1 Jesu akapinda muJeriko uye akanga achipfuura nomo.
And, having entered, he was passing through Jericho;
2 Maiva nomurume ainzi Zakeo; akanga ari mukuru wavateresi uye akanga akapfuma kwazvo.
and lo! a man, by name called Zacchaeus, and, he, was a chief tax-collector, and [he] was rich.
3 Akauya achida kuona Jesu kuti ndiani, asi nokuda kwokuti akanga ari munhu mupfupi, akatadza kuona nokuda kwavanhu vazhinji.
And he was seeking to see Jesus, what sort of man he was, and could not for the multitude, because, in stature, he was, small.
4 Nokudaro akamhanyira mberi akandokwira mumuti womuonde kuti amuone, sezvo Jesu akanga achienda naipapo.
And, running forward unto the front, he got up a sycamore-tree, that he might see him; for, by that way, was he about to pass.
5 Jesu akati asvika panzvimbo iyoyo, akatarisa kumusoro ndokuti kwaari, “Zakeo, buruka nokukurumidza. Ndinofanira kunogara mumba mako nhasi.”
And, as he came up to the place, looking up, Jesus said unto him—Zacchaeus! make haste, and come down; For, to-day, in thy house, I must needs abide.
6 Saka akakurumidza kuburuka akamugamuchira nomufaro.
And he made haste, and came down, and received him joyfully.
7 Vanhu vose vakaona izvi vakatanga kugununʼuna vachiti, “Aenda kunova mueni wo‘mutadzi.’”
And all, when they beheld, began to murmur, saying—With a sinful man, hath he gone in to lodge!
8 Asi Zakeo akasimuka akamira pamberi paShe akati, “Tarirai, Ishe! Pano, uye iye zvino, ndinopa hafu yepfuma yangu kuvarombo, uye kana ndakanyengera ani zvake pachinhu chipi zvacho, ndichadzosera zvava zvina.”
But, taking his stand, Zacchaeus said unto the Lord—Lo! the half of my possessions, Lord, unto the destitute, I give; and, if, from anyone, I have taken aught by false accusation, I give back fourfold.
9 Jesu akati kwaari, “Nhasi ruponeso rwasvika mumba muno, nokuti murume uyu mwanakomanawo waAbhurahama.
And Jesus said unto him—This day, salvation, unto this house, hath come, —for that, he too, is, a son of Abraham;
10 Nokuti Mwanakomana woMunhu akauya kuzotsvaka nokuponesa chakarasika.”
For the Son of Man came, to seek and to save what was lost.
11 Pavakanga vachiri kuteerera izvozvo, akaenderera mberi achivaudza mufananidzo, nokuti akanga ava pedyo neJerusarema uye vanhu vakafunga kuti umambo hwaMwari hwaizokurumidza kuonekwa pakarepo.
And, because they were hearing these things, he added and spake a parable, because of his being near Jerusalem, and their supposing that, instantly, was the kingdom of God to shine forth.
12 Akati, “Mumwe murume weimba huru, akaenda kunyika iri kure kuti andogadzwa kuti ave mambo uye agodzoka.
He said, therefore—A certain man, of noble birth, went into a country far away, to receive for himself a kingdom, and to return.
13 Saka akadana varanda vake gumi akavapa zviuru gumi zvamadhora. Akati, ‘Shandisai mari iyi kusvikira ndadzoka.’
And, calling ten servants of his own, he gave unto them ten minas, and said unto them—Do business, till I come.
14 “Asi varanda vake vaimuvenga vakatuma nhume dzikamutevera kuti dzinoti, ‘Munhu uyu hatidi kuti ave mambo wedu.’
But, his citizens, hated him, and sent off an embassy after him, saying—We desire not, this, man, to be made king over us!
15 “Akandogadzwa kuti ave mambo, kunyange zvakadaro, akadzoka kumusha. Ipapo akatuma shoko kuvaranda vaakanga apa mari, achida kuziva zvavakanga vawana nayo.
And it came to pass, when he returned, having received the kingdom, that he bade be called unto him these servants, to whom he had given the silver, that he might take note, what business they had done.
16 “Wokutanga akasvika akati, ‘Ishe chiuru chenyu chamadhora chakabereka zvimwe zviuru gumi.’
