1 Mugore ramakumi maviri namatatu raJoashi mwanakomana waAhazia mambo weJudha, Jehoahazi mwanakomana waJehu akava mambo weIsraeri muSamaria, uye akatonga kwamakore gumi namanomwe.
In the twenty-third year of Joas son of Ochozias king of Juda began Joachaz the son of Ju to reign in Samaria, [and he reigned] seventeen years.
2 Akaita zvakaipa pamberi paJehovha nokutevera zvivi zvaJerobhoamu mwanakomana waNebhati, zvaakanga aita kuti vaIsraeri vaite, uye haana kutendeuka kubva pazvivi.
And he did that which was evil in the sight of the Lord, and walked after the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nabat, who led Israel to sin; he departed not from them.
3 Naizvozvo kutsamwa kwaJehovha kwakabvira somoto pamusoro peIsraeri, uye kwenguva yakareba akavaisa pasi poruoko rwaHazaeri mambo weAramu naBheni-Hadhadhi mwanakomana wake.
And the Lord was very angry with Israel, and delivered them into the hand of Azael king of Syria, and into the hand of the son of Ader son of Azael, all their days.
4 Ipapo Jehoahazi akatsvaka nyasha dzaJehovha, Jehovha akamunzwa, nokuti akanga aona kuti mambo weAramu airwadzisa uye achitambudza Israeri zvakanyanya sei.
And Joachaz implored the Lord, and the Lord listened to him, for he saw the affliction of Israel, because the king of Syria afflicted them.
5 Jehovha akamutsira Israeri mudzikinuri, uye vakapukunyuka kubva pasi poruoko rwavaAramu. Naizvozvo vaIsraeri vakagara mumisha yavo sezvavakanga vakaita kare.
And the Lord gave deliverance to Israel, and they escaped from under the hand of Syria: and the children of Israel lived in their tents as heretofore.
6 Asi havana kutendeuka kubva pazvivi zveimba yaJerobhoamu, zvaakanga aita kuti Israeri iite, vakarambira mazviri. Uyezve danda raAshera rakaramba rimire muSamaria.
Only they departed not from the sins of the house of Jeroboam, who led Israel to sin: they walked in them—moreover the grove also remained in Samaria.
7 Hapana hondo yaJehoahazi yakasara kunze kwavarume vamabhiza makumi mashanu, nengoro gumi uye zviuru gumi zvavarwi vaifamba netsoka, nokuti mambo weAramu akanga aparadza vazhinji vavo akavaita seguruva renguva yokupura.
Whereas there was not left any army to Joachaz, except fifty horsemen, and ten chariots, and ten thousand infantry: for the king of Syria had destroyed them, and they made them as dust for trampling.
8 Zvino zvimwe zvakaitwa pakutonga kwaJehoahazi, nezvose zvaakaita nokubudirira kwake, hazvina kunyorwa here mubhuku renhoroondo dzamadzimambo eIsraeri?
And the rest of the acts of Joachaz, and all that he did, and his mighty acts [are] not these things written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel?
9 Jehoahazi akazorora namadzibaba ake uye akavigwa muSamaria. Jehoashi mwanakomana wake akamutevera paumambo.
And Joachaz slept with his fathers, and they buried him in Samaria: and Joas his son reigned in his stead.
10 Mugore ramakumi matatu namanomwe raJoashi mambo weJudha, Jehoashi mwanakomana waJehoahazi akava mambo weIsraeri muSamaria, uye akatonga kwamakore gumi namatanhatu.
In the thirty-seventh year of Joas king of Juda, Joas the son of Joachaz began to reign over Israel in Samaria sixteen years.
11 Akaita zvakaipa pamberi paJehovha akasatendeuka kubva kana pane chimwe chezvivi zvaJerobhoamu mwanakomana waNebhati, zvaakaita kuti Israeri iite; akarambira mazviri.
And he did that which was evil in the sight of the Lord; he departed not from all the sin of Jeroboam the son of Nabat, who led Israel to sin: he walked in it.
12 Zvino zvimwe zvakaitwa pakutonga kwaJehoashi, nezvose zvaakaita, nokubudirira kwake, pamwe nokurwa kwake naAmazia mambo weJudha, hazvina kunyorwa here mubhuku renhoroondo dzamadzimambo eIsraeri?
And the rest of the acts of Joas, and all that he did, and his mighty acts which he performed together with Amessias king of Juda, [are] not these written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel?
13 Jehoashi akazorora namadzibaba ake, Jerobhoamu akamutevera pachigaro choushe. Jehoashi akavigwa muSamaria pamwe chete namadzimambo eIsraeri.
