< Mabasa 19 >
1 Aporosi paakanga achiri paKorinde, Pauro akafamba nomugwagwa wakanga uchipinda nomukati menyika akasvika paEfeso. Akawana vamwe vadzidzi ipapo
And it came to pass, that, while Apollos was at Corinth, Paul having passed through the upper coasts came to Ephesus: and finding certain disciples,
2 akavabvunza akati, “Makagamuchira Mweya Mutsvene here pamakatenda?” Vakapindura vakati, “Kwete, hatina kutongonzwa kuti kune Mweya Mutsvene isu.”
He said unto them, Have all of you received the Holy Spirit (pneuma) since all of you believed? And they said unto him, We have not so much as heard whether there be any Holy Spirit. (pneuma)
3 Saka Pauro akavabvunza akati, “Zvino makagamuchira rubhabhatidzo rupi?” Vakapindura vakati, “Rubhabhatidzo rwaJohani.”
And he said unto them, Unto what then were all of you baptized? And they said, Unto John's baptism.
4 Pauro akati, “Rubhabhatidzo rwaJohani rwaiva rubhabhatidzo rwokutendeuka. Akaudza vanhu kuti vatende kuna iye aizouya mumashure make, iye Jesu.”
Then said Paul, John verily baptized with the baptism of repentance, saying unto the people, that they should believe on him which should come after him, that is, on Christ Jesus.
5 Vakati vanzwa izvi, vakabhabhatidzwa muzita raIshe Jesu.
When they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.
6 Pauro akati aisa maoko ake pamusoro pavo, Mweya Mutsvene wakauya pamusoro pavo, uye vakataura nendimi vakaprofita.
And when Paul had laid his hands upon them, the Holy Spirit (pneuma) came on them; and they spoke with tongues, and prophesied.
7 Vakanga vari varume vanenge gumi navaviri vose.
And all the men were about twelve.
8 Pauro akapinda musinagoge akataura asingatyi imomo kwemwedzi mitatu, achikakavadzana navo zvinyoronyoro pamusoro poumambo hwaMwari.
And he went into the synagogue, and spoke boldly for the space of three months, disputing and persuading the things concerning the kingdom of God.
9 Asi vamwe vavo vakaomesa mwoyo yavo; vakaramba kutenda uye vakatsoropodza Nzira iyo pamberi pavanhu. Saka Pauro akabva pavari. Akatora vadzidzi akaenda navo akandoita hurukuro navo zuva nezuva pachikoro chaTirano.
But when divers were hardened, and believed not, but spoke evil of that way before the multitude, he departed from them, and separated the disciples, disputing daily in the school of one Tyrannus.
10 Izvi zvakaramba zvichiitwa kwamakore maviri, zvokuti vaJudha vose navaGiriki vaigara munyika yeEzhia vakanzwa shoko raShe.
And this continued by the space of two years; so that all they which dwelt in Asia heard the word (logos) of the Lord Jesus, both Jews and Greeks.
11 Mwari akaita mabasa anoshamisa kubudikidza naPauro,
And God wrought special miracles by the hands of Paul:
12 zvokuti kunyange nehangachepfu namaapuroni akanga ari pamuviri wake zvakaendeswa kuvarwere, zvirwere zvavo zvikaporeswa uye mweya yakaipa ikabva pavari.
So that from his body were brought unto the sick handkerchiefs or aprons, and the diseases departed from them, and the evil spirits (pneuma) went out of them.
13 Vamwe vaJudha vaifamba vachidzinga mweya yakaipa vakaedza kudana zita raJesu pamusoro paavo vakanga vakabatwa namadhimoni vachiti, “Muzita raJesu, anoparidzwa naPauro, ndinokurayira kuti ubude.”
Then certain of the vagabond Jews, exorcists, took upon them to call over them which had evil spirits (pneuma) the name of the LORD Jesus, saying, We adjure you by Jesus whom Paul preaches.
14 Vanakomana vanomwe vaSikevha muprista mukuru wavaJudha, vakanga vachiita izvozvo.
And there were seven sons of one Sceva, a Jew, and chief of the priests, which did so.