And the first came near, saying—Lord! thy mina, hath made, ten minas.
17 “Tenzi wake akati, ‘Zvakanaka, muranda wangu akanaka! Nokuti wanga wakatendeka pazvinhu zviduku duku, uchatonga pamusoro pamaguta gumi.’
And he said to him—Well done! good servant. Because, in a very small thing, thou hast been, faithful, have thou authority over, ten cities.
18 “Wechipiri akasvika akati, ‘Ishe, chiuru chenyu chamadhora chakabereka zvimwe zviuru zvishanu.’
And the second came, saying—Thy mina, lord, hath made five minas.
19 “Tenzi wake akapindura akati, ‘Iwe uchatonga pamusoro pamaguta mashanu.’
And he said, to him also, And, thou, be over five cities.
20 “Ipapo mumwe muranda akasvika akati, ‘Ishe, hechino chiuru chenyu chamadhora; ndakachichengeta ndakachisungirira mumucheka.
And, the other, came, saying—Lord, lo! thy mina, which I kept lying by in a napkin;
21 Ndakanga ndichikutyai, nokuti muri munhu ane mwoyo wakaoma. Munotora zvamusina kuisapo nokukohwa zvamusina kudyara.’
For I was afraid of thee, because, a harsh man, thou art, —Thou takest up, what thou layedst not down, and reapest, what thou sowedst not!
22 “Tenzi wake akapindura akati, ‘Ndichakutonga namashoko ako pachako, iwe muranda akaipa! Waiziva kuti ndiri munhu ane mwoyo wakaoma, ndinotora zvandisina kuisapo, nokukohwa zvandisina kudyara?
He saith to him—Out of thy mouth, do I judge thee, O wicked servant! Thou knewest that, I, a harsh man, am, —taking up, what I laid not down, and reaping, what I did not sow;
23 Seiko zvino usina kuisa mari yangu mubhangi, kuitira kuti pakudzoka kwangu ndizoitora yawanda?’
Wherefore, then, didst thou not place my silver upon a [money-changer’s] table, and, I, when I came, with interest might have exacted it?
24 “Ipapo akati kuna avo vakanga vamire pedyo, ‘Mutorerei chiuru chake chamadhora muchipe kuno uyo ane zviuru gumi.’
And, unto the by-standers, he said—Take, from him, the mina, and give unto him that hath, the ten minas; —
25 “Vakati, ‘Ishe anotova nezviuru gumi zvamadhora nechakare!’
And they said to him, Lord! he hath ten minas; —
26 “Iye akapindura akati, ‘Ndinoti kwamuri, mumwe nomumwe anazvo, achapiwa zvimwe, asi uyo asina, achatorerwa kunyange nechaanacho.
I tell you—Unto everyone that hath, shall be given, whereas, from him that hath not, even what he hath, shall be taken away.
27 Asi vaya vavengi vangu vakanga vasingadi kuti ndive mambo wavo, uyai navo pano muvauraye pamberi pangu.’”
But, these mine enemies who desired not that I should be made king over them, bring ye here, and slay them outright before me.
28 Shure kwokunge Jesu ataura izvi, akapfuurira mberi, akakwidza kuJerusarema.
And, having said these things, he was moving on in front, going up into Jerusalem.
29 Akati asvika kuBhetifage neBhetania paGomo reMiorivhi, akatuma vadzidzi vake vaviri achiti,
And it came to pass, as he drew near unto Bethphage, and Bethany, unto the mount which is called the Mount of Olives, he sent off two of his disciples,
30 “Endai kumusha wakatarisana nemi, uye pamunongopindamo, muchawana mwana wembongoro asina kumbotasvwa nomunhu akasungirirwamo. Muisunungure mugouya nayo pano.
saying—Go your way unto the opposite village, in which, as ye are entering, ye shall find a colt, bound, whereon, no man, hath, ever sat, —and, having loosed him, bring him.
31 Kana pane munhu anokubvunzai achiti, ‘Seiko muchiisunungura?’ muvaudze kuti, ‘Ishe anoida.’”
And, if any one question you—Wherefore are ye loosing him? thus, shall ye say—His Lord, hath, need.
