."
25 Mushure maizvozvo akaisazve maoko pamusoro pameso aro akaritaridza kumusoro, rikaporeswa, rikaona vese zvakajeka.
Then again he laid his hands on his eyes. He made him look up, and was restored, and saw everything clearly.
26 Akariendesa kumba kwaro, achiti: Usapinda mumusha uye usaudza ani nani mumusha.
He sent him away to his house, saying, "Do not enter into the village."
27 Zvino Jesu akabuda nevadzidzi vake vakaenda kumisha yeKesariya yeFiripi; vari munzira akabvunza vadzidzi vake achiti kwavari: Vanhu vanoti ndini ani?
Jesus went out, with his disciples, into the villages of Caesarea Philippi. On the way he asked his disciples, "Who do people say that I am?"
28 Vakapindura vachiti: Johwani Mubhabhatidzi; asi vamwe: Eria; vamwezve: Umwe wevaporofita.
And they said to him, saying, "John the Baptist, and others say Elijah, but others: one of the prophets."
29 Iye akati kwavari: Ko imwi munoti ndini ani? Petro akapindura akati kwaari: Imwi muri Kristu.
He said to them, "But who do you say that I am?" Peter answered and said to him, "You are the Christ."
30 Akavaraira zvikuru kuti varege kuudza munhu pamusoro pake.
He commanded them that they should tell no one about him.
31 Zvino akatanga kuvadzidzisa kuti Mwanakomana wemunhu anofanira kutambudzika zvinhu zvizhinji nekurambwa nevakuru, nevapristi vakuru, nevanyori, agourawa, uye mushure memazuva matatu amukezve.
He began to teach them that the Son of Man must suffer many things, and be rejected by the elders, the chief priests, and the scribes, and be killed, and after three days rise again.

He spoke to them openly. Peter took him, and began to rebuke him.

But he, turning around, and seeing his disciples, rebuked Peter, and said, "Get behind me, Satan. For you have in mind not the things of God, but the things of humans."
34 Zvino wakati adanira kwaari chaunga pamwe nevadzidzi vake, akati kwavari: Ani nani anoda kuuya shure kwangu, ngaazvirambe, atakure muchinjikwa wake, anditevere.
He called the crowd to himself with his disciples, and said to them, "If anyone wants to come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.
35 Nokuti ani nani anoda kuponesa upenyu hwake, acharasikirwa nahwo, asi ani nani acharasikirwa neupenyu hwake nekuda kwangu nekweevhangeri, uyu achahuponesa.
For whoever wants to save his life will lose it; and whoever will lose his life for my sake and the sake of the Good News will save it.
36 Nokuti zvinobatsirei munhu, kana akawana nyika yese akarasikirwa nemweya wake?
For what does it profit a person to gain the whole world, and forfeit his soul?
37 Kana kuti munhu achapei kuti chive muripo wemweya wake?
Or what will a person give in exchange for his soul?
38 Nokuti ani nani anonyara pamusoro pangu nepamashoko angu pazera iri reupombwe nekutadza, Mwanakomana wemhunhu achanyarawo pamusoro pake, paanouya mukubwinya kwaBaba vake ane vatumwa vatsvene.
For whoever will be ashamed of me and of my words in this adulterous and sinful generation, the Son of Man also will be ashamed of him, when he comes in the glory of his Father with the holy angels."
