1 Mumazuva iwayo vaFiristia vakaunganidza varwi vavo kuti vazorwa navaIsraeri. Akishi akati kuna Dhavhidhi, “Unofanira kunzwisisa kuti iwe navanhu vako muchaenda neni kuhondo.”
It happened in those days, that the Philistines gathered their armies together for warfare, to fight with Israel. Achish said to David, "Know assuredly that you are to go out with me to battle, you and your men."
2 Dhavhidhi akati, “Ipapo muchazvionera pachenyu zvinogona kuitwa nomuranda wenyu.” Akishi akapindura akati, “Zvakanaka chaizvo, ndichakuita muchengeti wangu kwoupenyu hwose.”
David said to Achish, "Therefore you shall know what your servant will do." Achish said to David, "therefore I will make you my bodyguard for ever."
3 Zvino Samueri akanga afa, uye vaIsraeri vose vakanga vamuchema, vakamuviga muguta rake reRama. Sauro akanga adzinga panyika masvikiro navavuki.
Now Samuel was dead, and all Israel had lamented him, and buried him in Ramah, even in his own city. Saul had removed the mediums, and spiritists, from the land.
4 VaFiristia vakaungana vakauya vakadzika musasa paShunemi, uye Sauro akaunganidza vaIsraeri vose akadzika musasa paGiribhoa.
The Philistines gathered themselves together, and came and camped in Shunem: and Saul gathered all Israel together, and they camped in Gilboa.
5 Sauro akati aona varwi vavaFiristia, akatya; kutya kwakazadza mwoyo wake.
When Saul saw the army of the Philistines, he was afraid, and his heart trembled greatly.
6 Akabvunza kuna Jehovha, asi Jehovha haana kumupindura nezviroto kana neUrimi kana navaprofita.
When Saul inquired of Jehovah, Jehovah did not answer him, neither by dreams, nor by Urim, nor by prophets.
7 Ipapo Sauro akati kuvaranda vake, “Nditsvakirei mukadzi anosvikirwa, kuti ndiende kundobvunza kwaari.” Ivo vakati, “Kuno mumwe ari paEndori.”
Then Saul said to his servants, "Find for me a woman who is a medium, that I may go to her and inquire of her." His servants said to him, "Look, there is a woman who is a medium at Endor."
8 Saka Sauro akazvivanza akafuka dzimwe nguo, akaenda iye navamwe varume vaviri kumukadzi uyu usiku. Akati kwaari, “Ndibvunzire mweya, ugondimutsirawo uyo wandichakuudza.”
Saul disguised himself, and put on other clothing, and went, he and two men with him, and they came to the woman by night. And he said, "Divine a spirit for me, please, and bring up for me the one whom I name to you."
9 Asi mukadzi akati kwaari, “Zvirokwazvo unoziva iwe zvakaitwa naSauro. Akauraya masvikiro navavuki kubva panyika. Ko, waisirei musungo muupenyu hwangu kuti undiurayise?”
The woman said to him, "Look, you know what Saul has done, how he has cut off the mediums and spiritists out of the land. Why then do you lay a snare for my life, to cause me to die?"
10 Sauro akamupikira naJehovha akati, “Zvirokwazvo naJehovha mupenyu, haungazorangwi pamusoro paizvozvi.”
But Saul swore to her, saying, "As Jehovah lives, no punishment will come upon you for this thing."
11 Ipapo mukadzi akabvunza akati, “Ndianiko wandichakumutsira?” Iye akati, “Ndimutsire Samueri.”
Then the woman said, "Whom shall I bring up to you?" He said, "Bring Samuel up for me."
12 Mukadzi akati achiona Samueri, akadanidzira nenzwi guru akati kuna Sauro, “Seiko mandinyengera? Ndimi Sauro!”
When the woman saw Samuel, she cried with a loud voice; and the woman spoke to Saul, saying, "Why have you deceived me? For you are Saul."
13 Mambo akati kwaari, “Usatya. Uri kuoneiko?” Mukadzi akati, “Ndinoona mweya uchikwira uchibuda pasi.”
The king said to her, "Do not be afraid. For what do you see?" The woman said to Saul, "I see a god coming up out of the earth."