32 Vaya vakanga vatumwa mberi vakaenda vakandowana zvakaita sezvaakanga avaudza chaizvo.
And they who were sent, departing, found as he had said to them.
33 Pavakanga vachisunungura mwana wembongoro uyu, muridzi wacho akavabvunza akati, “Seiko muchisunungura mwana wembongoro uyu?”
And, as they were loosing the colt, his lords said unto them—Why are ye loosing the colt?
34 Ivo vakamupindura vakati, “Ishe anoida.”
And, they, said—His Lord, hath, need.
35 Vakauya nayo kuna Jesu, vakaisa nguo dzavo pamusoro pomwana wembongoro ndokubva vakwidza Jesu pairi.
And they brought him unto Jesus; and, throwing their mantles over the colt, they seated Jesus thereon.
36 Paakanga achifamba, vanhu vakawaridzira nguo dzavo mumigwagwa.
And, as he moved along, they were spreading their own mantles in the way.
37 Akati asvika pedyo nenzvimbo ine nzira yaitenukira paGomo reMiorivhi, vazhinji vose vavadzidzi vakatanga kupembera vachirumbidza Mwari namanzwi makuru nokuda kwezviratidzo zvose zvavakanga vaona, vachiti:
And, when he was drawing near, already, unto the descent of the Mount of Olives, one-and-all the throng of the disciples began joyfully to be praising God with a loud voice, concerning all the mighty works which they had seen;
38 “Akaropafadzwa mambo anouya muzita raShe!” “Rugare ngaruve kudenga, nokubwinya kumusoro-soro!”
saying—Blessed is he that cometh… The king! In the name of the Lord! In heaven, peace! And glory in the highest!
39 Vamwe vaFarisi vakanga vari pakati pavanhu vazhinji vakati kuna Jesu, “Mudzidzisi, tsiurai vadzidzi venyu!”
And, certain of the Pharisees from the multitude, said unto him—Teacher! rebuke thy disciples.
40 Akapindura akati, “Ndinokuudzai kuti, kana vakanyarara, matombo achadanidzira.”
And he answered and said—I tell you—If, these, shall hold their peace, the stones, will cry out.
41 Akati aswedera kuJerusarema uye achiona guta, akachema pamusoro paro
And, when he drew near, beholding the city, he wept over it, saying—
42 akati, “Dai iwe, kunyange iyewe, waiziva chete pazuva rino zvinhu zvaizokupa rugare, asi zvino zvakavanzwa pameso ako.
If thou hadst got to know, in this day, even thou, the conditions of peace… But, now, are they hid from thine eyes:
43 Mazuva achasvika pamusoro pako ayo vavengi vako vachakuvakira muchinjiziri vagokukomberedza uye vagokumanikidza kumativi ose.
Because days will have come upon thee, that thine enemies will throw around a rampart against thee, and enclose thee; and hem thee in from every side, —
44 Vachakupwanyira pasi, iwe navana vari mukati mamasvingo ako. Havazongosiyi ibwe pamusoro perimwe nokuti hauna kuziva nguva yokushanyirwa kwako naMwari.”
And will level thee with the ground, and thy children within thee, and will not leave, stone on stone, within thee: because thou didst not get to know the season of thy visitation.
45 Ipapo akapinda mutemberi akatanga kudzinga vaya vakanga vachitengesa.
And, entering into the temple, he began to be casting out them who were selling;
46 Akati kwavari, “Kwakanyorwa kuchinzi, ‘Imba yangu ichava yokunyengeterera’, asi mava kuiita ‘bako ramakororo.’”
saying unto them—It is written, And, my house, shall be, a house of prayer; but, ye, have made, it, a den of robbers.
47 Aidzidzisa zuva rimwe nerimwe mutemberi. Asi vaprista vakuru navadzidzisi vomurayiro uye navatungamiri pakati pavanhu vakanga vachiedza kumuuraya.
And he was teaching day by day in the temple; but, the High-priests and the Scribes, also the chiefs of the people, were seeking to destroy him, —
48 Asi vakanga vasingawani nzira yokuita izvozvo, nokuti vanhu vose vakanga vakanamatira pamashoko ake.
and could not find what they might do, for, the people, one and all, were hanging upon him, as they hearkened.
