< Johani 1 >

1 Pakutanga pakanga pane Shoko, uye Shoko rakanga riri kuna Mwari, uye Shoko rakanga riri Mwari.
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
2 Iye aiva kuna Mwari kubva pakutanga.
He was with God in the beginning.
3 Zvinhu zvose zvakaitwa kubudikidza naye; kunze kwake hakuna kana chinhu chakaitwa pane izvo zvakaitwa.
Through Him all things were made, and without Him nothing was made that has been made.
4 Maari maiva noupenyu, uye upenyu ihwohwo hwaiva chiedza chavanhu.
In Him was life, and that life was the light of men.
5 Chiedza chinovhenekera murima, asi rima harina kuchikunda.
The Light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.
6 Pakanga pano murume akatumwa achibva kuna Mwari; zita rake rainzi Johani.
There came a man who was sent from God. His name was John.
7 Iye akauya sechapupu kuzopupurira chiedza chiya, kuitira kuti vanhu vatende kubudikidza naye.
He came as a witness to testify about the Light, so that through him everyone might believe.
8 Akanga asiri iye chiedza pachake; akauya chete ari sechapupu kuchiedza.
He himself was not the Light, but he came to testify about the Light.
9 Chiedza chezvokwadi chinovhenekera vanhu vose chainge chichizouya munyika.
The true Light who gives light to every man was coming into the world.
10 Akanga ari munyika, uye kunyange nyika yakaitwa kubudikidza naye, nyika haina kumuziva.
He was in the world, and though the world was made through Him, the world did not recognize Him.
11 Akauya kuna avo vakanga vari vake, asi vokwake havana kumugamuchira.
He came to His own, and His own did not receive Him.
12 Asi kuna vose vakamugamuchira, kuna avo vakatenda muzita rake, akavapa simba rokuti vave vana vaMwari,
But to all who did receive Him, to those who believed in His name, He gave the right to become children of God—
13 vana vasina kuberekwa neropa kana nokufunga kwomunhu kana nokuda kwomurume, asi vakaberekwa naMwari.
children born not of blood, nor of the desire or will of man, but born of God.
14 Shoko rakava nyama uye rakagara pakati pedu. Takaona kubwinya kwake, kubwinya kwaIye Mumwe Oga, akabva kuna Baba, azere nenyasha uye nechokwadi.
The Word became flesh and made His dwelling among us. We have seen His glory, the glory of the one and only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth.
15 Johani anopupura nezvake. Anodanidzira achiti, “Uyu ndiye uya wandakati, ‘Anouya mumashure mangu anondipfuura ini nokuti akanditangira.’”
John testified concerning Him. He cried out, saying, “This is He of whom I said, ‘He who comes after me has surpassed me because He was before me.’”
16 Kubva pakuzara kwake takagamuchira nyasha pamusoro penyasha.
From His fullness we have all received grace upon grace.
17 Nokuti murayiro wakapiwa kubudikidza naMozisi; nyasha nezvokwadi zvakauya kubudikidza naJesu Kristu.
For the law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.
18 Hakuna akamboona Mwari, asi Mwanakomana Iye Mumwe Oga, ari pachipfuva chaBaba, akaita kuti azivikanwe.
No one has ever seen God, but the one and only Son, who is Himself God and is at the Father’s side, has made Him known.
19 Zvino uku ndiko kwaiva kupupura kwaJohani vaJudha veJerusarema pavakatuma vaprista navaRevhi kuti vanomubvunza kuti iye aimbova ani.
And this was John’s testimony when the Jews of Jerusalem sent priests and Levites to ask him, “Who are you?”
20 Haana kurega kupupura, asi akanyatsopupura pachena achiti, “Handisini Kristu.”
He did not refuse to confess, but openly declared, “I am not the Christ.”
21 Vakamubvunza vakati, “Zvino ndiwe aniko? Ndiwe Eria here?” Iye akati, “Handizi iye.” “Uri muprofita here?” Akapindura akati, “Kwete.”
“Then who are you?” they inquired. “Are you Elijah?” He said, “I am not.” “Are you the Prophet?” He answered, “No.”
22 Pakupedzisira vakati, “Ndiwe aniko? Tipindure tigondotaurira vatituma. Unozviti aniko?”
So they said to him, “Who are you? We need an answer for those who sent us. What do you say about yourself?”
23 Johani akapindura namashoko omuprofita Isaya achiti, “Ndini inzwi reanodana murenje, richiti, ‘Ruramisai nzira yaShe.’”
John replied in the words of Isaiah the prophet: “I am a voice of one calling in the wilderness, ‘Make straight the way for the Lord.’”
24 Zvino vamwe vaFarisi vakanga vatumwa
Then the Pharisees who had been sent
25 vakamubvunza vachiti, “Seiko zvino uchibhabhatidza kana usiri Kristu, kana Eria kana Muprofita?”
asked him, “Why then do you baptize, if you are not the Christ, nor Elijah, nor the Prophet?”
26 Johani akapindura akati, “Ini ndinobhabhatidza nemvura, asi pakati penyu pamire mumwe wamusingazivi.
“I baptize with water,” John replied, “but among you stands One you do not know.
27 Ndiye anouya shure kwangu, handikodzeri kusunungura rukanda rweshangu dzake.”
He is the One who comes after me, the straps of whose sandals I am not worthy to untie.”
28 Izvi zvose zvakaitika paBhetani mhiri kwaJorodhani, uko kwaibhabhatidzira Johani.
All this happened at Bethany beyond the Jordan, where John was baptizing.
29 Chifume chamangwana Johani akaona Jesu achiuya kwaari akati, “Tarirai, Gwayana raMwari, rinobvisa chivi chenyika!
The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him and said, “Look, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!