15 Rimwe zuva mweya wakaipa wakavapindura ukati, “Jesu ndinomuziva, uye ndinoziva nezvaPauro, asi imi ndimi vanaaniko?”
And the evil spirit (pneuma) answered and said, Jesus I know, and Paul I know; but who are all of you?
16 Ipapo murume akanga ane mweya wakaipa akasvetukira pavari akavakurira vose. Akavarova zvokuti vakamhanya vachibuda mumba vasina kupfeka uye vachibuda ropa.
And the man in whom the evil spirit (pneuma) was leaped on them, and overcame them, and prevailed against them, so that they fled out of that house naked and wounded.
17 Izvi zvakati zvazivikanwa navaJudha navaGiriki vaigara muEfeso, vose vakabatwa nokutya, uye zita raIshe Jesu rakakudzwa nokukudzwa kukuru.
And this was known to all the Jews and Greeks also dwelling at Ephesus; and fear fell on them all, and the name of the Lord Jesus was magnified.
18 Zvino vazhinji vavakanga vatenda vakauya vakareurura pachena mabasa avo akanga akaipa.
And many that believed came, and confessed, and showed their deeds.
19 Vazhinji vakanga vachiita zvounʼanga vakaunganidza mabhuku avo pamwe chete vakaapisa pamberi pavanhu. Vakati vaverenga mutengo wamabhuku acho, mari ikasvika madhirakema zviuru makumi mashanu.
Many of them also which used curious arts brought their books together, and burned them before all men: and they counted the price of them, and found it fifty thousand pieces of silver.
20 Nenzira iyi shoko raMwari rakapararira kwazvo uye rikakura musimba.
So mightily grew the word (logos) of God and prevailed.
21 Shure kwokunge zvose izvi zvaitika, Pauro akafunga zvokuenda kuJerusarema achipfuura nokuMasedhonia, nokuAkaya achiti, “Kana ndambosvika ikoko, ndinofanira kushanyirawo Roma.”
After these things were ended, Paul purposed in the spirit, (pneuma) when he had passed through Macedonia and Achaia, to go to Jerusalem, saying, After I have been there, I must also see Rome.
22 Akatuma vabatsiri vake vaviri, Timoti naErastasi, kuMasedhonia, iye achimbosara munyika yeEzhia kwechinguva.
So he sent into Macedonia two of them that ministered unto him, Timotheus and Erastus; but he himself stayed in Asia for a season.
23 Nenguva yakaita saiyoyo bope guru rakamuka pamusoro peNzira iyi.
And the same time there arose no small stir about that way.
24 Mumwe mupfuri wesirivha ainzi Dhemetiri akanga achigadzira zvitemberi zvesirivha zvaAritemisi, zvakanga zvichipfumisa zvikuru mhizha dzavo.
For a certain man named Demetrius, a silversmith, which made silver shrines for Diana, brought no small gain unto the craftsmen;
25 Akavaunganidza vose, pamwe chete navabati vaishanda mabasa akadaro, akati kwavari, “Varume, imi munoziva kuti takanga tichiwana pfuma yakanaka nebasa iri.
Whom he called together with the workmen of like occupation, and said, Sirs, all of you know that by this craft we have our wealth.
26 Zvino munozvionawo nokuzvinzwira kuti murume uyu Pauro akadzidzisa uye akatsausa vanhu vazhinji muno muEfeso, uye zviri pachena kuti nomunyika yose yeEzhia zvayo, anoti vamwari vakaitwa navanhu havasi vamwari chaivo.
Moreover all of you see and hear, that not alone at Ephesus, but almost throughout all Asia, this Paul has persuaded and turned away much people, saying that they be no gods, which are made with hands:
27 Zvino njodzi iripo ndeyokuti harizi basa redu bedzi richarasikirwa nembiri yaro, asiwo temberi yamwari wedu mukuru, Aritemisi, ichazvidzwa uye iye mwarikadzi pachake, anova ndiye ari kunamatwa munyika yose yeEzhia uye nenyika yose, achatorerwa ukuru hwake.”
So that not only this our craft is in danger to be set at nothing; but also that the temple of the great goddess Diana should be despised, and her magnificence should be destroyed, whom all Asia and the world worships.
