< Joshua 20 >
1 Ipapo Jehovha akataura naJoshua akati,
The LORD also spoke to Joshua, saying,
2 “Udza vana vaIsraeri kuti vatsaure maguta outiziro, sezvandakarayira kubudikidza naMozisi,
Speak to the children of Israel, saying, Appoint for you cities of refuge, of which I spoke to you by the hand of Moses:
3 kuitira kuti ani naani anouraya munhu netsaona uye asina kuita namaune, agone kutizira ikoko uye adzivirirwe kumutsivi weropa.
That the slayer that killeth [any] person unawares [and] ignorantly, may flee thither: and they shall be your refuge from the avenger of blood.
4 “Kana atizira kune rimwe ramaguta aya, anofanira kumira pasuo reguta agorondedzera nyaya yake pamberi pavakuru veguta. Ipapo vanofanira kumupinza muguta ravo vagomupa nzvimbo yokugara.
And when he that doth flee to one of those cities shall stand at the entering of the gate of the city, and shall declare his cause in the ears of the elders of that city, they shall take him into the city to them, and give him a place, that he may dwell among them.
5 Ipapo kana mutsivi weropa akamutevera, havafaniri kutendera muurayi kuti amubate nokuti akauraya wokwake asingaiti namaune uye asinazve kumuvenga kubva kare.
And if the avenger of blood shall pursue him, then they shall not deliver the slayer into his hand; because he smote his neighbor ignorantly, and had not hated him before.
6 Iye anofanira kugara muguta iroro kusvikira amira pamberi peungano uyezve kusvikira muprista ari kushumira panguva iyoyo afa. Ipapo angazodzokera kumusha kwake kwaakanga atiza.”
And he shall dwell in that city, until he shall stand before the congregation for judgment, [and] until the death of the high-priest that shall be in those days: then shall the slayer return, and come to his own city, and to his own house, to the city from whence he fled.
7 Saka vakatsaura Kedheshi muGarirea munyika yamakomo yaNafutari, neShekemu munyika yamakomo yaEfuremu, neKiriati Abha (iyo Hebhuroni) munyika yamakomo yaJudha.
And they appointed Kedesh in Galilee in mount Naphtali, and Shechem in mount Ephraim, and Kirjath-arba, (which [is] Hebron) in the mountain of Judah.
8 Kurutivi rwokumabvazuva kweJorodhani reJeriko vakatsaura Bhezeri pamatunhu akakwirira omugwenga rokurudzi rwaGadhi, neGorani muBhashani murudzi rwaManase.
And on the other side of Jordan by Jericho eastward, they assigned Bezer in the wilderness upon the plain out of the tribe of Reuben, and Ramoth in Gilead out of the tribe of Gad, and Golan in Bashan out of the tribe of Manasseh.
9 MuIsraeri upi zvake kana mutorwa aigona kutizira hake kumaguta akatsaurwa uye aisazourayiwa nomutsivi weropa asati ambomiswa pamberi peungano.
These were the cities appointed for all the children of Israel, and for the stranger sojourning among them, that whoever should kill [any] person unawares might flee thither, and not die by the hand of the avenger of blood, until he stood before the congregation.
