< Mapisarema 16 >

1 Mikitami raDhavhidhi. Ndichengetedzei, imi Mwari, nokuti ndinovanda mamuri.
[A Poem by David.] Preserve me, God, for in you do I take refuge.
2 Ndakati kuna Jehovha, “Ndimi Ishe wangu; kunze kwenyu handina chinhu chakanaka.”
I said to YHWH, "You are my Lord. Apart from you I have no good thing."
3 Kana vari vatsvene vari panyika, ndivo vakaisvonaka vandinofarira chose.
As for the holy ones who are in the land, they are the excellent ones in whom is all my delight.
4 Kuchema kuchawedzerwa, kwaavo vanomhanyira vamwe vamwari. Handichazodiri zvipiriso zvavo zveropa zvinodururwa kana kuisa mazita avo pamiromo yangu.
Their sorrows will multiply who pay a dowry for another. Their drink offerings of blood I will not offer, nor take their names on my lips.
5 Jehovha, makandigovera mugove wangu nomukombe wangu; mukaita kuti mugove wangu uchengetedzeke.
YHWH is the portion of my inheritance and my cup. You made my lot secure.
6 Ndakayererwa miganhu panzvimbo yakanaka; zvirokwazvo ndine nhaka inofadza.
The lines have fallen to me in pleasant places. Yes, beautiful is my inheritance.
7 Ndicharumbidza Jehovha, anondipa zano; kunyange usiku mwoyo wangu unondirayira.
I will bless YHWH, who has given me counsel. Yes, my heart instructs me in the night seasons.
8 Ndakaisa Jehovha pamberi pangu nguva dzose. Nokuti ari kurudyi rwangu, handingatongozungunuswi.
I have put YHWH before me at all times. Because he is at my right hand I will never be upended.
9 Naizvozvo mwoyo wangu unofara uye rurimi rwangu runopururudza; muviri wanguwo uchazorora zvakanaka,
Therefore my heart is glad, and my tongue rejoices. My body shall also dwell in safety.
10 nokuti imi hamuzondisiyi muguva, kana kurega Mutsvene wenyu achiona kuora. (Sheol h7585)
For you will not abandon my soul in Sheol, neither will you allow your Holy One to see decay. (Sheol h7585)
11 Makandizivisa nzira youpenyu; muchandizadza nomufaro uri pamberi penyu, nezvinofadza zvisingaperi muruoko rwenyu rworudyi.
You make known to me the path of life. In your presence is fullness of joy. In your right hand there are pleasures forevermore.