And Joas slept with his fathers, and Jeroboam sat upon his throne, and he was buried in Samaria with the kings of Israel.
14 Zvino Erisha akanga achirwadziwa nedenda iro rakazomuuraya. Jehoashi mambo weIsraeri akaendako kundomuona akachema pamusoro pake akati, “Baba vangu! Ngoro dzaIsraeri navatasvi vamabhiza!”
Now Elisaie was sick of his sickness, whereof he died: and Joas king of Israel went down to him, and wept over his face, and said, [My] father, [my] father, the chariot of Israel, and the horseman thereof!
15 Erisha akati, “Tora uta nemiseve,” iye akaita saizvozvo.
And Elisaie said to him, Take bow and arrows. And he took to himself a bow and arrows.
16 Akati kuna mambo weIsraeri, “Tora uta muruoko rwako.” Akati atora uta, Erisha akaisa maoko ake pamusoro pamaoko amambo.
And he said to the king, Put your hand on the bow. And Joas put his hand upon [it]: and Elisaie put his hands upon the king's hands.
17 Akati, “Zarura windo rokumabvazuva,” iye ndokurizarura. Erisha akati, “Pfura!” iye ndokupfura. Erisha akati, “Museve waJehovha wokukunda, museve wokukunda Aramu! Iwe uchaparadza vaAramu zvachose paAfeki.”
And he said, Open the window eastward. And he opened it. And Elisaie said, Shoot. And he shot. And [Elisaie] said, The arrow of the Lord's deliverance, and the arrow of deliverance from Syria; and you shall strike the Syrians in Aphec until you have consumed them.
18 Ipapo akati, “Chitora miseve,” mambo akaitora. Erisha akati kwaari, “Rova pasi,” iye akarova katatu akabva amira.
And Elisaie said to him, Take bow and arrows. And he took them. And [he] said to the king of Israel, Strike upon the ground. And the king struck three times, and stayed.
19 Munhu waMwari akamutsamwira akati kwaari, “Wanga uchifanira kurova pasi kashanu kana katanhatu; ipapo waizokunda Aramu uye ugoiparadza zvachose. Asi zvino uchazongoikunda katatu chete.”
And the man of God was grieved at him, and said, If you had struck five or six times, then you should have struck Syria till you had consumed them; but now you shall strike Syria [only] thrice.
20 Erisha akafa akavigwa. Zvino hondo dzavaMoabhu dzakanga dzichipinda munyika kutanga kwegore roga roga.
And Elisaie died, and they buried him. And the bands of the Moabites came into the land, at the beginning of the year.
21 Rimwe zuva vaIsraeri vachiviga mumwe murume, pakarepo vakaona mapoka avapambi; naizvozvo vakakanda mutumbi womunhu uyu muguva raErisha. Mutumbi wakati wagunzva mapfupa aErisha, munhu uya akamuka akamira namakumbo ake.
And it came to pass as they were burying a man, that behold, they saw a band [of men], and they cast the man into the grave of Elisaie: and as soon as he touched the bones of Elisaie, he revived and stood up on his feet.
22 Hazaeri mambo weAramu akatambudza vaIsraeri pamazuva ose okutonga kwaJehoahazi.
And Azael greatly afflicted Israel all the days of Joachaz.
23 Asi Jehovha akavaitira nyasha, uye akava nengoni akava nehanya navo nokuda kwesungano yake naAbhurahama, naIsaka naJakobho. Kusvikira nhasi haana kuda kuvaparadza kana kuvarasira kure naye.
And the Lord had mercy and compassion upon them, and had respect to them because of his covenant with Abraam, and Isaac, and Jacob; and the Lord would not destroy them, and did not cast them out from his presence.
24 Hazaeri mambo weAramu akafa, mwanakomana wake Bheni-Hadhadhi akamutevera paumambo.
And Azael king of Syria died, and the son of Ader his son reigned in his stead.
25 Ipapo Jehoashi mwanakomana waJehoahazi akatorazve kubva kuna Bheni-Hadhadhi mwanakomana waHazaeri maguta aakanga atora muhondo kubva kuna baba vake Jehoahazi. Jehoashi akamukunda katatu, nokudaro akadzorazve maguta avaIsraeri.
And Joas the son of Joachaz returned, and took the cities out of the hand of the son of Ader the son of Azael, which he had taken out of the hand of Joachaz his father in the war: thrice did Joas strike him, and he recovered the cities of Israel.
