1 Waini museki uye doro mupopoti; ani naani anotsauswa nazvo haana kuchenjera.
Wine is a mocker and beer is a brawler. Whoever is led astray by them is not wise.

A righteous man walks in integrity. Blessed are his children after him.
8 Kana mambo achinge agara pachigaro chake kuti atonge, anopepeta zvakaipa zvose nameso ake.
A king who sits on the throne of judgment scatters away all evil with his eyes.
9 Ndiani angati, “Ndakachengeta mwoyo wangu wakachena; ndakachena uye handina zvivi”?
Who can say, “I have made my heart pure. I am clean and without sin”?
10 Zviereso zvakasiyana nezvipimo zvakasiyana Jehovha anozvivenga zvose.
Differing weights and differing measures, both of them alike are an abomination to the LORD.
11 Kunyange mwana anozivikanwa nezvaanoita, kuti tsika dzake dzakanaka uye kuti dzakarurama here.
Even a child makes himself known by his doings, whether his work is pure, and whether it is right.
12 Nzeve dzinonzwa nameso anoona, Jehovha ndiye akazviita zvose zviri zviviri.
The hearing ear, and the seeing eye, the LORD has made even both of them.
13 Usafarira kurara kana kuti uchava murombo; svinudza meso ako ipapo uchava nezvokudya zvakawanda.
Don’t love sleep, lest you come to poverty. Open your eyes, and you shall be satisfied with bread.
14 “Hazvina kunaka, hazvina kunaka!” ndizvo zvinotaura mutengi; ipapo hoyo oenda achizvirumbidza pamusoro pezvaatenga.

15 Goridhe riripo, uye matombo anokosha amarubhi azere, asi miromo inotaura zivo ndicho chinhu chinokosha chisipo.
There is gold and abundance of rubies, but the lips of knowledge are a rare jewel.

He who goes about as a tale-bearer reveals secrets; therefore don’t keep company with him who opens wide his lips.
20 Kana munhu akatuka baba vake kana mai vake, mwenje wake uchadzimwa parima guru.
Whoever curses his father or his mother, his lamp shall be put out in blackness of darkness.
21 Nhaka yakakurumidza kuwanikwa pakutanga haingaropafadzwi pamagumo ayo.
An inheritance quickly gained at the beginning won’t be blessed in the end.
22 Usati, “Ndichatsiva zvawanditadzira izvi!” Mirira Jehovha, uye iye achakubatsira.
Don’t say, “I will pay back evil.” Wait for the LORD, and he will save you.
23 Jehovha anovenga zviereso zvinosiyana, uye zviero zvinonyengera hazvimufadzi.
The LORD detests differing weights, and dishonest scales are not pleasing.
24 Kufamba kwomunhu kunotungamirirwa naJehovha. Zvino munhu anganzwisisa sei nzira yake?
A man’s steps are from the LORD; how then can man understand his way?
25 Musungo kumunhu kuti akumikidze chimwe chinhu nokukurumidza uye ozorangarira mhiko dzake pava paya.
It is a snare to a man to make a rash dedication, then later to consider his vows.
26 Mambo akachenjera anopepeta zvakaipa; anofambisa vhiri rokupura pamusoro pavo.
A wise king winnows out the wicked, and drives the threshing wheel over them.
27 Mwenje waJehovha unonzvera mweya womunhu; unonzvera zviri mukatikati make.
The spirit of man is the LORD’s lamp, searching all his innermost parts.
28 Rudo nokutendeka zvinochengetedza mambo; kubudikidza norudo chigaro chake chinosimbiswa.
Love and faithfulness keep the king safe. His throne is sustained by love.
29 Kukudzwa kwamajaya ndiro simba ravo, bvudzi jena kubwinya kwavakwegura.
The glory of young men is their strength. The splendor of old men is their gray hair.
30 Kurohwa nokukuvadzwa zvinobvisa zvakaipa, uye kurohwa neshamhu kunovaka munhu womukati.
Wounding blows cleanse away evil, and beatings purge the innermost parts.
