1 Pakutanga wakange aripo Shoko, uye Shoko wakange ana Mwari, uye Shoko wakange ari Mwari.
In the beginnynge was the worde and the worde was with God: and the worde was God.
2 Iye uyu wakange ana Mwari pakutanga.
The same was in the beginnynge with God.
3 Zvinhu zvese zvakaitwa naye, uye kunze kwake hakuna kuitwa chinhu chimwe chakaitwa.
All thinges were made by it and with out it was made nothinge that was made.
4 Maari maiva neupenyu, uye upenyu hwaiva chiedza chevanhu,
In it was lyfe and the lyfe was ye lyght of men
5 uye chiedza chinovhenekera murima, asi rima harina kuchigamuchira.
and the lyght shyneth in the darcknes but the darcknes comprehended it not.
6 Kwakauya munhu wakatumwa kubva kuna Mwari, zita rake riri Johwani.
There was a man sent from God whose name was Iohn.
7 Iye wakauyira uchapupu, kuti apupure zvechiedza, kuti vese vatende naye.
The same cam as a witnes to beare witnes of the lyght that all men through him myght beleve.
8 Iye wakange asiri icho chiedza, asi wakatumwa kuti apupure pamusoro pechiedza.
He was not that lyght: but to beare witnes of the lyght.
9 Chaiva chiedza chechokwadi, chinovhenekera munhu umwe neumwe anouya panyika.
That was a true lyght which lyghteth all men that come into the worlde.
10 Wakange ari munyika, nenyika yakaitwa naye, asi nyika haina kumuziva.
He was in ye worlde and the worlde was made by him: and yet the worlde knewe him not.
11 Wakauya kune zvake, asi vake havana kumugamuchira.
He cam amonge his (awne) and his awne receaved him not.
12 Asi vese vakamugamuchira, wakavapa kodzero kuti vave vana vaMwari, ivo vanotenda kuzita rake;
But as meny as receaved him to them he gave power to be the sonnes of God in yt they beleved on his name:
13 vakaberekwa kwete neropa, kana nechido chenyama, kana nechido chemurume, asi naMwari.
which were borne not of bloude nor of the will of the flesshe nor yet of the will of man: but of God.
14 Shoko ndokuzova nyama, akagara pakati pedu, uye takaona kubwinya kwake, kubwinya sekwewakaberekwa umwe ega waBaba, azere nenyasha nechokwadi.
And the worde was made flesshe and dwelt amonge vs and we sawe the glory of it as the glory of the only begotten sonne of ye father which worde was full of grace and verite.
15 Johwani wakapupura pamusoro pake, akadanidzira achiti: Uyu ndiye wandaireva ndichiti: Uyu anouya shure kwangu wakanditangira; nokuti wakange aripo mberi kwangu.
Iohn bare witnes of him and cryed sayinge: This was he of whome I spake he that cometh after me was before me because he was yer then I.
16 Nepakuzara kwake isu tese takagamuchira, uye nyasha nenyasha.
And of his fulnes have all we receaved even (grace) for grace.
17 Nokuti murairo wakapiwa naMozisi, nyasha nechokwadi zvakauya naJesu Kristu.
For the lawe was geven by Moses but grace and truthe came by Iesus Christ.
18 Hakuna wakatongoona Mwari; Mwanakomana wakaberekwa umwe ega, ari pachifuva chaBaba, ndiye wakamuzivisa.
No ma hath sene God at eny tyme. The only begotte sonne which is in ye bosome of ye father he hath declared him.
19 Uye uhu ndihwo uchapupu hwaJohwani, apo VaJudha vakatuma vapristi neVaRevhi kubva kuJerusarema kuti vanomubvunza kuti: Iwe ndiwe ani?
And this is the recorde of Iohn: When the Iewes sent Prestes and Levites from Ierusalem to axe him what arte thou?
20 Akabvuma, uye haana kuramba; ndokubvuma achiti: Ini handisi Kristu.
And he confessed and denyed not and sayde playnly: I am not Christ.
21 Zvino vakamubvunza vachiti: Saka kudini? Iwe uri Erija here? Akati: Handisi. Iwe uri uya muporofita here? Akapindura akati: Kwete.