14 Iye akati, “Akaita seiko?” Akati, “Murume mutana akafuka nguo ari kuuya.” Ipapo Sauro akaziva kuti akanga ari Samueri, akakotamira pasi nechiso chake.
He said to her, "What does he look like?" She said, "An old man comes up. He is covered with a robe." Saul perceived that it was Samuel, and he bowed with his face to the ground, and showed respect.
15 Samueri akati kuna Sauro, “Seiko wanditambudza nokundimutsa?” Sauro akati, “Ndiri kutambudzika zvikuru. VaFiristia vari kurwa neni, uye Mwari abva kwandiri. Haachandipinduri, navaprofita kana nokurota. Saka ndakudanai imi kuti muzondiudza zvokuita.”
And Samuel said, "Why have you disturbed me by bringing me up?" And Saul answered, "I am very distressed, for the Philistines are fighting against me, and God has turned away from me and no longer answers me, either by prophets, or by dreams. So therefore I have called on you, that you may make known to me what I should do."
16 Samueri akati, “Unondibvunzireiko ini, sezvo zvino Jehovha akabva kwauri akava muvengi wako?
Samuel said, "Why then do you ask of me, since Jehovah has departed from you and is with your neighbor?
17 Jehovha akaita zvaakataura kare kubudikidza neni. Jehovha akabvarura umambo akahubvisa mumaoko ako akahupa kuno mumwe wavavakidzani vako, kuna Dhavhidhi.
Jehovah has done to you as he spoke by me. Jehovah has torn the kingdom out of your hand, and given it to your neighbor, even to David.
18 Nokuti hauna kuteerera Jehovha, kana kuratidza hasha dzake dzinotyisa pamusoro peAmareki, Jehovha azviita izvi nhasi kwauri.
Because you did not obey the voice of Jehovah, and did not execute his fierce wrath on Amalek, therefore Jehovah has done this thing to you this day.
19 Jehovha achaisa vaIsraeri pamwe chete newe kuvaFiristia, uye mangwana iwe navanakomana vako muchava neni. Jehovha achaisazve hondo yavaIsraeri kuvaFiristia.”
Moreover Jehovah will deliver Israel also with you into the hand of the Philistines; and tomorrow you and your sons with you will fall. Jehovah will deliver the army of Israel also into the hand of the Philistines."
20 Pakarepo Sauro akawira pasi akazvambarara, azara nokutya nokuda kwamashoko aSamueri. Simba rake rakapera, nokuti akanga asina chaakanga adya zuva rose nousiku hwose.
Then Saul fell immediately his full length on the earth, and was terrified, because of the words of Samuel. There was no strength in him; for he had eaten no bread all the day, nor all the night.
21 Mukadzi paakaenda pana Sauro akaona kuti akanga avhundutswa kwazvo, akati kwaari, “Tarirai, murandakadzi wenyu akakuteererai. Ndakaisa upenyu hwangu mumaoko angu ndikaita zvamakandiudza kuti ndiite.
And the woman came to Saul and saw that he was terrified, and said to him, "Look, your servant has obeyed you, and I have put my life in my hand and have listened to your words which you spoke to me.
22 Zvino, ndapota teererai muranda wenyu, regai ndikupei zvokudya kuti mudye mugowana simba rokufamba parwendo rwenyu.”
Now therefore, please listen also to the voice of your servant, and let me set a morsel of bread before you; and eat, that you may have strength, when you go on your way."
23 Iye akaramba akati, “Handidi kudya.” Asi vanhu vake vakabatsirana nomukadzi pakumugombedzera, uye akavanzwa. Akasimuka akagara panhoo.
But he refused, and said, "I will not eat." But his servants, together with the woman, pressed him; and he listened to their voice. So he arose from the ground, and sat on the bed.
24 Mukadzi akanga ane mhuru yakakodzwa pamba pake, uye akaiuraya pakarepo. Akatora upfu hwegorosi akahukanya akabika chingwa chisina mbiriso.
The woman had a fattened calf in the house. She hurried and killed it; and she took flour, and kneaded it, and baked unleavened bread of it.
25 Ipapo akazviisa pamberi paSauro navanhu vake, ivo vakadya. Usiku ihwohwo vakasimuka vakaenda.
She brought it before Saul, and before his servants; and they ate. Then they rose up, and went away that night.
