< Mabasa 14 >
1 PaIkoniamu Pauro naBhanabhasi vakasvikopinda musinagoge ravaJudha sezvavaisiita nguva dzose. Imomo vakataura zvinobata mwoyo kwazvo zvokuti vaJudha vazhinji neveDzimwe Ndudzi vakatenda.
And it came to pass in Iconium that they together entered into the synagogue of the Jews, and so spake that there believed, both of Jews and Greeks, a great throng.
2 Asi vaJudha vakaramba kutenda vakamutsa mwoyo yeveDzimwe Ndudzi uye vakavakanganisa pfungwa dzavo kuti vavenge hama.
But, the unpersuaded Jews, roused up and provoked the souls of them of the nations against the brethren.
3 Saka Pauro naBhanabhasi vakapedza nguva refu varipo, vachitaura zvaIshe vasingatyi, iye akasimbisa shoko renyasha dzake nokuvagonesa kuita zviratidzo nezvishamiso.
A good while, therefore, tarried they, using boldness of speech [in dependence] upon the Lord, who was bearing witness unto his word of favour, granting signs and wonders to be coming to pass through their hands.
4 Vanhu vomuguta vakapesana; vamwe vakatsigira vaJudha, vamwewo vakatsigira vapostori.
And the throng of the city was divided; and some indeed were with the Jews, while some were with the apostles.
5 VeDzimwe Ndudzi navaJudha, pamwe chete navatungamiri vavo vakarangana kuvaitira zvakaipa nokuvataka namabwe.
But, when there took place an assault both of them of the nations and of the Jews, with their rulers, to maltreat and to stone them,
6 Asi vakazviziva vakabva vatizira kuRistira neDhebhe maguta avaRikonia nokudunhu rose rakanga rakapoteredza,
They became aware of it, and fled unto the cities of Lycaonia, Lystra and Derbe, and the surrounding country;
7 uko kwavakaramba vachiparidza vhangeri.
And, there, were they announcing the glad tidings.
8 MuRistira maigara mumwe murume akanga ari mhetamakumbo, akanga ari chirema kubva pakuberekwa kwake uye akanga asina kumbofamba.
And, a certain man in Lystra, impotent in his feet, was sitting, —lame from his mother’s womb, who never had walked.
9 Akateerera Pauro paakanga achitaura. Pauro akamutarisisa, akaona kuti akanga ano kutenda kuti angaporeswa
This man, hearkened unto Paul, as he was speaking, —who, looking steadfastly at him, and seeing he had faith to be made well,
10 akadanidzira akati, “Simuka netsoka dzako!” Ipapo, murume akakwakuka akatanga kufamba.
Said, with a loud voice—Stand up on thy feet, erect! And he sprang up, and began to walk about.
11 Vazhinji vakati vaona zvakanga zvaitwa naPauro, vakadanidzira norurimi rwechiRikonia vachiti, “Vamwari vaburuka kwatiri muchimiro chavanhu!”
And, the multitudes, seeing what Paul had done, lifted up their voice, in the speech of Lycaonia—The gods, made like unto men, have come down unto us!
12 Bhanabhasi vakamutumidza kuti Zeusi, uye Pauro vakamutumidza kuti Herimesi nokuti ndiye aiva mutauri mukuru.
And they went on to call Barnabas, Jupiter, and Paul, Mercury, seeing that, he, was the leader of discourse.
13 Muprista waZeusi aiva netemberi yake yakanga iri kunze kweguta, akauya nehando namaruva kumasuo eguta nokuti iye navanhu vazhinji vaida kupa zvibayiro kwavari.
Also, the priest of the Jupiter that was before the city, bringing bulls and garlands unto the gates, with the multitudes, would have offered sacrifice.
