1 Mumwe musi weSabata, Jesu akanga achicherechedzwa kwazvo paakanga aenda kundodya mumba momumwe muFarisi akanga achikudzwa kwazvo.
It happened on the Sabbath Day when he went into the house of a certain ruler among Pharisees to take a meal, that they were watching him.
2 Pamberi pake ipapo pakanga pane munhu akanga ane chirwere chorukandwe.
And lo! there was in front of him a man who had dropsy.
3 Jesu akabvunza vaFarisi navadudziri vomurayiro achiti, “Zvinotenderwa here nomurayiro kuporesa nomusi weSabata, kana kuti kwete?”
So Jesus questioned the lawyers and the Pharisees, "Is it lawful to heal on the Sabbath Day or not?"
4 Asi vakaramba vanyerere. Naizvozvo akabata ruoko rwomunhu uya, akamuporesa ndokubva amuti aende.
They kept silent. Then Jesus took him and healed him and let him go.
5 Ipapo akavabvunza akati, “Ndiani pakati penyu angati kana mwanakomana, kana mombe yake ikawira mutsime nomusi weSabata, angarega kuibudisa pakarepo?”
And to them he said, "Which of you when an ox or ass has fallen into a well, will at once pull him out on the Sabbath Day?"
6 Ipapo vakashayiwa chokureva.
They could not answer this.
7 Akati achiona kuti vakakokwa vaisarudza sei zvigaro zvapamberi patafura, akavaudza mufananidzo uyu akati kwavari,
He told a parable to the guests when he noticed how they began choosing the best seats. He said to them.
8 “Kana mumwe akakukoka kumuchato, usazvisarudzira nzvimbo yapamberi, nokuti mumwe munhu anokudzwa kupfuura iwe angadaro akakokwa.
"When you are invited by any one to a marriage-feast, do not sit down in the best seat, lest a guest more distinguished than yourself has been invited, and your host come to you and say,
9 Kana zvakadaro, munhu akakukokai imi vaviri achauya agoti kwauri, ‘Ibva ipapo iwe, munhu uyu agare.’ Ipapo, nenyadzi, uchatora chigaro cheshure chokupedzisira.
"‘Give place to this man,’ and then with mortification you proceed to take the lowest place.
10 Asi kana wakokwa, utore chigaro cheshure, kuitira kuti kana akukoka ouya, azoti kwauri, ‘Shamwari, simuka uende kundogara panzvimbo iri nani.’ Ipapo ucharemekedzwa pamberi pavose vawakakokwa pamwe chete navo.
"But when you are invited, go and sit down in the lowest place, so that when your host arrives he may say to you, ‘My friend, come up higher.’ Then you will be honored before the other guest.
11 Nokuti mumwe nomumwe anozvikudza achaninipiswa, uye uyo anozvininipisa achakudzwa.”
"For every one who exalts himself shall be humbled, and he who humbles himself shall be exalted."
12 Ipapo Jesu akati kuna iye akanga amukoka, “Kana wagadzira kudya kwamasikati kana chirariro, urege kukoka shamwari dzako, vanunʼuna vako kana hama dzako, kana vapfumi vawakavakidzana navo; kana ukadaro vangazokukokawo uye ukabva waripirwa.
Also to his host who had invited him, he continued, saying. "When you are making a dinner-party or a supper, do not invite your friends, or your brothers, or your relatives, or your rich neighbors, lest it chance that they invite you in return, and a recompense be made by you.
13 Asi kana ukagadzira mabiko, ukoke varombo, zvirema, vanokamhina, namapofu,
"But when you make a reception, invite the poor, the maimed, the lame, the blind.
14 ipapo ucharopafadzwa. Kunyange vasina zvavanokupa, iwe ucharipirwa pakumuka kwavakarurama.”
"Then you will be blessed, because they have no means to repay you, but you shall be paid in the Resurrection of the Just."
15 Mumwe wavaye vakanga vagere pakudya naye akati anzwa izvi, akati kuna Jesu, “Akaropafadzwa munhu achagara zvake pamabiko muuMambo hwaMwari.”
One of his fellow guest who was listening to him, said to him, "Blessed are those who eat bread in the kingdom of God."
16 Jesu akapindura akati, “Mumwe murume akanga achigadzira mabiko makuru akakoka vanhu vazhinji.
Jesus answered. "A certain man was making a great feast to which he invited many guests.
17 Panguva yamabiko, akatuma varanda vake kuti vandoudza vaya vakanga vakokwa kuti, ‘Uyai, nokuti zvose zvagadzirwa.’
"At dinnertime he sent his slave to say to those who had been invited, ‘Come, for all things are now ready.’
