1 Zvino panguva iyoyo vamwe vaivapo vakaudza Jesu nezvavaGarirea vakanga vavhenganisirwa ropa ravo nezvibayiro zvavo naPirato.
Now at that time there were some present who told Him about the Galileans whose blood Herod had mixed with their sacrifices.
2 Jesu akapindura akati, “Munofunga kuti vaGarirea ava vakanga vari vatadzi zvakanyanya kupfuura vose here zvavakatambudzika nenzira iyi?
So in answer Jesus said to them: “Do you suppose that those Galileans were worse sinners than all the other Galileans, because they suffered such things?
3 Ndinokuudzai kuti kwete! Asi kana musingatendeuki, nemiwo mucharaswa mose.
Not at all, I tell you, but unless you repent you will all likewise perish!
4 Kana vaya gumi navasere vakafa pavakawirwa neshongwe yeSiroami, munofunga kuti vakanga vane mhosva kukunda vamwe vose vaigara muJerusarema here?
Or those eighteen on whom the tower of Siloam fell and killed them; do you suppose they were worse offenders than all others living in Jerusalem?
5 Ndinokuudzai kuti kwete! Asi kana musingatendeuki, nemiwo mose muchaparara.”
Not at all, I tell you, but unless you repent you will all likewise perish!”
6 Ipapo akavaudza mufananidzo uyu akati, “Mumwe murume akanga ane muti wake womuonde wakanga wakasimwa mumunda wake wemizambiringa, akaenda achindotsvaka muchero kwauri, asi haana chaakawana pauri.
Then He told this parable: “A certain man had a fig tree planted in his vineyard, and he came looking for fruit on it and found none.
7 Saka akati kumurume akanga achichengeta munda wemizambiringa, ‘Zvino ava makore matatu andanga ndichiuya kuzotsvaka muchero pamuonde uyu uye handisati ndambowana chinhu. Utemere pasi! Seiko uchishandisa ivhu pasina?’
So he said to the gardener: ‘Look, for three years I have come looking for fruit on this fig tree and have not found any. Cut it down; just why must it waste the soil?’
8 “Akapindura akati, ‘Ishe, chimbouregai henyu kwerimwezve gore, ini ndigoutimbira nokuuyisa mupfudze.
But in answer he said to him, ‘Sir, let it be this year also, until I dig around it and apply fertilizer,
9 Kana ukazobereka muchero gore rinouya, zvakanaka! Kana usina, ipapo mungautema henyu.’”
in case it produces fruit—but if not, then cut it down.’”
10 Jesu akanga achidzidzisa ari mune rimwe sinagoge nomusi weSabata,
Now as Jesus was teaching in one of the synagogues on the Sabbath,
11 uye ipapo pakanga pano mukadzi aiva akaremadzwa nomweya wakaipa kwamakore gumi namasere. Musana wake wakanga wakakokonyara uye akanga asingagoni zvachose kutwasuka.
He saw a woman there who had been crippled by a spirit for eighteen years—she was bent over and could not straighten up.
12 Jesu akati amuona, akamudana kuti auye mberi akati kwaari, “Mai, masunungurwa pachirwere chenyu.”
So He called her over and said to her, “Woman, you are loosed from your infirmity!”
13 Ipapo akaisa maoko ake pamusoro wake, pakarepo musana wake ukatwasanuka akarumbidza Mwari.
He placed His hands on her and immediately she was made straight and started glorifying God.
14 Mukuru wesinagoge akatsamwa nokuti Jesu akanga aporesa mukadzi uyu nomusi weSabata, akati kuvanhu, “Pane mazuva matanhatu okushanda. Saka munofanira kuuya kuzoporeswa pamazuva iwayo, kwete nomusi weSabata.”
But the ruler of the synagogue reacted with indignation, because Jesus had healed on the Sabbath, and he said to the crowd, “There are six days in which one should work; therefore come and be healed on them, and not on the Sabbath.”
15 Ishe akamupindura achiti, “Imi vanyengeri! Ko, handiti mumwe nomumwe wenyu anosunungura nzombe kana mbongoro yake kubva mudanga, oenda nazvo kundonwa mvura nomusi weSabata here?
So the Lord answered him and said: “Hypocrites! Does not each one of you on the Sabbath loose his ox or donkey from the stall and lead it away to water?
16 Zvino mukadzi uyu, mwanasikana waAbhurahama, akanga akasungwa naSatani kwamakore gumi namasere, haaifanira kusunungurwa kubva pane zvakamusunga nomusi weSabata here?”
So ought not this woman, being a daughter of Abraham, whom Satan kept bound during eighteen long years, be freed from this bond on the Sabbath day?”
17 Akati ataura izvozvo, vose vakanga vachipikisana naye vakanyadziswa, asi vanhu vakafadzwa nezvinhu zvinoshamisa zvaakanga achiita.
When He said these things all His adversaries were put to shame, while all the crowd was rejoicing over all the glorious things that were being done by Him.
18 Ipapo Jesu akavabvunza achiti, “Umambo hwaMwari hwakaita seiko? Ndingahuenzanisa neiko?
Then He said: “What is the Kingdom of God like, and to what shall I compare it?