30 Ndiye wandaireva pandakati, ‘Murume anouya shure kwangu akandipfuura nokuti akanditangira.’
This is He of whom I said, ‘A man who comes after me has surpassed me because He was before me.’
31 Ini pachangu ndakanga ndisingamuzivi, asi zvandakauyira ndichibhabhatidza nemvura ndezvokuti iye aratidzwe kuIsraeri.”
I myself did not know Him, but the reason I came baptizing with water was that He might be revealed to Israel.”
32 Ipapo Johani akapupura uchapupu uhu achiti, “Ndakaona mweya achiburuka kubva kudenga akaita senjiva akamhara pamusoro pake.
Then John testified, “I saw the Spirit descending from heaven like a dove and resting on Him.
33 Ndingadai ndisina kumuziva, asi uya akandituma kuti ndizobhabhatidza nemvura ndiye akandiudza achiti, ‘Murume uyo waunoona Mweya achiburuka achigara paari, ndiye achazovabhabhatidza noMweya Mutsvene.’
I myself did not know Him, but the One who sent me to baptize with water told me, ‘The man on whom you see the Spirit descend and rest is He who will baptize with the Holy Spirit.’
34 Ndazviona uye ndinopupura kuti uyu ndiye Mwanakomana waMwari.”
I have seen and testified that this is the Son of God.”
35 Chifume chamangwana Johani akanga aripozve navadzidzi vake vaviri.
The next day John was there again with two of his disciples.
36 Akati achiona Jesu achipfuura akati, “Tarirai, Gwayana raMwari!”
When he saw Jesus walking by, he said, “Look, the Lamb of God!”
37 Vadzidzi vaviri vakati vachimunzwa achitaura izvi, vakatevera Jesu.
And when the two disciples heard him say this, they followed Jesus.
38 Jesu akatendeuka akavaona vachitevera akavabvunza akati, “Munodeiko?” Ivo vakati, “‘Rabhi’ (ndiko kuti Mudzidzisi), munogarepiko?”
Jesus turned and saw them following. “What do you want?” He asked. They said to Him, “Rabbi” (which means Teacher), “where are You staying?”
39 Akapindura akati, “Uyai muzokuona.” Saka vakaenda vakandoona paaigara, vakaswera naye kwezuva rimwe chete. Yakanga iri nguva inenge yegumi.
“Come and see,” He replied. So they went and saw where He was staying, and spent that day with Him. It was about the tenth hour.
40 Andirea mununʼuna waPetro, ndiye mumwe wavaviri vakanga vanzwa zvakanga zvarehwa naJohani uye vakanga vatevera Jesu.
Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother, was one of the two who heard John’s testimony and followed Jesus.
41 Chinhu chokutanga chakaitwa naAndirea ndechokuti akatsvaka Simoni mukoma wake akati kwaari, “Tamuwana Mesiya” (ndiko kuti Kristu).
He first found his brother Simon and told him, “We have found the Messiah” (which is translated as Christ).
42 Uye akauya naye kuna Jesu. Jesu akatarisa kwaari akati, “Ndiwe Simoni mwanakomana waJohani. Iwe uchanzi Kefasi” (ndiko kuti, kana zvichishandurwa, Petro).
Andrew brought him to Jesus, who looked at him and said, “You are Simon son of John. You will be called Cephas” (which is translated as Peter).
43 Zuva rakatevera Jesu akafunga zvokuenda kuGarirea. Akati awana Firipi akati kwaari, “Nditevere.”
The next day Jesus decided to set out for Galilee. Finding Philip, He told him, “Follow Me.”
44 Firipi, aibvawo kuguta reBhetisaidha saAndirea naPetro,
Now Philip was from Bethsaida, the same town as Andrew and Peter.
45 Firipi akawana Natanieri akati kwaari, “Tamuwana uya akanyorwa nezvake naMozisi muMurayiro, uyewo akanyorwa nezvake navaprofita, Jesu weNazareta, mwanakomana waJosefa.”
Philip found Nathanael and told him, “We have found the One Moses wrote about in the Law, the One the prophets foretold—Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph.”
46 Natanieri akati, “Nazareta! Pane chinhu chakanaka chingabva kuNazareta here?” Firipi akati, “Uya uone.”
“Can anything good come from Nazareth?” Nathanael asked. “Come and see,” said Philip.
47 Jesu akati achiona Natanieri achiuya, akati kwaari, “Houno muIsraeri wechokwadi, asina kunyengera maari.”
When Jesus saw Nathanael approaching, He said of him, “Here is a true Israelite, in whom there is no deceit.”
48 Natanieri akamubvunza akati, “Mandiziva seiko?” Jesu akapindura akati, “Ndakuona pawanga uri pasi pomuonde Firipi asati akudana.”
“How do You know me?” Nathanael asked. Jesus replied, “Before Philip called you, I saw you under the fig tree.”
49 Ipapo Natanieri akati, “Rabhi, ndimi Mwanakomana waMwari; ndimi Mambo weIsraeri.”
“Rabbi,” Nathanael answered, “You are the Son of God! You are the King of Israel!”
50 Jesu akati, “Unotenda nokuti ndakuudza kuti ndakuona uri pasi pomuonde. Uchaona zvinhu zvikuru kupinda izvozvo.”
Jesus said to him, “Do you believe just because I told you I saw you under the fig tree? You will see greater things than these.”
51 Ipapo akatizve, “Ndinokuudzai chokwadi, muchaona denga richizaruka, uye vatumwa vaMwari vachikwira nokuburuka pamusoro poMwanakomana woMunhu.”
Then He declared, “Truly, truly, I tell you, you will all see heaven open and the angels of God ascending and descending on the Son of Man.”