And they axed him: what then? arte thou Helyas? And he sayde: I am not. Arte thou a Prophete? And he answered no.
22 Naizvozvo vakati kwaari: Ndiwe ani? Kuti tipe mhinduro vatituma; unoti kudini pamusoro pako?
Then sayd they vnto him: what arte thou that we maye geve an answer to them that sent vs: What sayest thou of thy selfe?
23 Akati: Ini ndini inzwi reanodanidzira murenje: Ruramisai nzira yaIshe; sezvakareva Isaya muporofita.
He sayde: I am the voyce of a cryar in the wyldernes make strayght the waye of the Lorde as sayde the Prophete Esaias.
24 Ava vakange vatumwa vaibva kuVaFarisi.
And they which were sent were of the pharises.
25 Zvino vakamubvunza, vakati kwaari: Unogobhabhatidzirei, kana iwe usiri Kristu, kana Eria, kana muporofita uya?
And they axed him and sayde vnto him: why baptisest thou then yf thou be not Christ nor Helyas nether a Prophet?
26 Johwani akavapindura, achiti: Ini ndinobhabhatidza nemvura; asi pakati penyu pamire wamusingazivi imwi;
Iohn answered them sayinge: I baptise with water: but one is come amonge you whom ye knowe not
27 ndiye anouya shure kwangu, ari mberi kwangu, wandisina kufanira ini kuti ndisunungure rukanda rweshangu yake.
he it is that cometh after me whiche was before me whose sho latchet I am not worthy to vnlose.
28 Izvozvi zvakaitika paBhetabhara, mhiri kwaJoridhani, kwaibhabhatidza Johwani.
These thinges were done in Bethabara beyonde Iordan where Iohn dyd baptyse.
29 Ava mangwana Johwani wakaona Jesu achiuya kwaari, akati: Tarirai, Gwayana raMwari, rinobvisa rotakura chivi chenyika.
The nexte daye Iohn sawe Iesus commyge vnto him and sayde: beholde the lambe of God which taketh awaye the synne of the worlde.
30 Uyu ndiye ini wandaitaura nezvake ndichiti: Shure kwangu kunouya murume, wakanditangira, nokuti wakange ariko mberi kwangu.
This is he of whom I sayde. After me cometh a man which was before me for he was yer then I
31 Neni ndakange ndisingamuzivi; asi kuti aziviswe kuna Israeri, nekuda kweizvozvo ini ndakauya ndichibhabhatidza nemvura.
and I knew him not: but that he shuld be declared to Israell therfore am I come baptisynge with water.
32 Johwani ndokupupura, achiti: Ndakaona Mweya achiburuka kudenga senjiva, akagara pamusoro pake.
And Iohn bare recorde sayinge: I sawe the sprete descende from heven lyke vnto a dove and abyde apon him
33 Neni ndakange ndisingamuzivi; asi wakandituma kubhabhatidza nemvura, ndiye wakati kwandiri: Uyo waunoona Mweya achiburukira pamusoro pake nekugara pamusoro pake, ndiye anobhabhatidza neMweya Mutsvene.
and I knewe him not. But he that sent me to baptise in water the same sayde vnto me: apon whom thou shalt se the sprete descende and tary styll on him the same is he which baptiseth with the holy goost.
34 Zvino ini ndakaona ndikapupura kuti uyu Mwanakomana waMwari.
And I sawe and bare recorde that this is the sonne of God.
35 Ava mangwanazve Johwani wakange amire, nevaviri vevadzidzi vake;
The next daye after Iohn stode agayne and two of his disciples.
36 zvino wakatarisa Jesu achifamba-famba, akati: Tarirai Gwayana raMwari.
And he behelde Iesus as he walked by and sayde: beholde the lambe of God.
37 Vadzidzi vaviri ndokumunzwa achitaura, ndokutevera Jesu.
And the two disciples hearde him speake and folowed Iesus.
38 Zvino Jesu atendeuka wakavaona vachitevera, akati kwavari: Munotsvakei? Vakati kwaari: Rabhi (ndokuti kana zvichishandurwa, Mudzidzisi) munogarepi?
