Књига о Јову 34
1 Још говори Елијуј и рече:
Moreover Elihu answered and said:
2 Чујте, мудри, беседу моју, и разумни послушајте ме.
Hear my words, ye wise men; and give ear unto me, ye that have knowledge.
3 Јер ухо познаје беседу као што грло куша јело.
For the ear trieth words, as the palate tasteth food.
4 Разаберимо шта је право, извидимо међу собом шта је добро.
Let us choose for us that which is right; let us know among ourselves what is good.
5 Јер Јов рече: Праведан сам, а Бог одбаци моју правду.
For Job hath said: 'I am righteous, and God hath taken away my right;
6 Хоћу ли лагати за своју правду? Стрела је моја смртна, а без кривице.
Notwithstanding my right I am accounted a liar; my wound is incurable, though I am without transgression.'
7 Који је човек као Јов да као воду пије подсмех?
What man is like Job, who drinketh up scorning like water?
8 И да се дружи с онима који чине безакоње, и да ходи с безбожним људима?
Who goeth in company with the workers of iniquity, and walketh with wicked men.
9 Јер рече: Не помаже човеку да угађа Богу.
For he hath said: 'It profiteth a man nothing that he should be in accord with God.'
10 Зато, људи разумни, послушајте ме; далеко је од Бога злоћа и неправда од Свемогућег.
Therefore hearken unto me, ye men of understanding: Far be it from God, that He should do wickedness; and from the Almighty, that He should commit iniquity.
11 Јер по делу плаћа човеку и даје сваком да нађе према путу свом.
For the work of a man will He requite unto him, and cause every man to find according to his ways.
12 Доиста Бог не ради зло и Свемогући не изврће правде.
Yea, of a surety, God will not do wickedly, neither will the Almighty pervert justice.
13 Ко Му је предао земљу? И ко је уредио васиљену?
Who gave Him a charge over the earth? Or who hath disposed the whole world?
14 Кад би на себе окренуо срце своје, узео би к себи дух свој и дисање своје;
If He set His heart upon man, if He gather unto Himself his spirit and his breath;
15 Изгинуло би свако тело, и човек би се вратио у прах.
All flesh shall perish together, and man shall return unto dust.
16 Ако си, дакле, разуман, чуј ово: слушај глас речи мојих.
If now thou hast understanding, hear this; hearken to the voice of my words.
17 Може ли владати онај који мрзи на правду? Хоћеш ли осудити оног који је најправеднији?
Shall even one that hateth right govern? And wilt thou condemn Him that is just and mighty —
18 Каже ли се цару: Ниткове! И кнезовима: Безбожници?
Is it fit to say to a king: 'Thou art base'? Or to nobles: 'Ye are wicked'? —
19 А камо ли Ономе који не гледа кнезовима ко су, нити у Њега вреди више богати од сиромаха, јер су сви дело руку Његових.
That respecteth not the persons of princes, nor regardeth the rich more than the poor? For they all are the work of His hands.
20 Умиру за час, и у по ноћи усколеба се народ и пропадне, и однесе се јаки без руке људске.
In a moment they die, even at midnight; the people are shaken and pass away, and the mighty are taken away without hand.
21 Јер су очи Његове обраћене на путеве човечије и види све кораке његове.
For His eyes are upon the ways of a man, and He seeth all his goings.
22 Нема мрака ни сена смртнога где би се сакрили који чине безакоње.
There is no darkness, nor shadow of death, where the workers of iniquity may hide themselves.
23 Јер никоме не одгађа кад дође да се суди с Богом.
For He doth not appoint a time unto any man, when he should go before God in judgment.
24 Сатире јаке недокучиво, и поставља друге на њихово место.
He breaketh in pieces mighty men without inquisition, and setteth others in their stead.
25 Јер зна дела њихова, и док обрати ноћ, сатру се.
Therefore He taketh knowledge of their works; and He overturneth them in the night, so that they are crushed.
26 Као безбожне разбија их на видику.
He striketh them as wicked men in the open sight of others;
27 Јер одступише од Њега и не гледаше ни на које путеве Његове;
Because they turned aside from following Him, and would not have regard to any of His ways;
28 Те дође до Њега вика сиромахова, и чу вику невољних.
So that they cause the cry of the poor to come unto Him, and He heareth the cry of the afflicted.
29 Кад Он умири, ко ће узнемирити? И кад Он сакрије лице, ко ће Га видети? И то бива и народу и човеку.
When He giveth quietness, who then can condemn? And when He hideth His face, who then can behold Him? whether it be done unto a nation, or unto a man, alike;
30 Да не би царовао лицемер, да не би било замке народу.
That the godless man reign not, that there be none to ensnare the people.
31 Заиста, треба казати Богу: Подносио сам, нећу више грешити.
For hath any said unto God: 'I have borne chastisement, though I offend not;
32 А шта не видим, Ти ме научи; ако сам чинио неправду, нећу више.
That which I see not teach Thou me; if I have done iniquity, I will do it no more'?
33 Еда ли ће по теби плаћати, јер теби није по вољи, јер ти бираш а не Он? Ако знаш шта, говори.
Shall His recompense be as thou wilt? For thou loathest it, so that thou must choose, and not I; therefore speak what thou knowest.
34 Људи ће разумни са мном казати, и мудар ће човек пристати,
Men of understanding will say unto me, yea, every wise man that heareth me:
35 Да Јов не говори разумно, и да речи његове нису мудре.
'Job speaketh without knowledge, and his words are without discernment.'
36 Оче мој, нека се Јов искуша до краја, што одговара као зли људи.
Would that Job were tried unto the end, because of his answering like wicked men.
37 Јер домеће на грех свој безакоње, пљеска рукама међу нама, и много говори на Бога.
For he addeth rebellion unto his sin, he clappeth his hands among us, and multiplieth his words against God.