28 Vakati vanzwa izvi, vakashatirwa vakatanga kudanidzira vachiti, “Mukuru ndiAritemisi wavaEfeso!”
And when they heard these sayings, they were full of wrath, and cried out, saying, Great is Diana of the Ephesians.
29 Pakarepo guta rose rakanyonganiswa. Vanhu vakabata Gayo naAristakusi, shamwari dzaPauro dzaaifamba nadzo dzaibva kuMasedhonia, vakamhanya navo nomwoyo mumwe vakapinda navo munhandare.
And the whole city was filled with confusion: and having caught Gaius and Aristarchus, men of Macedonia, Paul's companions in travel, they rushed with one accord into the theatre.
30 Pauro akanga achida kuzviratidza pamberi pemhomho, asi vadzidzi vakamudzivisa.
And when Paul would have entered in unto the people, the disciples suffered him not.
31 Kunyange vamwe vakuru veEzhia, shamwari dzaPauro, vakamutumira shoko vachimukumbirisa kuti arege kuedza kupinda munhandare.
And certain of the chief of Asia, which were his friends, sent unto him, desiring him that he would not adventure himself into the theatre.
32 Ungano yakanga yanyonganiswa: vamwe vaidaidzira chimwe chinhu, vamwe chimwe. Vazhinji vavanhu vakanga vasingatongozivi kuti sei vakanga varipo.
Some therefore cried one thing, and some another: for the assembly was confused: and the more part knew not wherefore they were come together.
33 VaJudha vakasundidzira Arekizanda mberi, uye vamwe vazhinji vaidanidzira vachimurayira zvokuita. Akaninira vanhu kuti vanyarare kuitira kuti agone kuzvidavirira pamberi pavanhu.
And they drew Alexander out of the multitude, the Jews putting him forward. And Alexander beckoned with the hand, and would have made his defence unto the people.
34 Asi pavakaona kuti iye aiva muJudha, vose vakadanidzira pamwe chete kwenguva dzinenge maawa maviri vachiti, “Mukuru ndiAritemisi wavaEfeso!”
But when they knew that he was a Jew, all with one voice about the space of two hours cried out, Great is Diana of the Ephesians.
35 Munyori weguta akanyaradza vanhu akati, “Varume veEfeso, ko, nyika yose haizivi here kuti guta reEfeso ndiro rinochengeta temberi yaAritemisi mukuru nomufananidzo wake, uyo wakawa uchibva kudenga?
And when the public clerk had appeased the people, he said, All of you men of Ephesus, what man is there that knows not how that the city of the Ephesians is a worshipper of the great goddess Diana, and of the image which fell down from Jupiter?
36 Naizvozvo, sezvo izvi zvisingagoni kurambika, munofanira kuti munyarare murege kumhanyira kuita chinhu.
Seeing then that these things cannot be spoken against, all of you ought to be quiet, and to do nothing rashly.
37 Mauya navarume ava pano, kunyange zvavo vasina kuba temberi dzedu kana kumhura mwarikadzi wedu.
For all of you have brought here these men, which are neither robbers of churches, nor yet blasphemers of your goddess.
38 Zvino, kana Dhemetiri nedzimwe mhizha dzaanadzo vakange vane mhosva naani zvake, matare edzimhosva akazarurwa uye vatongi varimo. Vanogona kuvakwirira havo.
Wherefore if Demetrius, and the craftsmen which are with him, have a matter (logos) against any man, the law is open, and there are deputies: let them sue one another.
39 Kana pane chimwe chinhuzve chamungada kutaura, chinofanira kutaurwa paungano iri pamutemo.
But if all of you enquire any thing concerning other matters, it shall be determined in a lawful assembly.
40 Asi sezvazviri izvi, tiri panjodzi yokuti tingangopiwa mhosva yokumutsa bongozozo nokuda kwezvaitika nhasi. Kana pane chimwezve chamungada kutaura, chinofanira kutaurwa paungano iri pamutemo.”
For we are in danger to be called in question for this day's uproar, there being no cause whereby we may give an account (logos) of this concourse.
41 Akati ataura izvi, akarayira kuti ungano iparare.
And when he had thus spoken, he dismissed the assembly.