And Iesus turned about and sawe them folowe and sayde vnto them: what seke ye? They sayde vnto him: Rabbi (which is to saye by interpretacion Master) where dwellest thou?
39 Akati kwavari: Uyai muone. Vakauya vakaona paaigara; ndokugara naye zuva iroro; rakange riri awa rinenge regumi.
He sayde vnto them: come and se. They came and sawe where he dwelt: and abode with him that daye. For it was about the tenthe houre.
40 Andiriya munin'ina waSimoni Petro waiva umwe wevaviri vakange vazvinzwa naJohwani vakamutevera.
One of the two which hearde Iohn speake and folowed Iesus was Andrew Simon Peters brother.
41 Iye wakatanga kuwana mukoma wake chaiye Simoni, akati kwaari: Tamuwana Mesiasi; ndiko kuti kana zvichishandurwa, Kristu.
The same founde his brother Simon fyrst and sayde vnto him: we have founde Messias which is by interpretacion annoynted:
42 Zvino akamuisa kuna Jesu. Jesu ndokuti amutarira akati: Iwe uri Simoni mwanakomana waJona; iwe uchanzi Kefasi (zvinoshandurwa kunzi Petro).
and brought him to Iesus. And Iesus behelde him and sayde: thou arte Simon the sonne of Ionas thou shalt be called Cephas: which is by interpretacion a stone.
43 Ava mangwana Jesu akada kubudira kuGarirea, ndokuwana Firipi, ndokuti kwaari: Nditevere.
The daye folowynge Iesus wolde goo into Galile and founde Philip and sayde vnto him folowe me.
44 Zvino Firipi wakange ari weBhetisaidha, muguta raAndiriya naPetro.
Philip was of Bethsaida the cite of Andrew and Peter.
45 Firipi akawana Nataniyeri, ndokuti kwaari: Tamuwana Mozisi waakanyora nezvake pamurairo nevaporofita, Jesu weNazareta, mwanakomana waJosefa.
And Philip founde Nathanael and sayde vnto him. We have founde him of whom Moses in the lawe and the prophetes dyd wryte. Iesus the sonne of Ioseph of Nazareth.
46 Nataniyeri ndokuti kwaari: Chinhu chakanaka chinogona kubva muNazareta here? Firipi akati kwaari: Uya uone.
And Nathanael sayde vnto him: can ther eny good thinge come out of Nazareth? Philip sayde to him: come and se.
47 Jesu wakaona Nataniyeri achiuya kwaari, ndokuti pamusoro pake: Tarira muIsraeri wechokwadi, musina kunyengera maari.
Iesus sawe Nathanael commynge to him and sayde of him. Beholde a ryght Israelite in who is no gyle.
48 Nataniyeri akati kwaari: Mandizivirepi? Jesu akapindura, akati kwaari: Firipi asati akudana, pawanga uri munyasi memuonde, ndakuona.
Nathanael sayd vnto him: where knewest thou me? Iesus answered and sayde vnto him: Before that Philip called the when thou wast vnder ye fygge tree I sawe the.
49 Nataniyeri akapindura ndokuti kwaari: Rabhi, imwi muri Mwanakomana waMwari, imwi muri Mambo waIsraeri.
Nathanael answered and sayde vnto him: Rabbi thou arte the sonne of God thou arte the kynge of Israel.
50 Jesu akapindura ndokuti kwaari: Unotenda nokuti ndati kwauri: Ndakuona munyasi memuonde. Uchaona zvinhu zvikuru kune izvi.
Iesus answered and sayd vnto him: Because I sayde vnto the I sawe the vnder the fygge tree thou belevest. Thou shalt se greater thinges then these.
51 Zvino akati kwaari: Zvirokwazvo, zvirokwazvo, ndinoti kwamuri: Kubva ikozvino muchaona denga razaruka, nevatumwa vaMwari vachikwira nekuburukira pamusoro peMwanakomana wemunhu.
And he sayde vnto him: Verely verely I saye vnto you: herafter shall ye se heven open and the angels of God ascendynge and descendynge over the sonne of man.