14 Asi vapostori Bhanabhasi naPauro vakati vazvinzwa, vakabvarura nguo dzavo vakamhanyira mukati moruzhinji, vakadanidzira vachiti,
But the apostles Barnabas and Paul, hearing of it, rending asunder their own mantles, sprang forward amidst the multitude, crying aloud,
15 “Varume, munoitireiko izvi? Isuwo tiri vanhu semi, vanhuwo zvavo semi. Tinokuparidzirai mashoko akanaka, tichikuudzai kuti mubve pazvinhu izvi zvisina maturo mudzokere kuna Mwari mupenyu, akaita denga nenyika negungwa nezvinhu zvose zviri mukati mazvo.
and saying—Men! Why, these things, are ye doing? We also, of like nature with you, are men, bringing you the good news, that from these vain things, ye should be turning unto a living God: —Who made heaven and the earth and the sea and all things therein;
16 Panguva dzakapfuura, akarega hake ndudzi dzose dzichifamba nenzira dzadzo.
Who in the bygone generations suffered all the nations to be going on in their own ways, —
17 Asi haana kusiya pasina zvingamupupurira: Akakuitirai tsitsi nokukupai mvura inobva kudenga nezvirimwa nenguva yazvo; akakupai zvokudya zvakawanda uye akazadza mwoyo yenyu nomufaro.”
Although, not without witness, he left himself, doing good, from heaven, upon you, giving rain and fruitful seasons, filling, with food and gladness, your hearts.
18 Kunyange namashoko iwaya, zvakanga zvakaoma chose kuti vadzivise vanhu vazhinji ava kuti varege kuvabayira.
Even these things, saying, scarcely restrained they the multitudes from offering sacrifice unto them.
19 Ipapo vamwe vaJudha vaibva kuAndioki nokuIkoniamu vakauya vakasvikopindura mwoyo yavanhu vazhinji ava. Vakataka Pauro namabwe ndokumuzvuzvurudzira kunze kweguta, vachifunga kuti afa.
But there came thither, from Antioch and Iconium, Jews, and, persuading the multitudes, and stoning Paul, they dragged him outside the city, supposing him to be dead.
20 Asi shure kwokunge vadzidzi vaungana vakamukomba, akamuka akadzokera muguta zvakare. Zuva rakatevera akaenda naBhanabhasi kuDhebhe.
Howbeit, the disciples surrounding him, he rose up, and entered into the city. And, on the morrow, he went forth, with Barnabas, unto Derbe.
21 Vakaparidza mashoko akanaka muguta iroro vakawana vadzidzi vazhinji kwazvo. Ipapo vakadzokera kuRistira, Ikoniamu nokuAndioki,
Delivering the good news unto that city also, and making a good number of disciples, they returned unto Lystra, and unto Iconium, and unto Antioch, —
22 vachisimbisa vadzidzi nokuvakurudzira kuti varambe vari pakutenda. Vakati, “Tinofanira kutambudzika kuti tipinde muumambo hwaMwari.”
confirming the souls of the disciples, beseeching them to abide in the faith, and [declaring] that, through many tribulations, must we enter into the kingdom of God.
23 Pauro naBhanabhasi vakagadza vatungamiri mukereke imwe neimwe uye nokunyengetera nokutsanya, vakavakumikidza kuna She, uyo wavaivimba naye.
Moreover, appointing unto them by vote, in each assembly, elders, praying with fastings, they commended them unto the Lord on whom they had believed.
24 Shure kwokupinda kwavo nomuPisidhia, vakasvika muPamufiria,
And, passing through Pisidia, they came into Pamphylia;
25 uye vakati vaparidza shoko muPega, vakadzika vakaenda kuAtaria.
and, speaking in Perga the word, they came down unto Attalia;
26 Kubva paAtaria vakakwira chikepe vakadzokera kuAndioki, kuya kwavakanga vakumikidzwa kunyasha dzaMwari pabasa ravakanga vapedza zvino.
and, from thence, they set sail for Antioch, whence they had been given up unto the favour of God for the work which they had fulfilled.
27 Vakati vasvika ikoko, vakaunganidza kereke pamwe chete vakavarondedzera zvose zvakanga zvaitwa naMwari kubudikidza navo uye kuti akanga avazarurira sei mukova wokutenda kune veDzimwe Ndudzi.
And, when they had arrived and gathered together the assembly, they began recounting how many things God had done with them, and that he had opened, unto the nations, a door of faith.
28 Uye vakagara navadzidzi ipapo kwenguva refu.
And they spent no little time with the disciples.