19 Hwakaita setsanga yemasitadhi, yakatorwa nomunhu akandoisima mubindu rake. Yakakura ikava muti mukuru, uye shiri dzedenga dzakauya dzikamhara mumatavi awo.”
It is like a mustard seed, which a man took and planted in his garden; and it grew and became a sizable tree, and the birds of the air perched on its branches.”
20 Akabvunzazve akati, “Umambo hwaMwari ndingahufananidza neiko?
Again He said: “To what shall I compare the Kingdom of God?
21 Hwakafanana nembiriso yakatorwa nomukadzi akaivhenganisa noupfu hwefurau hwakawanda kusvikira yafutisa ganyiwa.”
It is like yeast that a woman took and mixed into three measures of flour, until it was all leavened.”
22 Ipapo Jesu akafamba nomumaguta nomumisha achidzidzisa paakanga achienda kuJerusarema.
He was traveling through various towns and villages, teaching and journeying toward Jerusalem.
23 Mumwe akamubvunza akati, “Ishe, vanhu vashoma chete ndivo vachaponeswa here?” Iye akati kwavari,
Then someone said to Him, “Lord, are the ones being saved few?” So He said to them:
24 “Rwisai chaizvo kuti mupinde napasuo rakamanikana, nokuti ndinoti vazhinji vachaedza kupinda asi havangagoni.
“Exert yourselves to enter through the narrow gate, because many, I say to you, will try to enter and not manage it.
25 Muridzi wemba akangodzimara asimuka akapfiga mukova, imi muchamira kunze muchigogodza uye muchiteterera, muchiti, ‘Ishe, tizarurireiwo mukova.’ “Asi achapindura achiti, ‘Handikuzivei, kana kwamunobva.’
When once the master of the house gets up and shuts the door, and you begin to stand outside and knock on the door saying, ‘Lord, Lord, open to us!’ and in answer he will say to you, ‘I do not know you; where are you from?’
26 “Ipapo muchati, ‘Taidya uye tainwa pamwe chete nemi, uye maidzidzisa munzira dzomumisha yedu.’
then you will begin by saying, ‘We ate and drank in your presence, and you taught in our streets.’
27 “Asi iye achati, ‘Handikuzivei, kana kwamunobva. Ibvai kwandiri, imi mose vaiti vezvakaipa!’
But he will say: ‘I tell you, I do not know where you are from. Depart from me, all you workers of iniquity.’
28 “Ipapo pachava nokuchema, nokurumanya kwameno, pamunoona Abhurahama, Isaka naJakobho navaprofita vose vari muumambo hwaMwari, asi imi pachenyu marasirwa kunze.
“There will be weeping there, and gnashing of teeth, when you see Abraham and Isaac and Jacob and all the prophets in the Kingdom of God, but you yourselves being thrown out.
29 Vanhu vachabva kumabvazuva nokumavirira, nokumusoro nezasi, uye vachagara pazvigaro zvavo pamabiko muumambo hwaMwari.
They will even come from the east, the west, the north and the south, and recline in the Kingdom of God.
30 Zvirokwazvo, varipo vaya vokupedzisira vachazova vokutanga, uye vokutanga vachazova vokupedzisira.”
Yes indeed, there are last who will be first, and there are first who will be last.”
31 Panguva iyoyo vamwe vaFarisi vakauya kuna Jesu vakati kwaari, “Ibvai pano muende kumwewo. Herodhi anoda kukuurayai.”
On that same day some Pharisees approached saying to Him, “Get out of here and go away, because Herod wants to kill you.”
32 Akapindura akati, “Endai munoudza gava iro kuti, ‘Ndichadzinga madhimoni nokuporesa vanhu nhasi namangwana, uye pazuva retatu ndichapedzisa basa rangu.’
He said to them: “Go tell that ‘fox’, ‘Take note, I am casting out demons and performing cures today and tomorrow, and on the third I will be perfected.’
33 Zvisinei hazvo, ndinofanira kuramba ndichishanda mangwana nezuva rinotevera, nokuti zvirokwazvo hakuna muprofita angafira kunze kweJerusarema!
Nevertheless I must keep going today and tomorrow and the day following, because it is not credible that a prophet should perish outside of Jerusalem!
34 “Iwe Jerusarema, Jerusarema, iwe unouraya vaprofita uye uchitaka namabwe avo vakatumwa kwauri, kazhinji sei kandaidisa kuunganidza vana vako pamwe chete, sehuku inounganidza hukwana dzayo pasi pamapapiro ayo, asi ukaramba!
“Jerusalem, Jerusalem, she who kills the prophets and stones those who are sent to her! How often I wanted to gather your children together, like a hen gathers her brood under her wings, but you were not willing!
35 Tarira, imba yako yasiyiwa yava dongo. Ndinoti kwauri, hauchazondionizve kusvikira wati, ‘Akaropafadzwa iye anouya muzita raShe.’”
So then, your house is left to you desolate. I tell you that you will definitely not see me until the time comes when you say, ‘Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord!’”
