< Zvirevo 1 >
1 Zvirevo zvaSoromoni mwanakomana waDhavhidhi, mambo weIsraeri:
The proverbs of Solomon, son of David, King of Israel:
2 kuti uwane uchenjeri nokurayirwa; nokunzwisisa mashoko enjere;
For the knowledge of wisdom and correction, for discerning the sayings of intelligence;
3 kuti uve noupenyu hwokuzvibata hune uchenjeri uchiita zvakarurama nokururamisira uye nokuenzanisira;
For receiving the correction of prudence, righteousness and justice, and equity;
4 kuti vasina mano vapiwe uchenjeri, jaya ripiwe ruzivo namano,
For giving To the simple shrewdness, To the young man, knowledge and discretion.
5 vakachenjera ngavanzwe uye vagowedzera pakudzidza kwavo, uye vanonzvera ngavawane kutungamirirwa,
A wise man, will hear, and will increase learning, and a, discreet man, wise counsels, will acquire,
6 kuti vanzwisise zvirevo nemifananidzo, mashoko nezvirahwe zvavakachenjera.
By gaining discernment of proverb, and satire, the words of the wise, and their dark sayings.
7 Kutya Jehovha ndiwo mavambo ezivo, asi mapenzi anoshora uchenjeri nokurayirwa.
The reverence of Yahweh, is the beginning of knowledge, Wisdom and correction, the foolish have despised.
8 Mwanakomana wangu, teerera, kurayira kwababa vako, uye usarasa kudzidzisa kwamai vako.
Hear, my son, the correction of thy father, and do not reject the instruction of thy mother;
9 Zvichava chishongo chakanaka pamusoro wako nouketani hunoshongedza mutsipa wako.
For, a wreath of beauty, shall they be to thy head, and chains of ornament, to thy neck.
10 Mwanakomana wangu, kana vatadzi vachikukwezva, usabvuma zvavari kuda kuti uite.
My son, if sinners entice thee, do not consent.
11 Kana vakati, “Handei tose; ngativandirei munhu timuuraye; ngativandirei mweya usina mhosva;
If they say—Come with us, —Let us lie in wait for blood, Let us watch in secret for him who is needlessly innocent;
12 ngativamedzei vari vapenyu, seguva, uye vakakwana kudaro savaya vanodzika mugomba; (Sheol )
Let us engulf them, like hades, alive, While in health, like them who are going down to the pit; (Sheol )
13 tichawana marudzi ose ezvinhu zvinokosha tigozadza dzimba dzedu nezvatichapamba;
All costly substance, shall we find, We shall fill our houses with spoil;
14 isa zvinhu zvako pamwe chete nesu, tigova nechikwama chimwe chete,”
Thy lot, shalt thou cast into our midst, One purse, shall there be, for us all.
15 mwanakomana wangu, usabvumirana navo, usaisa rutsoka panzira dzavo;
My son, do not walk in the way with them, Withhold thy foot from their path.
16 nokuti tsoka dzavo dzinomhanyira muchivi, vanokurumidza kundodeura ropa.
For, their feet, to mischief, do run, and haste to the shedding of blood.
17 Hazvibatsiri sei kutambanudza mumbure shiri dzose dzichinyatsoona!
Surely, in vain, is spread the net, in the sight of aught that hath wings!
18 Varume ava vanovandira ropa ravo vomene; vanozvivandira ivo pachavo!
Yet, they, for their own blood, lie in wait, They watch in secret for their own life.
19 Aya ndiwo magumo avaya vanotsvaka pfuma nenzira yakaipa; inouraya vaya vanoiwana.
Such are the ways of every one that graspeth with greed, The life of the owners thereof, it taketh away!
20 Uchenjeri hunodanidzira nenzwi guru mumugwagwa, hunokwidza inzwi rahwo pachivara;
Wisdom, in the open place, soundeth forth, in the broadways, she raiseth her voice;
21 kumusoro kwemigwagwa ine ruzha hunodanidzira, pamasuo eguta hunotaura shoko rahwo huchiti:
At the head of bustling streets, she crieth aloud, —at the openings of the gates in the city—her sayings, she doth utter: —
22 “Kusvikira riniko imi vasina mano, muchingoda kugara musina mano? Kusvikira riniko vaseki vachifarira kuseka, uye mapenzi achivenga zivo?
How long, ye simple ones, will ye love simplicity? and, scoffers, in scoffing, delight them? and, dullards, hate knowledge?
23 Dai makateerera kutsiura kwangu, ndingadai ndakadurura mwoyo wangu kwamuri uye ndakazivisa pfungwa dzangu kwamuri.
Will ye turn, at my reproof? Lo! I will pour out to you my spirit, I will make known my words to you.
24 Asi sezvo makandiramba pandakakudanai uye pasina kana mumwe akateerera pandakatambanudza ruoko rwangu,
Because I called, and ye refused, I stretched out my hand, and no one regarded;
25 sezvo makashaya hanya nokurayira kwangu, uye mukasagamuchira kutsiura kwangu,
But ye dismissed all my counsel, and, to my rebuke, would not yield,
26 iniwo ndichaseka panguva yenjodzi yenyu; ndichaseka dambudziko parichakusvikirai,
I also, at your calamity, will laugh, I will mock, when cometh your dread;
27 dambudziko parichakukundai sedutu, njodzi paichavhuvhuta pamusoro penyu sechamupupuri, nhamo namatambudziko pazvichakukundai.
When cometh as a crashing your dread, and, your calamity, as a storm-wind, overtaketh, when there come upon you, distress and anguish.
28 “Ipapo vachadana kwandiri asi ini handingavapinduri; vachanditsvaka asi havangandiwani.
Then, will they call me, but I will not answer, they will seek me diligently, but shall not find me.
29 Sezvo vakavenga zivo uye vakasasarudza kutya Jehovha,
Because they hated knowledge, and, the reverence of Yahweh, did not choose;
30 sezvo vasina kugamuchira yambiro yangu, uye vakashora kutsiura kwangu,
Consented not to my counsel, disdained all my rebuke,
31 vachadya zvibereko zvenzira dzavo uye vachazadzwa nezvibereko zvemano avo.
Therefore shall they eat of the fruit of their own way, and, with their own counsels, be filled.
32 Nokuti kusateerera kwavasina mano kuchavaurayisa, uye kushaya hanya kwamapenzi kuchavaparadza;
For, the turning away of the simple, will slay them, —and, the carelessness of dullards, will destroy them.
33 asi ani naani achanditeerera achagara murugare, uye achagara akasununguka, asingatyi kuparadzwa.”
Whereas, he that hearkeneth unto me, shall dwell safely, and be at rest, without dread of misfortune.