18 “Asi vose vakatanga zvimwe chetezvo kupa zvikonzero. Wokutanga akati, ‘Ndichangotenga munda izvozvi, uye ndinofanira kundouona. Ndapota hangu, ndiregererei.’
"And they all, without exception, proceeded to excuse themselves. The first told him. ‘I have bought a field, and must needs go and see it. Pray have me excused.’
19 “Mumwe akati, ‘Ndichangotenga nzombe dzamajoko mashanu izvozvi, uye ndiri kuenda kumbondodziedza. Ndapota ndiregererei.’
"The second said. ‘I have bought five yolk of oxen and am on my way to try them. I pray that you will have me excused.’
20 “Mumwezve akati, ‘Ndichangowana mukadzi izvozvi, saka handingauyi.’
"‘I have taken a wife,’ said the another, ‘and for that reason I am unable to come.’
21 “Muranda akadzoka akandozivisa izvi kuna tenzi wake. Ipapo muridzi wemba akatsamwa kwazvo akarayira muranda wake achiti, ‘Buda uende nokukurumidza munzira dzomumisha nedzomuguta unouya navarombo, zvirema, mapofu navanokamhina.’
"So the slave came and presented all these answers to his master. Then the master of the house was indignant, and said to his slave. ‘Go out, quickly, into the streets and alleys of the city, and bring in hither the poor, the maimed, the blind, the lame.’
22 “Muranda akati, ‘Ishe, zvamandirayira zvaitwa, asi nzvimbo ichiripo.’
"And the slave said, ‘My master, your orders have been carried out, but yet there is room.’
23 “Ipapo tenzi akaudza muranda wake akati, ‘Buda uende kumigwagwa nokunzira dzomumaruwa undovakoka kuti vapinde, kuitira kuti imba yangu izare.
"Said the master to his slave. ‘Go out into the roads and the hedges, and make them come in, so that my house may be filled.
24 Ndinoti kwamuri, hakuna kana mumwe chete wavaya vakanga vakokwa acharavira mabiko angu.’”
"‘For I tell you that not one of those invited guests shall taste my supper.’"
25 Vazhinji zhinji vakanga vachifamba naJesu, uye akatendeukira kwavari akati,
Great crowds were along with him, and he turned to them and said.
26 “Kana munhu upi zvake achiuya kwandiri uye asingavengi baba vake namai vake, mukadzi wake navana vake, vanunʼuna vake nehanzvadzi dzake, hongu, kunyange noupenyu hwake, haangavi mudzidzi wangu.
"If any one comes to me and does not hate father and his mother, his wife and children, his brothers and sisters, yes, and his own very life also, he cannot be a disciple of mine.
27 Uye ani naani asingatakuri muchinjikwa wake achinditevera haangavi mudzidzi wangu.
"Whoever does not carry his own cross and come after me, cannot be a disciple of mine.
28 “Tomboti mumwe wenyu anoda kuvaka shongwe. Haatangi agara pasi agoongorora mutengo kuti aone kana ane mari inokwana kuipedza here?
"Which of you who is desirous of building a tower, does not sit down first and count the cost, to see if he has the means to complete it?
29 Nokuti kana akavaka hwaro akasagona kuipedza, munhu wose anomuona achamuseka,
"Lest it happen that after he has laid the foundations and is unable to complete it, all who see it shall begin to jeer at him saying,
30 achiti, ‘Munhu uyu akatanga kuvaka asi akasagona kupedza.’
"‘This fellow began to build and could not finish.’
31 “Kana kuti tomboti mambo ava kuda kuenda kuhondo kundorwa nomumwe mambo. Haatangi kugara pasi here kuti aone kana angagona kundorwa navanhu zviuru gumi, achipikisana nouyo ari kuuya kuzorwa naye ane vanhu zviuru makumi maviri?
"Or what king as he goes forth to join battle with another king in war does not sit down first and deliberate whether he can meet with ten thousand men the one who is advancing against him with twenty thousand?
32 Kana asingagoni, achatuma nhume mumwe wacho achiri kure uye okumbira mashoko orugare kwaari.
"If he cannot, while the other king is yet a great way off, he sends an embassy to ask conditions of peace.
33 Saizvozvowo, ani naani wenyu asingasiyi zvose zvaanazvo haangavi mudzidzi wangu.
"Just so any one of you who does not renounce all that he has cannot be my disciple.
34 “Munyu wakanaka, asi kana warasikirwa nokuvava kwawo, ucharungwa neiko?
"Salt is good, but if even the salt have lost its flavor, with what shall it be seasoned?
35 Hauchabatsiri muvhu kana padutu romupfudze; unorasirwa kunze. “Ane nzeve dzokunzwa, ngaanzwe.”
"It is fit neither for the land nor the dung-hill; men cast it out. He who has ears to hear let him listen to this!"
